ABEYTA -- Rev. Eppie Abeyta born in Leadville, Colorado on March 24, 1924 to Teofilo and Maria Abeyta went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lydia Abeyta; brother Wences Abeyta; and sister Severa DeAguerro. Survived by his children: James Abeyta and wife Belia, David Abeyta and wife Tina, JoAnn Rios and husband Manny, Dorothy Padilla and husband Jose', Liz Gutierrez and husband John, Neomi Guerrero and husband Martin; and his grandchildren James Abeyta, Jr. and Denise Morang; Vanessa Buffington and Jessica Sanchez, Mario Abeyta, Marcos Abeyta, and Joy Varela, Carlos Gutierrez, Tomas Gutierrez, and Natalie Gutierrez; Candace McKillip and Elias Guerrero; nine great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces, friends and relatives, and fellow clergy. He was preceded in death by brother Tony Abeyta, sister Sally Abeyta, and granddaughter Elaine Lovato. Rev. Abeyta was a retired ordained minister and member of the Central Latin American District Council of the Assemblies of God Fellowship and resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He and his loving wife pastored many churches throughout New Mexico for over 30 years. He was considered the pillar and patriarch of the family and will be sorely missed by his family and numerous friends and relatives. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services that will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. and Friday, May 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Harvest Fellowship Church at 5331 Montano NW. BACA -- Ernesto Baca, 60, a resident of Albuquerque, NM went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2010. He will be missed. He is survived by his parents, Bences and Nestorita Baca; sisters, Mercy Carrillo and husband, Santos, Viola Carrillo and husband, Frank and Sandra Baca; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family. BARRETT -- Brandon Aaron Barrett, 27, died on Wednesday, May 5th 2010, serving his country in Afghanistan. He has recently been posthumously promoted from the rank of first lieutenant to captain by the United States Marine Corps. Barrett was born January 21st, 1983 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He spent his childhood befriending everyone he met, playing sports, and dreaming of becoming a soldier for the United States military. Brandon graduated from Marion High School in 2001, and he was proudly accepted into the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. He graduated in 2006, joined the Marine Corps, and was promoted to the rank of first lieutenant on May 26, 2008. Barrett was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from March to October 2008 and again in December 2009. Barrett's awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal and NATO International Security Assistance Force Medal. Brandon "Bull" Barrett was an outstanding athlete, an avid outdoorsman and a natural leader. He confronted every task with enthusiasm and accepted each responsibility with dignity. His passionate commitment to the Marine Corps and to his troops was insurmountable. Those who knew him will remember his loyalty and his dedication to friendship most of all. His eyes held no prejudice, and he greeted everyone with a smile. Brandon kept the city of Marion, Indiana closest to his heart, returning home on nearly every leave. To its citizens and to the countless numbers of lives that he touched, Brandon Barrett will forever be remembered as a hero. He is survived by his mother, Cindy Barrett; his father, Brett Barrett; his sisters, Ashley and Taylor Barrett; his brother, Brock Barrett; and his grandmother, Carmen Johnson. Additional survivors include several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held on Friday May 14th, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Marion High School Bill Green Athletic Arena, 750 W. 26th Street, Marion, IN 46953. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 15th, 2010, also at the MHS Bill Green Athletic Arena. The burial service will follow at Gardens of Memory, 11201 S. Marion Rd. 35 Marion, IN 46952. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made for those wishing to contribute to a memorial and scholarship fund in Brandon's name. BLAND -- Alberta Lee Bland was born September 2, 1937 to Bert Austin and Opal A (Pettit) Bland at home in Beaver City, Nebraska. She weighed ten pounds that day and as the years passed she never grew over 5' 1" but she had a huge heart. Alberta had one older brother, Austin and younger, Monty. They both treasured and teased her which contributed to her joyous personality. When Alberta was 12 years old she had open heart surgery, the first successful open heart surgery in a child in the state of Nebraska. That heart continued to beat strong until May 8, 2010 when she left this world for a better life. Alberta graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Medical Technology. She retired from Presbyterian Hospital and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She loved cooking, gardening, wood working, singing with "Young at Heart" and her two dogs "Charlie" and "Sophie". Alberta is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Austin; nephew, Justin William; and grand niece, Ruth Isabelle. Survivors include her partner of 44 years, Louann Daniel; her brother, Monty and his wife, Cheryl; nephews, Robert and Spencer Bland and their wives and children; nieces, Renae, Babette, Caramia, and Stephanie and their husbands and children. Services will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at French-Westside Location, 9300 Golf Course Rd, NW Albuquerque, New Mexico. CARMONA -- MAX JR., Max Carmona Jr, 68, loving husband, father, went home to be with our Lord on Monday May 10, 2010 due to an illness. Among his favorite past times he enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, he enjoyed working in his garden and loved taking care of his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, of 50 years, Carmen; his sons Micheal Carmona, Dominic and wife Renie Carmona and Leroy Carmona and wife Carolyn, Joseph Carmona and wife Dalaina; daughter Victoria Perez and husband Miguel Jr., daughters, Anna Carmona, Stephanie Carmona and David Hansen; ten grandchildren, Joseph Jr., Derek, Antonio, Justin, Ashley, Anastasia, Gabriel, Davian, Natalie and Vanessa and all of Albuquerque, NM.; brothers, Clemente Carmona of Albuquerque, Rudy Carmona, Joe Carmona and wife Liz, both of Las Vegas, NV. DALBY -- Walter J. Dalby, went to meet with our Lord on Saturday, May 8, 2010, after a long illness. Walter was born in Temple, TX, July 22, 1926 to Walter and Florence Dalby. He graduated from Albuquerque High School May 21, 1943. Walter served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. He married Alta Arlene Premer on June 3, 1949. She passed away October 30, 1970. Walter received his B.S.M.E. degree from the UNM, July 5, 1950 and worked at Sandia National Laboratories as a Mechanical Design Engineer, 1950 to 1956 and 1958 to 2001. He worked at Phillips Petroleum in Idaho Falls, ID, from 1956 to 1958. Walter married Bernice J. Casey on May 16, 1987. He is survived by his wife, Bernice; brother, William Joseph Head and wife, Mary; son, John F. Dalby of Flagstaff, AZ; daughter, Karyn A. Reid and husband, Gary of Rico, CO; son, Michael W. Dalby and wife, Vicky of Albuquerque; one granddaughter; several stepchildren; step-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. The family will be forever grateful for the professional, tender, and loving care he received from the doctors, nurses, and other professionals at UNM Hospital. A rosary will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010, 6:00 p.m., at French, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Friday, May 14, 2010, 8:30 a.m., at Our Lady of Annunciation Church, 2532 Vermont St. NE.
