ARNOLD -- Vera Lee Arnold, 83, born June 5, 1926 in Capitan, NM, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, June 22, 2009 after a long illness. She was a resident of Canon City, CO since July of 1983, and former resident of Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband, Alvord J. Arnold; son, Ron E. Arnold and his wife, Debby, of Montrose, CO; daughter, Wanda C. McGuire and husband, Patrick, of Rio Rancho; seven grandchildren, Clinton Arnold and wife, Mary, Trisha Arnold, Pamela McGuire, Brian McGuire and wife, Shelly, Shannon McGuire and wife, Jo Ellen, and Chris and Justin Arnold; and 12 great-grandchildren. Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Hartzel Hale and Mamie Margaret Russell; three sisters, Velma Coleman, Eva Mae Coleman, and Ruth Means; and her eldest son, Allen J. Arnold. She met her husband at a football game in Capitan, NM in September of 1941. After a short courtship, they were married January 17, 1942. They have remained together for 67 years. Some of her loves and hobbies were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, camping, fishing, her flower gardens, and traveling. Her first love was our Lord Jesus Christ whom she knew as her personal savior. Services will be held Sunday, June 28, 2009, 2:00 p.m., at Tower Road Baptist Church, 601 86th St. SW, with Brother Gerald Wood officiating. BROOME -- Kevin G. Broome, 60, passed away peacefully at his brother's home on Thursday, June 25, 2009, after a lengthy illness. Kevin was born on November 6, 1948, in Buffalo, NY. He graduated from Bryant and Stratton Business in Buffalo. Kevin served in the United States Air Force Reserves before relocating to Albuquerque in 1986. He was employed with the Albuquerque Public Schools as a clerical/technical employee for 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Mullineux Broome of Albuquerque; two brothers, James Broome and wife, Jamie, of Louisville, KY and Paul Broome and wife, Mique, of Albuquerque, NM. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gertrude Broome. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity toward everyone in his life and his devotion to his family. The family gratefully acknowledges the kindness of Vista Hospice, especially nurse Chantell Sheppard, the APS Health and Wellness employees, and his many family and friends who supported Kevin during his illness. CAMPBELL -- Joseph Nolen Campbell. On June 15, 2009 "Grandpa Joe" stepped out of this life and into his eternal life in Heaven. He was born January 4, 1919 in Marietta, OK. Joe was 90 years young. He was an Army Air Corp WWII veteran and Bataan March survivor. He was preceded in death by his wife Mariana Averill Campbell; parents, John Thomas and Viola Frances (Nolen) Campbell; brother, Alvin Campbell, Sr; sister, Lottie Mae Naomi Campbell; and by his grandson Joseph Seneca Campbell. He is survived by his daughter Clyda Sciumbato (Nick) and son Lee M. Campbell. He has two surviving grandchildren; Averill Sciumbato and William Campbell (Elizabeth). He is also survived by his nephew Alvin Campbell, Jr (Gretchen) and his niece Rosemary Weinstein (Ira). He has one great-niece, April Fechter (Jimmy) and four great-nephews; Tony (Linda), David, James (Sherri), and John. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Joe's family wishes to extend their appreciation to the VA Hospital, clinics, and staff and to the Presbyterian "Lung Gym" for providing such great care, which contributed to their father's longevity and good quality of life. FINNEFROCK -- Claire Devin Maxwell Finnefrock, born in Pittsburgh, PA, August 8, 1910, was the ninth of ten children born to Luis and Lucia Devin. She grew up and graduated high school in Pittsburgh. She married George Maxwell in 1942, then the war called, and Claire joined the Coast Guard, while George enlisted in the Army. After the war, a daughter; Penelope Rose was born, and they moved to a Farm in PA. In 1959, health reasons brought them to Lake Park, FL. Claire was an Executive Secretary and was very involved with community service and the Arts. George passed in 1964 and eight years later she married Paul Finnefrock. He passed away in 1985. Her last years were spent in NM, where she got to see her great-granddaughter, Devina, grow up. Claire is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Robert Estrada; four grandchildren, Paolo, Cody, Minika and Nakya, and great-granddaughter Devina, her namesake, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the special people at he V.A. Hospital, their care was the best, all the staff at Los Volcanoes S.YC., are to be commended for Claire's many hours of happiness. She was well loved and will be missed, but we go on knowing that we all gotta go and some of us go first to break trail and set up camp. A Celebration of her Life will be held at the home of Robert and Rose Estrada here in Abq., after interment in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Please call the home for details. GRIEGO -- Odelia "Lila" Griego, 79, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went home to Heaven on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Her family and friends were the most important things in her life. She was dedicated to her children, husband and family, always caring and giving. She always saw the best in all, was generous and accepted everyone into her family. Her faith and prayers were an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She was loved and appreciated by all of her family and friends, her love for all of us will be truly missed. Lila is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, George T. Griego; her sons George E. Griego and his wife Alicia, Ruben Griego, Leroy Griego and his wife Maria, and Randy Griego; grandchildren Brenda, Missy, Lacie, Bianca, Patrick, Bobbie, Natalie, Nancy, Leroy, Randy and Candace; and nine great-grandchildren. KEEGAN -- Robert Emmett. Lt. Col. USAF (Ret) Robert Emmett Keegan, son of Emmett and Hazel Keegan, and named in the memory of the 17th century Irish nationalist rebel leader, reported for duty in heaven on June 22, 2009. Bob was born the eldest of three sons in Washington, Pennsylvania on December 1, 1921. He grew up in Washington, PA and attended Washington & Jefferson College. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and received his degree early in exchange for his service in the Army Air Corps in 1943. Trained as a navigator and bombardier, he flew 35 combat missions over Europe in the B-24 Liberator and became a highly decorated veteran of WW II. He received the Silver Star for gallantry in combat and the Purple Heart for wounds received during combat missions. Bob remained in the Air Force after the conclusion of World War II. He received his Masters Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University and he became a weapons specialist for the United States Air Force. One of the highlights of his military career occurred in the early 1960's, when Bob briefed President Kennedy regarding special weapons technology at New Mexico's Kirtland Air Force Base. Following his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Air Force, Bob worked for Litton Industries and later at GTE in product research and development. During this time, Bob and his wife Jess lived in California, Maryland, and Massachusetts. When Bob retired for the second time in the early 1990's, he and his wife moved to Corrales, New Mexico where they were involved in military organizations and historical preservation. Bob was an original member of the New Mexico Honor Guard, which rendered military honors for deceased veterans. He was also a member of the American Legion post #118, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Sandoval County Historical Society, and many other military and service organizations. Bob was known by many residents of Corrales as the "tax-man", as he helped numerous individuals with their income tax preparation free of charge. Tax preparation was just one of many examples of Bob's kind and generous spirit. Bob was an exemplary father and grandfather, and enriched the lives of all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jess Keegan of Corrales, New Mexico; son Robert E. Keegan II of Houston, Texas; nephew Peter Keegan of Albuquerque, New Mexico, stepsons, Sam W. Bowman III of St. Charles, Missouri, James E. Bowman of Frederick, Maryland, and Stephen K. Bowman of Corrales, New Mexico; and his six grandchildren. Bob Keegan excelled in service to his country and never ceased to add an ingredient of humor to any situation. He was dedicated to his family, and by his very nature consistently helpful to others. He will be deeply missed by friends and family alike, and his memory perpetually cherished by all who knew and loved Bob Keegan. LEPP -- Bette Ann Lepp, known affectionately to her family as "Nana" passed away peacefully at home on June 23, 2009. She is survived by her daughters Bobbi, with spouse Ben Carrillo, and Kathleen, with fiance Glen Flanders; her grandchildren Rob, Jennifer, with fiance Sergio, Kelsey, and Katie; her brother-in-law Richard, with spouse Aurora; her sister-in-law Margaret; her niece Nancy; her nephew David; her grandnephews David and John, and her grandniece Lisa. She was born June 13, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska to parents John H. and Susan H. Miller. When she was still a young girl, her family moved to Iowa, then Boulder, Colorado and finally settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she met and fell in love with her husband of 54 years, Robert E. Lepp, while on a blind date. They were attending Albuquerque High School, at the time, and enjoyed keeping close friendships with their classmates through monthly reunions. Bette was an avid painter, a wonderful cook, a gardener, and a dedicated, generous and patient caretaker to family, friends and neighbors, throughout her life. She was a teaching assistant at Eubank Elementary and a volunteer at Hawthorne Elementary. She loved her students and the time she spent as a mentor. She was fond of traveling and spent much of her later years on trips with family and friends. She was an active member of La Mesa Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. Bette loved her family deeply, and was cherished as its keystone. She will be greatly missed by all who had the fortune to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband. MITCHELL -- Thomas Jerome "Jerry" Mitchell, a native of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009 after a long and successful life. He is survived by his daughter, Jerre Dee Fitzpatrick and her husband, John of Albuquerque; his son, Ron Mitchell and his wife, Sheri of Casper, WY; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Chandra, Vanessa, Tom, Jacob, Evan, Michael, Chelsea, Jenna and TJ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Bartlett Mitchell on June 23, 2004, their anniversary; and his first wife, Mary Jane Wood Mitchell. Jerry was born on December 23, 1916 to Grace and Dr. Lynn B. Mitchell, who was a Dean at UNM. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1934, was a graduate of the University of Michigan and a professional engineer. Jerry proudly served as a Lt. Colonel in the USMC during WWII in the Pacific. He worked in China and India for Standard Oil after the war until returning to Albuquerque in 1959. His career with the BIA took him to Shiprock and Gallup. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Dorothy moved to Cochiti Lake where they enjoyed many wonderful years with great friends. Jerry enjoyed fishing and the Albuquerque Little Theater. His kindness and gentle manner will be greatly missed by his family. RIVERA -- Rudy Eugene Rivera, 53, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on June 22, 2009. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Rudy is survived by his mother Bobbie Rivera; daughter Addison Rivera-Dominguez and husband Jeremy; Addison's mother Gigi Blanchard; granddaughter Arianna Dominguez; sister Elaine Breen and husband Larry; beloved uncles Marty Valdez and Arthur Valdez and wife Betti; his dear uncles and aunts Celine, Martha, and Viola of Santa Fe; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Rudy's joys included being a fifth-degree Black Belt in karate, fishing and enjoying the outdoors, coordinating tours of Costa Rica, and spending time with loved ones, especially his granddaughter. He will be remembered for his loyal heart, joyful spirit, and the laughter he shared. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Queen of Heaven Parish, 5311 Phoenix Ave NE 87110. SANCHEZ -- Richard age 12, Daniel age 9, and Christopher age 2, Sanchez, went to be with their Lord on August 11, 2001. They are survived by their mother, Susana Escamilla and fiance Michael Aguilar; sister, Jordin Aguilar; grandmother, Ramona Leo; great-grandmother, Carmen Anchondo; uncle, George Escamilla; aunts, Maria Escamilla and Mayra Escamilla; cousins, Amber, Randy, Yasmeen, and Anthony; and numerous other relatives and friends. Richard was born on June 4, 1989, Daniel on September 6, 1992, and Christopher on March 8, 1999, all in Albuquerque. At the time of their deaths Richard was going into the 7th grade at Jimmy Carter Middle School, Daniel was going into the 3rd Grade at Carlos Rey Elementary School, and Christopher was enjoying spending his time with his mother. Richard and Daniel loved sports, playing soccer, and basketball. They also enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Christopher loved to dance, entertaining those around him. All three boys were full of life, very respectful, and the kind of boys anyone would want, loving their family and friends. They were loving sons, brothers, grandsons, nephews, cousins and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew them. TOMICH -- Mary M. (nee Butkovich) Tomich, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 23, 2009, just three days short of her 96th birthday. Mrs. Tomich was born in 1913 in Centerville, IA. As a young girl, she moved to Albuquerque with her parents, Valentin and Frances Butkovich, and her two sisters and brother. She attended and graduated from St. Mary School here in the city. For many years she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, but for more than 30 years, she has been a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Except for a few years living in Gallup and Santa Fe, she has been in Albuquerque for most of her life. Mary is a retired federal employee of the U.S. Corps of Engineers and the Internal Revenue Service. She also worked for the old Albuquerque Dukes baseball team office during season. Mary was very proud of her many years as a volunteer at St. Joseph's hospital in eye surgery hospitality. She is survived by her son, Dr. Charles E. Tomich of Carmel, IN and wife, Jacquelyn; two grandchildren, Steven C. Tomich, and wife, Julie, and Kristin T. Mart and husband, Brad; five great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. VALDREAU -- Millicent Valdreau of La Luz, New Mexico, ended her journey on earth in the early morning of June 24, 2009. She was born July 22, 1922 in Iowa to Laurel and Charles Norris. Millicent is survived by her son, Phillip Valdreau of La Luz, NM; stepson, Scott Snowdy; nieces, Cherie Quintero of Albuquerque, NM, Anita Taylor of Manhattan, KS; nephew Kenneth Breese of Manhattan, KS; and many grand nieces and nephews. Millicent had a Christian belief; her profession was an elementary school teacher, and her hobbies included traveling, gardening, taking daily walks, viewing art, enjoying the infinite wonders of nature, writing personal letters to family, and caring her cats, dogs, and chickens. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. An Interment will be held at the South Park Cemetery in Roswell, NM.
