SIMMS, ROSE MARIE Age 94, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, born April 16, 1918 to Peter V. and Gertrude M. Archibeck, died April 14, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett E. Simms; son, Greg E. Simms; parents, Peter and Gertrude Archibeck; siblings, Lena Mickiewicz, Sadie Graham, Conrad Archibeck, Pete Archibeck and Herman Archibeck. Rose is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Ron) Carman, Barbara (Steve) Carlson, Diana (David) Malcolm; sons, Kenneth (Charlene) Simms, Doug Simms; brother, Ron Archibeck; 14 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren. A graduate of Albuquerque High in 1937. Rose worked in the Bernalillo County Treasurer's Office and later retired from Dillard's. Besides being a great mom to her large family. Rose delighted others with her quick wit and the grace she had for everyone. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 20, 2013, 1:00 PM at New Life City Church 4830 Pan American Fwy. VAUGHN, MONA ANN Our precious mother went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2013. She was 96 years old. She was born in Atwood, Oklahoma on March 24, 1917 to Woodroe and Lula Hall. She was an Albuquerque resident since 1935. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lenora Vaughn; son, Daniel Vaughn; and four sisters, Katherine, Lorine, Gladys and Jewel. She is survived by two sisters, Jeline from Weatherford, Texas, Eveline from Albuquerque; two sons, Paskell Vaughn from Las Cruces and David Vaughn from Clovis; two daughters, Norma Morgan and Anita Vaughn from Albuquerque; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She retired from NMSU in 1988. Viewing is scheduled for Friday, April 19th at 10:00am, visitation at 11:00am, and service at 1;00pm at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo NE. VELEZ, THELMA LEAH Age 80, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away at her home on April 12, 2013, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her son, Mark Garrett and wife Kim of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, and Kaitlyn Garrett of Albuquerque; her brothers, Johnny Johnson and wife Nancy of Phoenix, AZ, Phillip Johnson of Albuquerque, Gary Johnson and wife Gloria of Albuquerque; many nieces and nephews living throughout the country. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Velez; and her beloved dog, Charlie. Thelma was a true native of Albuquerque. She was born on February 27, 1933 to her Navajo father John Bahe Johnson, and Acoma mother Josephine Hunt. She kept close ties to family in Acoma Pueblo, Santa Ana Pueblo, and Indian Wells, AZ. As a child she participated in many traditional ceremonies and parades. She was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, class of 1950. She was a dedicated civil servant with 36 years of service to the US Army, DOD DASA, US Air Force, with a majority of her career working as a senior investigator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Memorial Services will be held Friday, April 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. VIGIL, FRANCES G. Age 91, a resident of Albuquerque since the 1950's, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. She is survived by her daughters, Edna J. Baca and Dolores H. Herrera and husband, John, all of Albuquerque; grandsons, Gene Baca, Joey Baca, Gabriel Baca, and Dominic Baca; granddaughters, Yvette Baca, Janelle D. Perez and husband, David, and Zoila F. Smith. and husband, Dave; 12 great-grandchildren, Felicia, Melissa, Gabriel Jr., Kathleen, Kathryn, Kathy, Robert, Victoria, Brandon, Aidan, Bella, and Kyler; eight great-great-grandchildren, Monique, Joseph, Nathanol, Letecia, Nathaneal, Desiray, Vania, and Lorena; sisters, Elma Espinoza and Sylvia Baca and husband, Bonifacio; brother Cayetano Garcia and wife, Vicky. Mrs. Vigil was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio C. Vigil; son, John Vigil; brothers Jacobo "Jake" Garcia and Manuel Garcia; and sisters Mary Agatha Worley and Elsie Gonzales. Frances was an active member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church with the Altar and Rosary Society, the Blue Army and the Holy Rosary Choir. Mrs. Vigil was a member of the Franciscan Third Order Laity. Frances also was active with Los Volcanes Senior Center. A rosary will be recited Friday, April 19, 2013, 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - University. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 20, 2013, 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd NW. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1100 Edith Blvd. NE . Pallbearers will be Dominic Baca, Gene Baca, Gabriel Baca, Robert Archuleta, Manuel Garcia, and Louie Garcia. Honorary pallbearer will be Joey Baca. ZINGARELLO, ROCCO V. A long time New Mexico resident, Rocco .V. Zingarello passed away on Monday April 15th at the age of 91. He was a former Army Sergeant in World War II serving with the 330th combat engineering battalion. He served his country and company helping to build the Stillwell Road, and leading security and manned recon patrols night. Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, he moved to Estancia in 1985 then to Albuquerque. He leaves behind his son Mark and wife Cynthia Zingarello in NC; daughter Lee and husband Patrick Roberds in VA; and four grandchildren.

BAYLESS, BETTY Age 90, of Farmington, died Sunday, April 14, 2013 in Farmington. She was born February 13, 1923 in Manchester, England to Eva and Louie Cohen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Bayless, and her parents, Eva and Louie Cohen. She is survived by her son, Michael (Susanna); and daughter Betty (Toots) Meyers. Also surviving are grandchildren, Martin-John Bayless, Jeramie Bayless, Marfi Dantas, Carrie Meyers and Jon Meyers; and great-grandchildren, Austin Bayless, Taylor Bayless, Makenzie Bayless, J.W. Bayless, A.J. Bayless, Victoria Dantas, Joshua Dantas and Cadence Dantas. Betty loved her family, church, singing in the church choir, her flower garden, traveling and her little dog Cuddles. She married her husband, Martin, in England during WWII. After the war she came to the US with her husband. Together they had two children and later five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and church members alike. A special thank you to Gingerich Home for the special care to her in her last months. Memorial Services for Betty will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor John Preston officiating. GORMAN, BOB Many people strive to, "make a difference." It is such a common idea it is a fundamental story line in books, plays, operas, and movies. On April 15th, at the age of 77, Robert Harold Gorman died. Born in Weehawken, NJ on December 31st 1935, he made a difference. A self-educated certified engineer in the fields of electronic, mechanical, chemical and robotic engineering Robert Gorman is listed as inventor on at least 11 patents ranging from robotics to weapons detection systems, self-illuminating shower heads and roller coasters. A US Marine, a SCUBA diver, a published photographer when it meant something, a pilot of 120+MPH RC planes, a lover of art and life he communicated openly and freely with everyone and anyone wherever his motorcycle rides would take him. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons, Robert M. Gorman, Thomas A. Gorman, and Gregory K. Gorman and his wife Phoenix. A Celebration of Life for friends and family will be held at his home on Friday, April 19th at 6;00pm. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Albuquerque Presbyterian Hospice.
