Jody is survived by her husband of 39 years, Willie R. Patterson; children, Diana Patterson and Jeffrey Patterson, and grandchildren Ernesto (Nesto) and Marisa Padilla, Jocelynne and William (Buddy) Patterson. She's also survived by her father, Lupe Lopez, Jr.; siblings, Barbara Lopez, Dr. Mary Lopez, and Clifford Lopez; brothers-in-law, Jim Patterson, Jay Blount, and Lynn Patterson; nephews, Anthony Vitale, Jordan and Matthew Regenie, Christopher Lopez, Aaron Patterson; and niece, Tiffany Rouse; godparents, Max and Priscilla Gonzales; aunt, Stella Miller, and numerous cousins and close friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Esther Lopez; brother, Richard Lopez, and aunt, Dorothy White. Jody graduated from Balboa High School in the Canal Zone, Panama in 1972. She was very supportive of both her father and her husband throughout their military careers. She was a long time teacher's aide at Kids Under Construction (KUCI) a Christian Daycare community of St. Stephens United Methodist Church. Jody loved her time at KUCI and her "children" as she called the young boys and girls attending class with her. This was her calling and it was the happiest time in her life. Her strong faith gave her peace during her difficult battle with cancer. Jody volunteered for St. Stephen's Methodist Church Sidewalk Saturdays bible study program for displaced children. She thoroughly loved to participate in BSF (Bible Study Fellowship). Other than her love of God, family and close friends, Jody enjoyed nothing more than to spend time golfing. She learned the game of golf later in life, but it was something that gave her great joy. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, good friend to many, but the role she cherished most was that of a good Christian. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kids Under Construction Preschool at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 4601 Juan Tabo NE, 87111.
