ARBALLO -- GILBERT ARVIZO Age 90, went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday, August 6, 2011. He passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 20, 1920 to Agapito and Josepha Arvizo, in Tempe, AZ. "Gil" as his army buddies called him, was a brave WWII Veteran who served in the 68th Armored Infantry Battalion in Central Europe. Some of his decorations and citations were, the Bronze Star; Good Conduct Medal; Presidential Unit Citation; European-Africa-Middle Eastern Campaign Medals with three Bronze Service Stars; Combat Infantry Badge First Award, just to name a few. Gilbert accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior at a young age of 22 and went on to become a Deacon and Minister. His first Pastorship of the Apostolic Church was in Santa Maria, CA, then Las Cruces, NM; Silver City, NM and Albuquerque, NM. In his later years he was a Pastor of three small Churches in Tecolotito, NM; Las Vegas, NM and Lovington, NM, he also served as an Elder and Bishop. Gilbert was a man of prayer; he loved the word of God, a man of great faith and lived to please the Lord. He was well loved by family, friends and brethren. He had a jolly disposition and was very optimistic because of his great trust in the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Rosa Cordova-Arballo, the mother of his children; two brothers Hector and David and granddaughter Rosalinda Hernandez. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife Consuelo of 19 years; sons, Richard Medina and wife Martha of Santa Maria, CA, Joe Arballo and wife Becky of San Diego, CA, David Arballo and wife Enedina of Las Cruces, NM; one daughter Rose Saenz and husband Luis of Albuquerque, NM; sisters Mary of San Diego, CA and Oliva of Oxnard, CA; brothers Alex of San Diego, CA and Mario of Oxnard, CA; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. A Visitation and will take place Thursday, August 11, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at South Valley Apostolic Church, 1242 Atrisco Dr. SW. with a Memorial Service to follow. BROWNE -- REV. ROBERT O. Age 86, passed away suddenly at home on July 2, 2011. He lived a remarkable life, highlighted by his gifts of comedy, ordained ministry and a deep commitment to activism. His entertainment experience began in 1942 when he was recruited from Webster Groves High School in Missouri to be employed as a professional dancer in the St. Louis Municipal Opera. In the following years, he worked in radio and local theater groups. In 1946, Bob was drafted into the Army and served as Entertainment Director at Camp Stoneman, coordinating entertainment shows for the troops slated to be shipped overseas from California bases. During this time, he was also working in night clubs in San Francisco as a "stand up" comedian. Upon release from the Army in 1947, he continued appearing in nigh clubs, legitimate theater and radio productions in California. The GI Bill enabled Bob to return to St. Louis where he attended St. Louis University and received a B.S. in Psychology, plus two years of post grad work . Suddenly, in 1950, he received and accepted a call to enter training for ordained ministry. He graduated from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago in 1953 and began a ministry that would last 58 years for the Presbyterian Church of the U.S.A. During his long career he served on the National Staff, Synod (regional) Staffs and numerous parishes in Illinois, Pennsylvania and New York. Bob became a well-recognized author, preacher, pastoral counselor, keynote speaker, worship leader and consultant for the denomination and others. At one time, he was touted as the "Clown Prince of the Presbyterian Church"! In combination with his early entertainment background and broad ministry experience, Bob was also a life-long activist, integrating his passion for civil rights, peace and prison ministries, woman's rights and pro-choice legislation into the fabric of his life. His was a unique calling of service to God and others. His hobbies included reading political and theological commentaries, jazz, photography, mystery stories, theater and savoring the beauty of New Mexico, his final home since late 2000. Bob is survived by his wife of 32 years, the former Susan Perry Procopio. Other family members include Sharon (daughter), Randall (son), Lisa (stepdaughter) and Michael (stepson) three grandchildren and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell (son), and two grandchildren. Bob's Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13th, 2011 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 9315 Candelaria Rd., NE; Albuquerque, NM 87112. Members of St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 425 University Blvd., NE; Albuquerque, NM 87106 will also take an active role in the service. Both parishes were "church families" for Bob and his wife Susan. In lieu of flowers, donations to any of the following would be appreciated: Dismas House (Albuquerque), St. Martin's Hospitality Center (Albuquerque), or the Young Adults Volunteer (YAV) Program of the Presbyterian Church USA. FLYNN -- EILEEN Age 53, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2011. She was born on December 8, 1957 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Harold K. and Jeannette J. Baker. Eileen was preceded in death by Grandparents, Zeb and Bertha Baker, Russell and Ruth Johnson, and father, Harold Baker. She is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Bob; mother, Jeanette Baker; daughters, Amber Eberhart and husband, Ryan, and Sarah Gallegos and husband, Rey; granddaughter, Zooey Eberhart; sisters, Judy Bryson and her husband, Lynn, and Kathi Nieri and husband, Ron; step-daughters, Molly Shumate and husband Todd and Melissa Kerns and husband Zach; step-grandchildren, Cassidy and Kate Spalding, Madeline and Victoria Schumate; nephews, David Bryson and wife, Kathyrn, Travis Bryson, Nicolas Nieri and niece, Jessica Nieri, and two great-nieces and a nephew. Eileen loved animals very much. She also leaves behind a dog and two cats. Eileen loved the Lord Jesus with all her heart. She felt honored and privileged to serve the Lord as a Bible Study Fellowship children's leader and supervisor, a Sunday school teacher and most recently to lead a bible study with four of her precious friends and co-workers. Family was extremely important to Eileen, she loved them all dearly. She felt very blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom and doubly blessed that both of her daughters and their husbands live here in Albuquerque. It was also a blessing that she got to know and spend time with her first sweet granddaughter, Zooey. In her spare time, Eileen liked to work on crafts. Her favorites were cross-stitch and scrapbooking. Eileen worked at New Mexico Bank and Trust for the past 13 years and felt blessed to work for such a reputable organization. Eileen will be greatly missed. Services will be held at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, 4601 Juan Tabo NE, 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 with Pastor Reuben Thomas officiating. HARVEY -- VICTORIA (VICKIE) LYNNE Passed away July 31, 2011 after a prolonged illness. She was born in Virginia, Christmas Eve 1951 where her Father was stationed in the Army. After a few years in Utah her family came to New Mexico in 1959. She chose a career in the Customer Service industry, working with her Mother and friends at the Coronado Airport Cafe. She also spent 15+ years managing the cafeteria at Montgomery Ward and helping in many other departments before the store closed. Her hobbies and interests included league bowling, where she was League Secretary for many years. She was a Booster Club member and fan of the Albuquerque hockey teams and enjoyed going to the balloon fiestas and following the Olympics with her Mother. Her Father and brothers participation in local auto racing started her love of NASCAR racing and she became the ultimate Petty family fan. The strong support of her Dallas Cowboys was the ultimate in being a fan. She spent the last year at Canyon Transitional Rehabilitation Center where as the Resident Counsel President, Activities Volunteer and New Resident Greeter, she shared her crafts, interests and heartfelt support with the other residents. She was preceded in death by her Mother and Father in 2010. She is survived by her brothers, Alan, Blaine (Evalyn), Russell (Bari); her two nephews, Bradley & Zachary; many other family members and friends. A Tribute Service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel at Sunset Memorial Park. A Graveside Military tribute to her Father will follow where she and he will be interned with her Mother.

KEARNS -- MARGARET ELIZABETH Was born July 7, 1918 in Wagon Mound, NM to Charles R and Mae Bradley Keyes and went to be with the Lord at age 93 on Monday, August 8, 2011 in Albuquerque. Margaret was a graduate of Wagon Mound High School and the New Mexico Normal College, now New Mexico Highlands University. She married Glenn E Kearns February 1, 1941 and they had five sons. Mr. and Mrs. Kearns worked side by side in the family dry cleaning business, Kearns Kleaners until closing in 1972. She was an active supporter of her sons, activities, from sports to music. Margaret was a member of the United Methodist Church in Las Vegas and Albuquerque, the Order of the Eastern Star and the New Mexico Women's Bowling Association. She also enjoyed playing bridge with friends and loved to travel when she had the opportunity, she kept a suitcase packed just in case anybody suggested a trip. Mrs. Kearns moved to Rio Rancho in 2001. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bradley H Keyes; her husband, Glenn. Surviving her are her sons, Glenn Jr and wife Ruth, Charles and wife Lynda, Nat and wife Rhonda, Russell and wife Eleanor and Tom and wife Kathy; 12 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. KIRK -- BARBARA D. Born September 18, 1946 in Roswell, NM and lived in Rio Rancho for the last 28 years. She died August 4, 2011 of lung cancer. Barbara is survived by her husband of 41 years, Bill, of the home; son Robert of Justin, Texas; daughter Amy R. Skiver, currently residing in Germany; two grandchildren, Jacob and Jenna Kirk; two sisters, Jean Brooks of Roswell, NM, and Louise Gappa, of Council Bluffs, Iowa. Barbara's interests always ran toward the arts and crafts. Her latest interests were in water coloring. Barbara always took an active interest and part in church activities until her health forced her to take a less active role. MARTINEZ -- CARMEN Age 66, died August 6, 2011, with her family by her side in Albuquerque, NM. The daughter of Emilio Martinez and Clorinda Chavez, she was born in El Carmel, NM, on July 1, 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Emma Garcia and Mary Garcia. Carmen is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Raymond; son, Brian; daughter, Vicki (Brit); grandson, Dylan; two brothers; Jose Martinez of El Carmel and Adan Martinez and wife Donna of Salida, Co; three sisters, Antonia Martinez and husband Demostenes of El Carmel, Irene Garcia and husband Savino of El Carmel, and Angie Martinez of Kansas City. Carmen moved to California after graduation where she met Raymond. They were married on October 18, 1969. In 1985, they moved to New Mexico with their two children to be closer to family members. Carmen enjoyed shopping with her daughter and grandson, going to the movies with family and friends, and traveling the world with her husband. Other interests included dancing and watching sports. We will always remember Carmen for her beautiful smile, generosity, and her love for her family. Carmen will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cremation has taken place. A Rosary will take place at 10:00 a.m. and Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2011, at St. Gertrude's Church in Mora, NM. The Burial will follow the Mass at El Carmel Cemetery.

MATTHIES -- GLADYCE MARIE Has taken her final journey to be with her Lord, resting safe now and at peace. Born on a farm in Deerfield Township, Steele County, Minnesota on March 22, 1928, she passed August 2, 2011 at home in Albuquerque New Mexico in the loving care of her dear Rebecca after a long difficult battle with Alzheimers. Gladyce was a devoted homemaker, a lifelong active member of her church, a creative designer and seamstress, sewing her family's clothing and costumes for many years. She was an avid reader, loved music and dancing, flowers and gardening, and traveling by car with her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking and "happiness" was planning, organizing, and decorating for parties and gatherings of family and friends. She was involved with PTA, Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls and Sunday School, and was a representative of both Tupperware and AVON. Gladyce leaves behind her sister Bernice (Mrs. Richard Mostrom), her brother Roger Rishavy (Darlene), sister-in-law Mary Rishavy, nine nieces and nephews and all those greats. Her Children: Richard Jr. (Julene), Debra (Greg Wolfe), and Rebecca (Rick Romero) and Ex-Husband Richard. Grannie Marie loved all her Grandchildren: Stephanie (John), Nicole (Ryan), Joshua (Elizabeth), Brittany (Neil), Katharyn (Chris), Erik, Zachary, Jesse and Shannon. Great-Grandchildren: Ryan, Trystany, Tiernan, Ashlyn, Christian, Kylee, Salomon, Tyler, Addison, Xavier and Lukas. Gladyce was preceded in this journey by her parents Joseph and Mayme Rishavy, infant brother Richard and brother Clyde. She will be taken home to rest eternally with them in Steele County. Her "Sentimental Journey" complete. A memorial service was held on the evening of August 4th at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Albuquerque NM. God Bless and keep her. PAONE -- KAREN BABB Age 62, died peacefully on Monday, August 8, 2010, in Albuquerque, NM from complications of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Born in Lafayette, IN, Karen graduated from Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, and completed graduate study at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Thoroughly unimpressed with the financial potential of a life in music or theater, Karen elected to focus her energy on a career in business. While somewhat less entertaining, her career switch was quite successful. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico for 20 years and retired as Vice President of Planning and Administration. Karen then spent ten years heading her own successful consulting firm, Paone & Associates, LLC. Karen continued to perform in community theater throughout her life, most recently playing the role of Ouiser in Albuquerque Little Theater's 2011 production of Steel Magnolias. She also became quite active in dog training. Karen's German Shepherds - Mimi and Senex - trained her to pay unending training and show fees for dog obedience, rally, agility, and sheep herding. The dogs received numerous titles. Karen, however, did not. Karen was pre-deceased by her husband, Joe Paone, and father, Forrest Babb. She is survived by her mother, Ada Babb; brother, Skipp Babb; children, Beth Fuller and Nick Paone; granddaughter, Emma Fuller; dogs, Mimi and Senex; cat, Figaro; dozens of beloved friends and extended family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Karen at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011, at French Mortuary, located at 10500 Lomas Blvd NE in Albuquerque, NM. PULLIAM -- HAROLD L. Peacefully passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. He was 79. Born in Ocate, NM, Harold spent his career in the construction industry and built many of the roads throughout the state. A lifelong New Mexican, Harold was a long time resident of Bosque Farms. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ethel; his daughters, Denise Sandy and Dana Gharda (Laurent); his sons, Ronnie (Jeanne) and Randy (Dana); his grandchildren, Bob Sandy (Rhonda), Mark Sandy, Alexandra Pulliam, Desiree Clugston, Kirk Gharda, Corrine Gharda and Scott Gharda; and his great-grandchildren, Hunter, Jackie, Josh, Zach and Sierra. Harold is also survived by his brother, Leroy Pulliam (Marilyn) in addition to many nieces, nephews and friends. Never meeting a stranger, Harold will be remembered as a warm and loving man who would lend a hand to anyone in need. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. ROMERO -- JUANITA V. Age 97, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2011. She was a resident of Albuquerque for the past fifty two years and formally from Raton, New Mexico. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Cornell Romero and daughter, Dodi Gehring. WHEELER -- GERALDINE H. Age 87, long time resident of Albuquerque, Beloved wife of Carroll F. Wheeler for 67 years passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. She is survived by her husband; children, David F. Wheeler and wife, Janie, Patricia A. Jones, and Stephen C. Wheeler and wife, Tamara; daughter-in-law, Deronda Wheeler; grandchildren, Laura Peak, Tiffany Hale and husband, John, Julie Wagner, Damon Jones and wife, Erica, Richard Wheeler and wife, Autumn, Corrine Ferlin and husband, Stephen, Luke Wheeler and wife, Melanie, and Morgan Wheeler; brother, John A. Cox and wife Geri; sisters, Gladys Dunlap, Eleanor Poole, and Glenda Dalrymple and husband, Ronald; sister-in-law, Marion Cox; cousin, Lee Means and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Geraldine was preceded in death by her son, John F. Wheeler; brothers, Harold Cox and Frank Cox; and sister, Vivian Cox. As per her wishes cremation will take place and a private memorial service will be held. WHITE -- JOHN ANDREW (DREW) Died July 21, 2011. He served in the Army from 7/19/1966 to 3/9/1969. Most of his service time was spent in Viet Nam where he was crew chief on helicopters. He served with the 192ND Assault Helicopter Company. He named one of his choppers "The Good Ship Lollipop". He is survived by his son Peter White; his brother Gene White; sister Jackie Gorton; several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle NE, Albuquerque, NM August 16 at 3:30 p.m. Interment services will be in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe August 17 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Veteran group of your choice.
