WADSTROM -- ANN K., DR. With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Dr. Ann Kennedy Wadstrom of Los Alamos, New Mexico. She passed away on Sunday April 15, 2012 at the age of 80. She was born August 5, 1931 in Slippery Rock Pennsylvania to James A. and Mildred Fleming Kennedy, and had six siblings. She made an incredible difference in the lives and hearts of people locally, regionally and nationally. She graduated from Slippery Rock High School, Warren Wilson College, and Wheaton College. She received her MD at the Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania. She did her medical internship at Chestnut Hill Hospital. She completed her residency for Anesthesiology at the Graduate Hospital University of Pennsylvania and later the University of Utah College of Medicine. She was married on June 23, 1956 to Howard Wadstrom, MD. They adopted four extraordinary children Barbara, Jeff, Mark and Carol and soon after moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico in 1965 where she was the first board certified anesthesiologist in New Mexico north of Albuquerque. Ann was a Fellow for the American College of Anesthesiologists, a diplomat for the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American College of Medical Quality (ACMQ) and then went on to be a Representative of the ACMQ on American Medical Association National Advisory Council on Violence and Abuse. She was a staff Anesthesiologist for Holy Cross Hospital; a Clinical Instructor for the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Utah College of Medicine and was the staff anesthesiologist for the Los Alamos Medical Center for over 25 years. She was the Chairman for the Utilization Review Committee for over 25 years. She was very active in the community both nationally and locally. She was a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, Internal Anesthesia Research Society, American Society Regional Anesthesia, American Medical Association, New Mexico State Medical Society, New Mexico Society of Anesthesiologists, Society of Ambulatory Anesthesia, President of Los Alamos Medical Society, and President of the American College of Utilization Review Physicians. Ann was very active in the community serving as President of the Los Alamos Republican Women and Regional A Director of New Mexico Federation of Republican Women. She served on the Los Alamos Planning and Zoning Commission, was a member of the Los Alamos Rotary Club, and served on the Boards of the Los Alamos Retirement Community for Sombrillo and Aspen Ridge Homes. She headed the annual campaign for the United Way two different times and was the Campaign Chair for Nona Bowman for County Council as well as the Chairman for Jemez House. As a longtime member of the United Church of Los Alamos, she served as President of Church Council, Chair of the Women's Christian Service Society, and Chair of the Gifts and Memorials Committee as well as being active in both circle and bible study groups. She will be remembered for her generous nature and her willingness to help people. She was a strong woman of faith who lived her convictions for all to see. Whenever she saw someone hurting or a need to be filled, she was always the first one to act and sacrifice what she had. She also carried that faith internationally through medical missions to Honduras, Mexico and Taiwan. She loved her family with all of her heart and her pride and joy were her nine grandchildren. Ann is survived by Howard Wadstrom; her four children, Barbara Whitacre, Jeff Wadstrom, Mark Wadstrom and Carol Levandoski; and her nine grandchildren, Kyle Wadstrom, Cory Wadstrom, Cameron Wadstrom, Bradley Levandoski, Christine Wadstrom, Christopher Wadstrom, Jacob Wadstrom, James Whitacre and David Whitacre. The family would like to invite anyone who wishes, to come and share in a time of remembrance and celebration of her life. Her memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday May 12th at the United Church of Los Alamos, 2525 Canyon Road with a reception to follow. She will also have a Vespers Gravesite Service at 5:00pm at Guaje Pines Cemetery that evening. WILLIAMS -- JOSIE LOPEZ Was born in Santa Cruz, NM on January 19, 1941 and passed on April 9, 2012 in Phoenix, AZ at the age of 71. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Williams; parents, Pablo and Siria Lopez; brother, Paul Lopez. Josie is survived by her two sons Paul (fiance Cindy) Williams and Lee (wife Pam) Williams; brother Gus (wife Susan) Lopez; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Lucia, Carmen, Jessica and David. WITH -- CARL L. JR. Age 88, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, April 30, 2012. He is survived by his sons, Carl J. With and wife, Arlene of Denver, CO, and John W. With and wife, Rebecca; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Helen; his parents, Carl L. and Katherine With. He served our country during WWII in the United States Coast Guard. Carl was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and had worked for Mountain Bell/Qwest for many years before his retirement. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, May 6, 2012, 7:00 PM at French - Westside Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 7, 2012, 8:30 am at Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish, 2621 Vermont NE, Albuquerque. YORK -- JIMMY FRANK Born August 19, 1934 in Quanah, TX to E.D. York and Ollie B. He passed away May 2, 2012. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, sister, Shirley Burke and brother, Don York. He is survived by his former spouse, Cozette York; his daughters, Debra Miller and Teri York; son-in-law, Danny Miller; grandchildren, Paul, James, Alyssa and Valerie Ashbacher, Taryn Heller and Faith York; his brother-in law, Nicky Nelson; and other family members around the globe. He was an experienced hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. He graduated from Joplin High School in May, 1953 and enlisted into the Marines in September, 1953. He served eight years and received an Honorable discharge. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and several Good Conduct Medals. His last discharge was in 1961. Once a civilian, he began working at Mountain Bell. He retired to Elephant Butte, NM in 1984 and has lived there since. He loved his family, gardening, canning, rock hunting and prospecting. We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. He will be missed. BOETTCHER -- EDITH L. Age 98, passed away on April 29, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Ethel Boettcher, and her brother, Joe Boettcher, all of Aztec, New Mexico. Edith was born in Unionville, Missouri on December 1st, 1913. She moved with her parents to New Mexico when she was two years old and lived in New Mexico for the rest of her life. Edith enjoyed a successful career as an accountant. She retired at age 70. Edith had a wide range of interests. She was an avid reader. She loved art, classical music and gardening. She had exquisite taste and she was known for her elegant dress. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining. Edith also enjoyed traveling and took extended tours of Europe and Mexico. Edith was a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church where she was very active. She also spent several years as a volunteer for Presbyterian Hospital, and received the New Mexico Hospital Association's "Salute to Excellence" in 1995. Edith is survived by niece, Jo Marie Anderson and husband, Jerry of Albuquerque; niece, Karen Spears and husband, Guy of Osage, Wyoming; nephew, Steven Boettcher and wife, Vicky of Albuquerque and great niece, Kymberlee Boettcher of Albuquerque. A Memorial Service in Edith's honor will be held at Central United Methodist Church, 201 University Blvd. N.E. at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. BRISCOE -- ALTA LEE Age 98, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 following a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert B. Briscoe; daughter, June Groff; parents, Albert and June Black; sister, Janice Roche; brothers, Al Black and Ed Black. She is survived by her son Robert B. Briscoe II and wife, Maryvonne; three granddaughters, Jennie Briscoe Spradlin and husband, Ron, Lara Groff Ambrose and husband, Neal, Felicia Groff White and husband, Todd; six great-grandchildren, Vanessa and Robby Spradlin, Javier and Annick Ambrose, Nathan and Preston White; her sister, Gladys Black Smart; nephews, Rolf Black and wife, Dorothy, Bill Black and wife, Sarilyn, John Black and wife, Joan, Randy Black and wife, Rene and Warren Smart; nieces, Sheri Smart Neuman, husband, Dick, Kathy Smart Morgan and husband, Bill, Jane Alice Black Davidson; Sally Black Ruscitti and husband, Frank, Amy Black, their children and grandchildren. Alta was born in Myra, West Virginia on April 13, 1914. She and her family moved to Roswell, NM in 1926 for her mother's health. Six months later they moved to Albuquerque. She graduated from UNM in 1934. Was married to the love of her life Bob in 1937. She was a second grade teacher in the Albuquerque School System for years. Serving the family as pallbearers include Ron Spradlin, Neil Ambrose, Todd White, Bill Morgan, Richard Groff and Dick Neuman. There will be a visitation on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at French - Westside. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Paradise Hills Methodist Church, 4700 Paradise Hills Blvd., N.W. MARSHALL -- PHILLIP T. SR. Age 83, passed away peacefully April 30, 2012 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born and raised on a farm in Pittsford, MI with his four siblings. He attended Michigan State University where he fought as a middle-lightweight on the boxing team. He later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he was on the boxing team. He went on to marry Anita J. Connors in Rochester, NY, and raised eight of their eleven children on a farm in New York. In 1964, when their ninth child was six weeks old, they decided to travel west to Arizona. They stopped to rest at a motel on Central Avenue and decided to reside in Albuquerque where a few years later had their last two daughters. Phil worked more than 40 years in the commercial and residential remodeling business in Albuquerque with his sons. He was preceded in death by his little sister Patricia; his mother Ada Mae and father Howard; his son Michael; and his brothers Dick and Hiram. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anita J. Marshall; and his children, Philip T. Marshall Jr. of Leesburg, VA, Richard Marshall of Albuquerque, Robert Marshall of Albuquerque, Mary Marshall of Albuquerque, Father Jim Marshall of Los Lunas, Joe Marshall of Albuquerque, Pastor John Marshall of Ruidoso, Annie Leos of Albuquerque, Anita Andrews of Albuquerque, and Patricia Romero of Albuquerque. Phil is also survived by his sister Nancy Baker of Hanover, MI, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was blessed with 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren whom he adored. PADILLA -- RALPH K. Age 51, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, went to be with our Lord Monday, April 30, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly A. Padilla; son, Ralph Edward Padilla; daughters, Kristine Louise Padilla and Nicole Marie Padilla; granddaughter, I'Raeah B. Macklin; grandson, De'Mauni L. Padilla all of Albuquerque; brother, Ronny A. Padilla and wife, Marie of Peralta, NM; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Mr. Padilla was preceded in death by his parents, Edward B. and Susie B. Padilla; and brothers, Eddie and Louie Padilla. Ralph grew up in the Kirtland Addition. He graduated from Albuquerque High in 1979 and attended T.V.I. He was a loyal and dedicated employee of Diamond Publishing. He WAS the Paramedic and Firefighter News.
