ARAGON, MARY LOUISE a resident of Albuquerque passed away on April 12, 2013. She was born on April 7, 1928 in La Junta, Colorado. She was preceded by her parents Manuel and Catalina Gonzales, her husband I. E. "Sonny" Aragon Jr. and son Andrew Aragon. She is survived by her son Ignacio E. "Nash" Aragon and wife Linda, her son Baron Aragon, a daughter Lydia Aragon and her son Rudy Aragon and his girlfriend Debbie Chavez. She has grandchildren Abel Aragon, Richard L. Aragon, Amy Trujillo, Felipe Aragon, Manuel Aragon, Felicia Aragon, Gabe Aragon. Also great grandchildren Andrew Aragon, Elijah Ruiz, Joshua Aragon, Kendall Trujillo and Quinton Aragon. A memorial service will be held at El Buen Samaritano Methodist Church, 700 Granite Ave NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102 at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 17, 2013. A reception will be held immediately after in the church social hall.

BAUER, BESS IRENE a resident of Albuquerque, NM, went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2013. She was born December 24, 1934 in Vaughn, NM. She is survived by daughter Lynda Anderson and husband Ray; daughter Anne Lynch; son Mark Lynch; and daughter Carla Bauer; her grandchildren, Ashley Trebitowski, Serena Castelletti, Patience Anderson, Loren Miller, and Anthony Lynch; and four great-grandsons. The celebration of her life will be Friday, April 19th at 3:00pm and held at her granddaughter's home, 1470 Sonora Rd. NE in Rio Rancho, NM for family and close friends. GONZALES, ROSE W. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the age of 86. She was born in Las Vegas, NM to James and Melesia Wasson. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Rey Gonzales, brothers, Eloy Wasson and Arthur Wasson, sister-in-law Stella Gonzales, and daughter-in-law Sooky Gonzales. She is survived by her son Larry Gonzales and wife Kathy, daughter Margaret Gutierrez and husband Charlie, son John Gonzales, son Richard Gonzales and wife Myra Ghattas, grandchildren Natalie DeBassige, Luz Alondra Gonzales, Jamie Gonzales, Charles Gutierrez, Lynea Gonzales, Cassandra Gutierrez, Naya Gonzales, great-grandchildren John and Nasiya Rose DeBassige, brother James Wasson and wife Viola, brother Joseph Wasson and wife Josie, sister-in-law Emma Madrid, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was an active member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. She devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren and made each one of them feel loved and cared for. She had a varied work history that included working at Kirtland Air Force Base and Albuquerque Public Schools, but her true passion was raising her children and grandchildren. The Rosary will be recited Thursday, April 18, 2013, 7:00 p.m., at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5303 Phoenix Ave NE. The Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Queen of Heaven Parish. GYULAI, WAYNE passed away on April 15, 2013 from complications of pancreatic cancer. He was born in 1944 in Detroit, Michigan and worked for the automotive industry while receiving his Master's degree from Wayne State University. He ventured to New Mexico in 1973 and lived in Truchas for two years. In 1975, he was hired by Governor Bruce King to work in the State Planning Office where he held the position of Director of the Rural Development Bureau. During the Anaya Administration, he worked in the Rural Development Economic Response Council Office. He also worked in other state offices including the Department of Finance and Administration working with the 911 system for the state, the Highway and Transportation Department (NMDOT) in the State Traffic Safety Bureau, and with the State Corporation Commission. He is survived by his Michigan-Canadian family including his sister Gayle Huszti; nephew John Huszti; Colorado cousin Shirley Smith; second cousin Greg Smith; and numerous other relatives and friends. In New Mexico he will be missed by his feline companion Newman; friends Fred and Beverly Friedman, Danielle and Lee Wilson, Ralph and Delores Prather, Muiriel Kirchmeier; high school friends Don Orie, Rick Kane, and many other friends. TAFOYA, ROSE M. Age 66, passed away with her loving family by her side on Friday, April 12, 2013. She was born on October 9, 1946 to Telesfor and Miquela (Armijo) Pacheco of Albuquerque, NM. She will be remembered for her love of shopping and her deep devotion and love for her family. Mrs. Tafoya was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Mike P. HAYDEN, LUCILLE SHERRARD Age 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, passed into the arms of Jesus Saturday, April 13, 2013. She is survived by her sons, Robert and fiancee Jerilyn, Edward, and John and wife, Melba; daughters, Susan Baca and husband, Jude, and Linda Topmiller and husband, James; nine grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; caretaker, Shelley Nunez; and numerous other relatives and friends. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis B. Hayden in 2000; parents, F. Guy and Mayme Sherrard; two grandchildren, Melissa Ann Baca and Jude Baca, Jr.; three brothers; and one sister. She was born in Hodgenville, KY in May, 1921 and lived all over the world as an Army wife. She was a house hunter supreme, living in 12 homes during her 40 years in Albuquerque. Her last residence was at La Vida Llena where she was the "Social Butterfly." She was a life master bridge player, a cosmetologist, Welcome Wagon hostess, and golf-player extraordinaire. Lucille was a member of Hoffmantown Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Services will be held at the Chester T. HONEYCUTT, ANN L. (LESLIE) Age 70 of Albuquerque, NM went to be with her Lord on April 15, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Lee Honeycutt; son, David and two grandchildren, Matthew and Madison; a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Norman and her daughters, Dallas and Rylee; brother, Ron and his wife, Clemie; brother, John and his wife, Ginny; uncle, Noel DeCastro; and cousin, Jackie Fitzsimmons. Leslie was born in Greensboro, NC and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Biloxi, MS in 1961. She met her future husband when he was attending Electronic Warfare School in Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. They were married in Hialeah, FL in October 1961 and she accompanied Lee during his many Air Force assignments throughout the country and overseas. The family settled in Albuquerque, NM in 1980 when Lee was assigned to the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center at Kirtland AFB, NM. Their son attended and graduated from The University of New Mexico. Leslie and Lee have attended Saint John's United Methodist Church since 1988. Leslie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and person. She had such a positive attitude that it flowed over to all that knew her and she never had a bad word to say about anyone. LARSON, WAYNE ROBERT 1938-2013 age 74, a resident of Tome, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013. He was born on September 2, 1938, in Mahnomen, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Emily Larson; brother, Winston Larson; sister, Wanda Larson; and uncle, Leonard. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Amy Larson; son, John and his wife Lori; daughter, Katrina and her husband Bob; and son, Karl and wife Karen. He is also survived by his sister, Winnie and her husband Douglas; five grandchildren, Jacob, Adam, Stephen, Sierra and Bodie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne served three years in the US Army, which brought him to Albuquerque, N.M. He was honorably discharged in 1960 and joined the Albuquerque Police Department where he worked until he retired in 1981. After retiring from APD, Wayne worked as a carpenter, collector of vintage building materials, and restorer of antiques. A funeral service will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Tome, NM, at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2013. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral service. LLAMAS, RAMON D. age 84, a resident of Albuquerque, was born December 30, 1928 in El Grullo, Jalisco, Mexico, passed away on April 13, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer. Mr. Llamas is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Romy Trujillo Llamas; children, Rudy Llamas and wife, Ruth, Ruben Llamas and wife, Dale, Ramon Llamas, Jr., Patricia Llamas, Vivian Llamas-Green and husband, John, Anthony Llamas and wife, Melissa, Priscilla Llamas-McKaughn and husband, Jeff, Sylvia Llamas-Gallegos and husband, Paul, Julie Llamas and boyfriend, Luis Arriaga, Leroy Llamas and wife, Lee Ann, Steven Llamas and fiancee, Jessica Garcia; sister, Ester Montes and husband, Luis; brother, Miguel Llamas and wife, Maria; twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and two on the way; one great-great-grandchild one on the way; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Ramon became a U.S. Citizen and loved politics, cooking and boxing. At the age of fifty-five he opened Ramon's Mexican Kitchen on North 4th Street and kept his customers happy for 20 years until his retirement. Previously he worked along side his good friend Eloy Serna at Cocina de Carlos and later at Eloy's Mexican Restaurant. Ramon was quick to make friends and everyone called him "Compa." He always made you feel welcome and wanted to hear how your family was doing. Mr. Llamas was preceded in death by his grandsons, Steven Llamas Jr. and Fernando Llamas. LOPEZ, ESTHER M. Esther passed away on April 12, 2013, visualizing meeting our Lord Jesus, and his mother, our Blessed Virgin Mary. Mrs. Lopez is survived by her husband, Lupe Lopez Jr. They were married October 10, 1953 at Immaculate Conception Church in Albuquerque. They were blessed with five children, eldest Jody L. Patterson who was deceased April 14, 2013 and husband, Willie Patterson, their two children, Diana and Jeffrey Patterson, Diana's children, Ernesto (Nesto) and Marissa Padilla, Jeffrey's two children, Jocelyn and William (Buddy) Patterson; second daughter Barbara A. Lopez and sons, Anthony Vitale and Jordan and Matthew Regenie; third daughter, Dr. Mary D. Lopez; son, Clifford J. Lopez and his son, Christopher Lopez. She was preceded in death by her youngest son, Richard A. Lopez; her parents, Clifford and Nancy Morelock; her brother, Malaquias Olvera, and sister, Dorothy White. Mrs. Lopez is also survived by her sister, Priscilla and brother-in-law, Max Gonzales; her sisters-in-law, Priscilla & Esmeralda Lopez and Rosalie Muniz; comadre Stella Miller; numerous nieces and nephews including Kathy Mercer and husband, Monte Mercer who traveled several times from Texas to care for her and Jody during their illness, and Nancy Montoya and Anna Cupich who spent many hours at the hospital and Hospice and family friend, Samia Hindi. She is also survived by her much loved relatives from Colorado Mickey and Tony Espinosa and their children and grandchildren, and by her godchildren, Orlando Olvera, Anna Cupich, Anna Christine Balderas, Michael White, Yvette Aguirre, and Brian Aguirre. Mrs. Lopez cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren who called her "Abie" as they could not pronounce "Abuela" - grandmother in Spanish. She looked forward to seeing her family every chance she got. Mrs. Lopez was raised by her Aunt, Pacomia Espinosa in her early life. Together with her cousins, they relocated from Colorado to California to work in the factories to support the war effort. Mrs. Lopez babysat with children a little younger than herself while their parents worked in the factories. She rejoined her family in Albuquerque in the 1940s. She attended Washington Middle School, Albuquerque High School and graduated from Saint Mary's in 1952. During her teens she worked in stores in Downtown Central. In her married life she worked at a company that provided music to restaurants by remote service. She saved enough money to buy their first car, a 1950 Plymouth, while her husband was in England on a three month rotation. While her husband was assigned to Sandia Base on two tours, she worked on various elections and took pride in her work. While her husband worked in D.C., she volunteered at the Ft. Belvoir Library. Mrs. Lopez and their growing family accompanied her husband on assignments to Spain, Panama and Argentina. Mrs. Lopez loved her military life and helped her husband in his career, from which he retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. Mrs. Lopez and her husband were very active at the Shrine of Saint Bernadette's church ministries. At one time, she belonged to the Altar Rosary Society, the Baptismal Ministry, the St. Vincent DePaul Ministry and was in the first appointed group of Eucharistic Ministers. She also joined and met with Bible Study groups. In Panama, she was an active member of the Beta Sigma Phi. Esther enjoyed a full life with her family. She bowled in many leagues including the Grandmother League in Albuquerque. She loved the Dallas Cowboys and the UNM Lobos. She also attended many soccer games of her daughter, sons and grandchildren and great grandchildren. We miss her so much, and are so sad to see her go. On a visit by a member of the Anna Kaseman Hospice group, Regina asked Mrs. Lopez what she thought about death. Esther answered, "I am looking forward to meeting Jesus and his Blessed Mother, "The Blessed Virgin Mother." It was said with such a profound expression in her eyes. Rosary will be recited Friday, April 19, 2013, 6:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. A Communion Service will be Saturday, April 20, 2013, 9:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Road NE. Ruth and her husband, John moved from Ohio to Albuquerque in 1948. She was active in the Republican Party in the 1950's - 1970's and was a past President of the Republican Women. PAINTER, DOROTHY R. "DOTTIE" Age 84, a resident of Los Lunas, died Thursday, February 7, 2013. She was born in Akron, Ohio and is survived by her daughter, Denise Painter; her granddaughters, Kerry St. Andre, Amber McBride, Nicole Woods and Callie Black; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great- grandchildren; her sister, Priscilla Hart; nephew, Lynn B. Kee Jr.; and many family and friends. PATTERSON, JODY LOUISE (LOPEZ) passed away on April 14, 2013 surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer two days following the death of her beloved mother, also from cancer. Jody is survived by her husband of 39 years, Willie R. Patterson; children, Diana Patterson and Jeffrey Patterson, and grandchildren Ernesto (Nesto) and Marisa Padilla, Jocelynne and William (Buddy) Patterson. She's also survived by her father, Lupe Lopez, Jr.; siblings, Barbara Lopez, Dr. Mary Lopez, and Clifford Lopez; brothers-in-law, Jim Patterson, Jay Blount, and Lynn Patterson; nephews, Anthony Vitale, Jordan and Matthew Regenie, Christopher Lopez, Aaron Patterson; and niece, Tiffany Rouse; godparents, Max and Priscilla Gonzales; aunt, Stella Miller, and numerous cousins and close friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Esther Lopez; brother, Richard Lopez, and aunt, Dorothy White. Jody graduated from Balboa High School in the Canal Zone, Panama in 1972. She was very supportive of both her father and her husband throughout their military careers. She was a long time teacher's aide at Kids Under Construction (KUCI) a Christian Daycare community of St. Stephens United Methodist Church. Jody loved her time at KUCI and her "children" as she called the young boys and girls attending class with her. This was her calling and it was the happiest time in her life. Her strong faith gave her peace during her difficult battle with cancer. Jody volunteered for St. Stephen's Methodist Church Sidewalk Saturdays bible study program for displaced children. She thoroughly loved to participate in BSF (Bible Study Fellowship). Other than her love of God, family and close friends, Jody enjoyed nothing more than to spend time golfing. She learned the game of golf later in life, but it was something that gave her great joy. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, good friend to many, but the role she cherished most was that of a good Christian. PONCE, THERESA D. Age 58, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013. She was born on October 19, 1954 to Pete and Petra (Avila) Valtierra in Los Angeles, CA. She loved and was "Super-Kind" to animals which led to her job as a supervisor at an animal shelter. Her family meant everything to her and in her spare time she enjoyed cross-stitching, sewing, crocheting and collecting teapots. She was very hospitable and enjoyed cooking for everyone. RIOS, LIANDRA H. was born in Cameron, TX on March 13, 1921 to Pedro and Estanislada Rios. After a brief and unexpected illness, she passed away on February 3, 2013. Interment was held on February 8, 2013 in Ft Worth, TX. Liandra was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Estanislada Rios; brothers, Hilario, Vincente and Jeronimo Rios; and nephew, Richard A. Rios, who cared and looked after her until his untimely death. She is survived by her sisters, Angela Rios, Petra Rios, Cecilia Gutierrez; and nephew/caregiver, Victor Rios of Albuquerque, NM; in addition to many nieces and nephews throughout California, New Mexico and Texas. The final two years of Liandra's life was spent with family in Albuquerque, however the majority of her life was in Ft. Worth where she worked and retired after more than 50 years as a seamstress. ROBERTS, MARY JANE "JANE" Died on Sunday, April 14, 2013. Jane was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on November 2, 1918, to Frieda Mineck Davis and Elmer Davis. Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Ken, her brother, George W. Davis, her sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Jones, and brother-in-law, Mack Jones of Columbia, Missouri. She is survived by three nieces, Margaret Shull of (Warrensburg), Missouri, Elizabeth Anderson of (Silver Spring), Maryland and Bronwen Ashburn of (Johnson City), Tennessee; her five great-nephews, Henry Shull, Eric and David Anderson, and James and John Ashburn; and cousin, Don Stamy, of Iowa. Jane was raised on a farm near Cedar Rapids and attended elementary, high school and college in Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Coe College in 1941. Jane was an elementary school teacher for 35 years, 29 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Jane lived her life for children. She and Kenneth Pike Roberts were married for 64 years, and she has missed him deeply since his death in November of 2007. She and Ken founded The Endowment Foundation of All Faiths Home over twenty-five years ago. Jane was a Patron of Delta Gamma Sorority and in charge of building the Delta Gamma house on the UNM campus in 1965. Jane and Ken have been scholarship donors for students attending Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for many years. She received the Award of Merit from Coe College in 1986 and the Jefferson Award in 1987. For many years she was an active member of The First Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque. Jane was a very caring and thoughtful person and will be missed by her family and many friends. RUIZ, NICOLASA LOPEZ Age 92, passed away Friday April 12, 2013 at home with her family at her side. Mrs. Ruiz was preceded by husband, Salvador Ruiz and two sons, Anthony and Joseph; parents, Joe and Perfedia Lopez. She leaves behind her beloved children, Roberto Ruiz, Thomas Ruiz, Elaine Ruiz, Augustine Ruiz and wife, Julie, Gary Ruiz all of Albuquerque; sister Marie of Denver Colorado; ten grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Nicolasa was born September 10, 1920 to Joe and Perfedia Lopez in Pueblo Colorado. She later met and married Salvador Ruiz. They relocated to New Mexico and settled in Albuquerque in 1958. She worked in domestics and apparel at McClellans and Bella Hess department store. After retiring she devoted her time to "Our Lady of the Assumption Church" where she had been a communicate member since 1958. She suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis, but insisted on being independent and taking care of herself until Saturday, April 6, 2013 when she had a massive stroke. On April 12, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. the Angels carried her home to Jesus. She was loved very much and will be greatly missed. "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, April 18, 2013 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. Visitation will be one hour prior. SANCHEZ, DEREK FRANK Derek, age 47, originally from Albuquerque, NM, passed away on April 11, 2013. Sanchez was involved in a high speed racing accident on April 6, 2013 at the NHRA Summitracing.com Nationals at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Derek is survived by his racing partner, Jeffrey Nolte; his mother Rosie Maroone and husband Jim Maroone; sister Audra Sanchez; father Frank Sanchez and wife Terry and stepsister Sarah Orozco; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; as well as his extended Drag Racing family. Derek graduated from Highland High School, Albuquerque, NM in 1984. He then graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He was currently attending the University of Arizona studying for his Master's in Library and Information Sciences. Sanchez currently resided in Yuma, Arizona and was working at the Yuma County Library District, while working on his Master's Degree. Derek had two passions in life, drag racing and books. He and Nolte raced on the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series for the past ten years. They recently campaigned a 1933 Ford Roadster with Derek's stepfather, Jim Maroone. He was commonly referred to as the "150 MPH Librarian". Derek's other passion was books. He loved to read and loved to share his knowledge with his family and friends. Derek was a wonderful and caring human being and will be so missed not only by his family and friends but by his extended drag racing family. SILECCHIO, THERESA Age 90, a longtime resident of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, April 14, 2013. She was born on February 28, 1923 to Salvatore and Frances (Piccolo) Umana in Chicago, IL and moved to Brooklyn, NY at the age of two. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt and friend who loved shopping, dining at restaurants, and spending time with her family and friends. She lovingly volunteered at St. Joseph's Westside Hospital along with her best friend, Maria DeLeo, from 2001-2003. Her sense of humor is legendary and will be greatly missed. She, also loved living at The Fairwinds and enjoyed the friends she made, as well as the gracious staff and the amenities that The Fairwinds has to offer. SIMMS, ROSE MARIE Age 94, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, born April 16, 1918 to Peter V. and Gertrude M. Archibeck, died April 14, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett E. VELEZ, THELMA LEAH Age 80, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away at her home on April 12, 2013, surrounded by her family. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Velez; and her beloved dog, Charlie. Thelma was a true native of Albuquerque. She was born on February 27, 1933 to her Navajo father John Bahe Johnson, and Acoma mother Josephine Hunt. She kept close ties to family in Acoma Pueblo, Santa Ana Pueblo, and Indian Wells, AZ. As a child she participated in many traditional ceremonies and parades. She was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, class of 1950. She was a dedicated civil servant with 36 years of service to the US Army, DOD DASA, US Air Force, with a majority of her career working as a senior investigator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
