Obituary for SCHWAPPACH

SCHWAPPACH, JOHN T. John T. Schwappach, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. John was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 4, 1934 to Christian and Eileen (Healey) Schwappach. After graduating from De La Salle High School in Minneapolis he enlisted in the Air Force in 1953. He completed Air Force Flying School and while stationed at Chaumount, France he met and married his sweetheart of fifty-seven years, Micheline of Troyes. A pilot, John was honorably discharged in 1957 with a rank of first lieutenant. A long time resident of the east mountains, John retired from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1989 after 35 years of air traffic control service. He loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman, hunter, and traveler. Survivors include his wife Micheline and their children: Christopher Schwappach and his wife Mary Schwappach of Tijeras, NM, Michele Schwappach and her husband Lloyd Nelson of San Pedro, NM, Eric Schwappach and his wife Tatiana Schwappach of Columbus, GA, Laurie Orzel and her husband Richard Orzel of Farmington, NM; two grandchildren; three sisters; and two brothers. His parents preceded him in death. A Rosary will be held Friday, April 11, 2014 at 6:30 PM followed by a funeral service on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 10:00 AM San Antonio De Padua, Holy Child Parish, Cedar Crest, NM. Private interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial contributions to the NRA Whittington Center, P.O.
