ANDERSON, RUTH M. Age 99, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013. She was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on March 20, 1913. Ruth grew up in Ft. Stanton, New Mexico. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Carrizozo, New Mexico. During World War II Ruth did her part to help the war effort and worked as an original "Rosie the Riveter". She was also, an original employee of Pioneer Wear. She is preceded in death by her husband James Anderson. Ruth is survived by her granddaughter Jillian Swift and husband James; nephew James B. Landers and wife Amelia. Ruth will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. BAYS, LUCILLE Age 88, of Albuquerque, died Monday, January 14, 2013. BOLL, MARY M. passed quietly into God's eternal care on January 8, 2013 at Alb. Heights Nursing Home. She was 94. She was predeceased by Bernard (Ben) Boll, husband and is survived by her daughter Kathleen Lewis (husband William) West Palm Beach, Fla.; and Ben's adult children, Kenneth Boll (son), wife Cheryl of Bernalillo, NM; as well as grandchildren Chris, Daniel, (Cathy): and daughter Andrea Cowen, husband Donald; grandchildren Heather, Bridget, and Deirdre. BRYAN, SALLY LUCAS Age 86, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 after a long illness. Sally was born September 28, 1926 to Charles Cummins Lucas and Louise Linebaugh Lucas of Houston, TX. She is survived by her sister, Margaret C. Hawk; daughter, Carrie Bryan Atkins and husband, John; step-granddaughter, Addie Delahoussaye and husband, Dayne; step-grandson J. R. Atkins and wife, Cori; and great-grandchildren, Lily, Jane, Claire, and Jack. She is also survived by her close friend, Betty Sharrer; and her beloved dog, Clayton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years, Garlan D. Bryan, Jr.; brother-in-law, Robert M. Hawk; and lifelong friends Frances Reed and Martha Barron. She enjoyed volunteering, and spent many years as a "book lady" at the Animal Humane Thrift Store. According to Sally's wishes, private services will be held at a later date. CLENSAY, ARTHUR A. passed away on Saturday, the 12th of January 2013. Born 21 May 1925, Art grew up In Los Angeles, California. He served in the Navy during World War II and after being honorably discharged, joined the Los Angeles Fire Department. Art worked his way up through the ranks and in the early 1980's retired as a Chief in the Greater Los Angeles County Fire Department. After this successful and honored career, Art moved to New Mexico and up to the time of his passing made his home in Los Ranchos.

CORLEY, MILDRED MCDADE Age 98, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away peacefully on Monday January 14, 2013. Mildred was born in Hugo, Oklahoma on September 4th, 1914. She was the oldest of four children to Joseph and Una Boone. She grew up in Hugo, Oklahoma and married Ralph McDade in 1931. At an early age Mildred contracted TB; was in the hospital for a two year period and after recovering moved to New Mexico. She spent her life in Oklahoma, Arizona and the last thirty years in Albuquerque. Mildred worked in the Automotive Industry all her working life and retired from Munos Industries in 1988. Mildred's church involvement was very important to her. She was a member of Montgomery Church of Christ and attended church until she lost her eyesight and was unable to walk or sit for any period of time. Members from the Church came to her house on a regular basis. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; brother Fred Boone; sister Sadie Smith; and grandson Scott McDade. She is survived by her son Bobby McDade and his wife Cheryll; son Gerry Corley; grandchildren Stephanie, husband Marvin Filmer, Cinda McDade, Caitlyn and Gwendolyn Corley, Jennifer, husband Matthew Moya, Kevin,wife Desiree Baca; great-grandchildren Marshall and Brittany Filmer, Jocelyn, Jacob, Nathanael and Silas Moya, Aubrey and Eli Baca; and one great-great-grand daughter Brianna Filmer all of Albuquerque; Vivian Gonzales, her care giver for the past 3 years whom she considered to be her daughter, and Cheryll's mother Iva Lawrence, her best friend; many nieces and nephews in California, Texas and Oklahoma. She loved her church and has been ready to go for some time to be with the Lord. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. GIRON, STELLA Stella passed away at the age of 83 after a long and difficult illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Florian Giron. She is survived by five children, Glenn Giron, Patrick Giron, Jeanette Garcia, Shirley Giron and Karl Giron. She had nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Clorinda Montoya and one brother Eliseo Saavedra. She loved and was greatly loved by her children and grandchildren. Our mother will be greatly missed. GONZALES, KATIE O. Age 75, a resident of Albuquerque, passed into paradise surrounded by family, friends and loved ones to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 14, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Raymond Gonzales of Albuquerque, NM; Son Jeffery R. Gonzales and wife Melissa of Broomfield, CO; granddaughter Catherine Gonzales of Honolulu, HI; Daughter Sandra Rasnake and husband Tony of Colorado Springs CO; siblings Cruz Ornelas and partner Virginia Cooper, Andrea Huebner, Richard Ornelas and wife Veronica, Isidro Ornelas and wife Mary Ann, and many other family and friends. Mrs. Gonzales was preceded in death by her parents Octaviano and Lupe Ornelas. Katie grew up on her parent's farm in Luis Lopez, New Mexico. She met her husband at a Sadie Hawkins dance. They became sweethearts and married. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Because her husband relocated about the country as an engineer, she took care of her family through many moves. She lived in Colorado, Montana, Washington, South Dakota, California and back to New Mexico. She also greatly supported her Navy son with visits to Annapolis MD, Texas, Meridian MS, Oak Harbor, WA, New Orleans, LA, Tokyo Japan and Honolulu HI. She also traveled to Alaska, various places in Mexico, Florida, Las Vegas NV, and the Bahamas. Katie was a faithful member of the Shrine of St. Bernadette serving in the Alter Rosary Society, as a Eucharistic Minister with her husband, and a Catechist. Mrs. Gonzales had served on the boards of the YMCA and the Dominican Retreat House. She completed the four year Religious Education Program in Theology at the Benet Hill Monastery in Colorado Springs, CO. She was an avid supporter of the military and of disabled veterans. She worked as a floral designer and in promotions and advertising. She appeared in a commercial with her husband for Presbyterian Senior Health Care. She was a devoted dog lover who loved and took care many over the years. Her favorite dog, a white poodle named Sir Jaws, will be waiting for her by Rainbow Bridge. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, January 18, 2013, 6:00 pm at FRENCH - Lomas, with Deacon Al McLane reciting with visitation beginning at 5:00 pm. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 9:00 am at the Shrine of St Bernadette, 11401 Indian School RD NE with celebrant Reverend Leo Padget and Deacon Al McLane. HARTMAN, EDWARD MARTIN Age 94, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2013. He was born to John Frederick Christian Hartman and Anna Laura Malinda Waterman Hartman in New Bremen, Ohio on February 13, 1918. The second youngest of eight children, he helped his family survive the depression by making wooden boxes for the local creamery, delivering newspapers on both morning and evening routes, and other miscellaneous work when he could find it. The only one of his siblings to go to college, he lived under the stadium at Ohio State and worked in local restaurants to pay his rent and tuition while pursuing a degree in accounting. He graduated in 1940 and took his first job on Wall Street in New York City. He then worked for the same accounting firm in Detroit, MI during which time he earned his Certified Public Accountant designation. In 1941 he joined the U.S. Army Air Corp. In 1943 he received commission as a 2nd Lieutenant while being trained at Harvard University. The next four years he served in the Air Corp as a Statistical Officer at various training bases. After discharge from the service in 1947, he moved to Clovis, NM to operate a CPA firm. In 1950, he was elected President of the New Mexico Society of CPA's. In 1951, he was appointed New Mexico State Finance Officer by Governor Edwin L. Mechem for four terms. In between terms he started his own natural gas company, Manana Gas, and lived and worked on projects in Artesia and Farmington. Later, Governor David Cargo appointed him to a fifth and sixth term as State Finance Director from 1967 to 1971. As Director of Finance he developed a reputation as an honest and competent public official, who was respected by members of both political parties. He resigned his position to run for Governor in 1970 and was defeated by Pete Domenici in the primary, who in turn lost the general election to Bruce King. He returned to private life and ran his natural gas company Manana Gas. In 1972 he was chairman of the Richard Nixon re-election committee and was active in New Mexico Republican party politics throughout his life. He was also active in community groups- a 32nd degree Mason for over 50 years, a member of the Albuquerque Petroleum club for 20 years, and member of the Albuquerque OB's club for over 20 years. He lived to work and showed up at his company office every morning at 8:00a.m. well into his 90's. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Hartman; his son, Doug Hartman; his daughter, Phyllis Hartman; and step-daughters, Mary Werner, Barbara Kruse, Debi Kruse, Mary Baker, Ann Hafliger; and numerous grandchildren and in-laws. Cremation will take place and a public Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at Sandia Presbyterian Church, 10704 Paseo del Norte NE, Albuquerque, 87111. HURT, LLOYD LEE Born September 9, 1919 in Las Cruces, NM. Preceded in death by his son, Rick Lee Hurt and his brothers, Alvin Duncan and Everett Cecil Hurt; his parents, Lloyd Lee and Elizabeth Stewart Hurt. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Louise Stroud; daughters, Shirley Richardson and Sharon Easley; seven grandchildren, Michael Richardson, Mary Davis, Brian Richardson, Michelle Hurt, Jason Hurt, Kimberley Hurt, and John David Easley; four great-grandchildren, Morgan Davis, Wyatt Davis, Brady Richardson, and Caden Easley. JOHNSON, JOHN ANDREW SR. John went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, January 14, 2013, just over a month short of his 98th birthday. Born in Leland, Mississippi in 1915, he is survived in this life by his son Harold; nieces and nephews, Jeannie Johnson Chunn and husband, Bob, Cyrus C. Johnson III and wife, Kathy, Virginia LaCharite and husband, Raymond, Vernon Pleasant and wife, Sally; and many friends from the First Baptist Church of Albuquerque where he was a member for nearly 66 years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marion Anding Johnson; his very special son, John Andrew Johnson Jr.; his infant daughter, Janell; parents, Cyrus Cleveland Johnson and Mary Rebecca Pippin Johnson; brother, Dr. Cyrus Cleveland Johnson II and wife, Jean; sisters and brothers in law, Nell Anding Pickett and husband, Haley Aubrey, Claude Ellis Anding, Jr. and wife, Virginia, Harold Bell Anding, and Janie Anding Pleasant and husband, Sessions. A graduate of Leland High School, he attended the University of Texas and the University of Mississippi where he was a Beta, from which he received his 75 year pin. He met his wife in 1939 and was married in 1944 in Flora Baptist Church in Flora, Mississippi, after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army where he served as a surgical tech. Living in Bonham, Texas until 1947, they moved to Albuquerque where they bought a house on the edge of town in which they lived the rest of their lives. He was in the real estate and tire businesses until going to work for Sandia Corporation in 1951, retiring in 1981 after which again he sold real estate. He enjoyed being active in church where he taught children in Training Union, and devoted his life to the care of his special needs son, John until his death in 2009. A persistent and daily prayer warrior, he was the most thankful of men for his many blessings from God, especially the sweet everyday occurrences so many are prone to overlook. He loved his family devotedly and his Lord devoutly. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 3:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. JONES, THOMAS CLAUDE Age 82, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Jones; daughter, Robin Lynn and husband Scot Stubenhofer of Overland Park, KS, daughter, Valerie May Jones of Haltom City, TX, son, Scott Thomas Jones of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Beth Stubenhofer, Alex Stubenhofer, Sam Stubenhofer, and Elijah Jones; and brother, James Cuvier of Hooper, CO. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Cuvier Holland and Grace Rosella Jones; and brother, Robert Bruce Jones. He retired from the Department of Energy in 1990, with many recognitions including the NASA Achievement Award. He was also the 2011 Alumnus of the Year for Adams State University. KOLE, ANNE C. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away to join the Lord on Monday, January 14, 2013. She was 90 years old. Anne is survived by her sons, Vincent D.R. Kole and Nicholas R. Kole; and her daughter-in-law, Anne L. Kole. Mrs. Kole was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Kole. She was a member of Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church here in Albuquerque. Anne and her husband moved to Tularosa, NM in 1948. Raymond was the band director of the Tularosa Public Schools for 24 years. Anne was a homemaker until the death of her husband 40 years ago. She then worked as a cashier at the Gibson Lovelace Medical Center for 18 years before retiring and volunteered at the Gibson Center for another 12 years after retirement. Always a cheerful and encouraging soul, Anne will be deeply missed by all who knew her. LEONARDS, JOYCE D. Age 65, lost her ten year battle to breast cancer on Friday, January 11, 2013. She was born on October 20, 1947 in Roswell, NM. She was preceded in death by parents, Ira and Sybil O'Neal; son Scott Leonards; and granddaughter Amelia Rose Jones. MILLER, LOUISE Age 91, a resident of Albuquerque for 67 years, wife of Coach Mickey Miller, mother of Linda Kelly, Lee Parks, Lynne Carson, and grandmother to Dan Parks went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Louise came to Albuquerque in 1946 to write and to become the Society Page Editor for the Albuquerque Tribune. There she was introduced to her future husband, Mickey. They were members of First United Methodist Church, where she researched, wrote and published the "Book of Windows" about the historic stained glass. Louise was a licensed pilot during the 1940's. She returned to journalism as "Ask Miss Action Line" for the Albuquerque Journal. Louise was active in AAUW all of her life. She is also survived by her sons-in-law, Sid, Randy, and Rich. MILLUS, GEORGE "POPO" After 89 years of life, George "Popo" Millus left the wide world of sports on January 14th, 2013. An avid sports fan who enjoyed the Lobos, the Eagles, baseball, and horse racing will be greatly missed by his family, friends, his dog "Scooter", and the network of ESPN. George was born on June 15, 1923 in Elizabeth, New Jersey where he grew up. His family had emigrated from Lithuania and he was proud of his heritage. After high school he entered the military in which he honorably served his country for 13 years in the Air Force. For the majority of his career he worked for ACF and GE until he retired. George was a fun loving man who was always ready with something comical to say to anyone who would listen. He loved his family and friends, a good cigar, the great outdoors, a good cigar, Las Vegas, a good cigar, going to lunch on Fridays, and his dogs. He is survived by his son; two grandsons; five great-granddaughters; five great-great-grandchildren; and his niece. PHILLIPS, CLAUDE C. (PHIL) JR. COL. US ARMY (RET.) Born July 12, 1920 in Knoxville, TN and passed away on January 11, 2013 at the age of 92. Claude grew up in Knoxville, and after graduating high school, attended military training camp for two summers, completed an ROTC program, and then joined the Army. His first assignment was in a horse cavalry (the 6th). In September of 1942, Claude married his sweetheart, Dorothy Pickering, and one week later was deployed to England during WWII. Claude was discharged in 1945 and went to work in his father's tire business. In 1950, he rejoined the Army, served in the Korean conflict, and was stationed all around the world. Claude retired from the Army in Savannah, GA and then moved to Albuquerque to begin his second career in real estate. Claude was an avid golfer, played tennis, and loved gardening and being a world class beach bum, spending time at the beach house he built for his family in Tybee Island, GA where lots of memories were made with family and friends. Claude is survived by his sons, Claude C. Phillips, III and wife Ardith, and David Phillips and wife Linda; daughters, Julie Gibertini and husband Mark and Patricia Gutierrez and husband Ariel; grandson, Jason Phillips; granddaughters, Jennifer Phillips, Michelle Jones and husband Ryan, and Alison Phillips; his twin brother, George Phillips; and sister, Viola Tolbart. Claude recently lost the love of his life of 70 years. Services will be held Friday, January 18, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE, with a reception to follow at the church. Pallbearers will be Claude (Phil) Phillips III, David Phillips, Mark Gibertini, and Ariel Gutierrez. QUINONES, RON On January 12th, at the age of 54 yrs, Ron Quinones lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. Ron was born to Emena Quinones and the late L.A. (Luke Quinones), in La Oroya, Peru. Ron lived his life here in Albuquerque and was a successful Real-Estate Broker, Owner and President of Imperial Group Realtors.
