AHRENS -- Betty Anita Ahrens, 77, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2008. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda; her father, Clarence; her mother, Alma; and her sister, Gloria. She is survived by her loving husband, Ervin; sons, Bruce and wife, Diana; Todd and wife, Valerie; Brian, Troy, and Wes; son-in-law, Pat; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, January 24, 2008 at French Mortuary on 10500 Lomas Blvd, NE at 2:00 p.m.

ALTAMIRANO -- Ramona Altamirano, 90, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend passed away Monday. She was born May 22, 1917 in Hatch, NM. Ramona loved music, dancing, cooking and loved her family. She is survived by her six children, Joe Altamirano of Albuquerque, Mary Legarreta and husband, Ventura of Albuquerque, Dorothy Serna and husband, Ruben of Las Cruces,Stella Serna and husband, Richard of Las Cruces, Jesus Altamirano, of Albuquerque and Nancy Gutierrez and husband, Jimmy of Albuquerque, one sister, Carol Garcia of Albuquerque. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 57 grand-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters, and one daughter, Rose (Chalia ) Silva. Visitation will be Thursday from 2- 4 p.m. at the Daniels Family Funeral Services Garcia Mortuary Chapel. The Rosary will be recited Thursday 7:00 p.m. also in the Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary cemetery. Casket bearers will be Richard Serna, Ruben Serna, Jimmy Gutierrez, Juan Silva, Joel Legaretta and Arthur Silva. BOSWELL -- James Perdue Boswell, 83, a resident of Corrales, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2008. He was born on October 24, 1924, in Helene, GA to James and Ada Boswell. 1st Lt. Boswell was a proud veteran, having served his country in both the Navy and as a pilot in the Air Force. Jim began his career as an air traffic controller with the CAA which later became the FAA; he retired from the FAA in 1978. He attended both the University of South Carolina and University of Georgia. He was a Methodist and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Jim is survived by his wife of 39 1/2 years, Nancy Bresenham Boswell; his three children, James H. Boswell of Chicago, Susan M. Boswell of Albuquerque and Melissa A. Zimmerman of Tulsa; two grandchildren, Aaron and Ashleigh; nieces, Nancy Ann and Barbara; nephew, Duke; brothers-in-law, Jack (Nancy) Bresenham and Dick (Kylene) Bresenham. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sammie; his brother, John; and sister, Rachel. Interment will be Thursday, January 24, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. CAMPBELL -- Geraldine Poe Campbell, 95, slipped into the arms of the Lord January 19, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce in 1996, and her brother, J. C. Poe. Geraldine is survived by her brother, Bob Poe, several other family members and dear friends, including Pat Bradshaw, Jean Tuttle, and Keith and Susan Weathersby. Geraldine taught 10 years in Texas after graduation from Howard-Payne University with a Bachelor's Degree, and Hardin-Simmons University with a Master's Degree. She and Bruce moved to Albuquerque in 1946 where she taught at Jefferson Junior High and Valley High School over a period of 30 years with APS. Mrs. Campbell was an active member of First Baptist Church, the Albuquerque Retired Teachers association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Daughters of the Nile, Adah Chapter of Eastern Star, and the Albuquerque Old Glass Club. Services will be on Thursday, January 24, 2008, 11:00 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 101 Broadway NE, with Rev. Michael M. Cook officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. DESAULNIERS -- Lawrence B. DeSaulniers, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1955, died Sunday, January 20, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Norma DeSaulniers of Godfrey, IL, Steve DeSaulniers and wife, Veronica Medina of Albuquerque, Karen Dominguez and partner, Buz Tyler of Albuquerque, Yvonne DeSaulniers of Bellingham, WA, Janet DeSaulniers of Salem, OR, Ginnie DeSaulniers of Santa Fe, NM, and Karl DeSaulniers of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Anna DeSaulniers of Albuquerque, Brittany and Stephen Goldsmith of Bellingham, WA, Isaiah Yarborough and wife, Stephanie of Clarkston, WA; great-grandchildren, Riley and Kaiden Yarborough; siblings Peter DeSaulniers of Somers, CT and Janet Knoblock, Redlands, CA; sister-in-law, Ginnie McCarthy of Madison, WI. Mr. DeSaulniers was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Yarborough; parents, Clement and Norma DeSaulniers; and sister, Ann Gould. He proudly served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Missouri from its commissioning until the end of the war. He was employed at Sandia Corporation from 1955 to 1963. In 1986, after 22 years, he retired as Professor Emeritus from the University of Albuquerque. Mr. DeSaulniers was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Assumption Parish serving as Lector and Eucharistic Minister and served on the school boards at Our Lady of Assumption and St. Pius X schools. He volunteered at KNME for 5 years and was honored with the Elizabeth Campbell Outstanding Public Broadcasting Volunteer Award from the National Friends of Public Broadcasting. Rosary will be recited Thursday, January 24, 2008, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas and Tennessee NE. Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 25, 2008, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of The Assumption Catholic Church, Lomas and Tennessee NE, with Father Edward Domme officiating. FRITZ -- Margaret (Peggy) May Fritz 88, passed away on January 21, 2008. She was born June 10, 1919, in Independence, Kansas to Forest and Dollie (Davidson) Mallonee. Peggy spent most of her life in Hammond, IN, and Chicago, IL, but relocated to Albuquerque, NM, in 1992 to be near her daughter and family. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul John Fritz, and her sisters, Leona Patton and Twyla Christian. Peggy was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved and cherished her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Theresa (Terri) and Dr. Charles (Chuck) Pribyl of Albuquerque, NM; son Anthony (Tony) Fritz of Indian Mound, TN; grandchildren Margaret (Megan) and Ashley Pribyl of Albuquerque, NM; Paul Fritz and his wife Amy of Thornton, IL; Sara Fritz and her husband Rich East of Hammond,IN; great grandchildren Jay Fritz of Thornton, IL and Conor, Bella, and Anthony (Tony) East of Hammond, IN; and many dear friends, her most closest being Sally Moya, Verda Lucero, Punkin Hastie, Robin Meize-Grochowski, and Cynthia Weiss, all of Albuquerque,NM. Peggy was one of the first women factory workers when World War II began. She then joined the United States Marines and became one of the first women soldiers where she worked as an airplane mechanic during World War II. She was employed in a variety of positions after the war, most notably as a floor clerk in the Palmer House Hotel in Chicago. She did not slow down during retirement, serving as a "pink lady" volunteer in the hospital. She was in her 70s when she went to Puerto Rico with the Red Cross after Hurricane Hugo. "Mom and Grandma, we were blessed having you in our lives and we will miss you. We take comfort in knowing your suffering has ended and that you are resting in the arms of our dear Lord". The family would like to thank Peggy's nurses, doctors, and other health care providers for their kindness and care. They are especially grateful to the caregivers and staff at Grand Court Albuquerque, Dr. Edward Brown and his nurse Irene Reily, Presbyterian Hospice, and hospice nurse Barbara Burchard. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Presbyterian Hospice, c/o Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation, P.O. Box 26666, Albuquerque, NM 87125, attn. ZIZIFritz Hopsice. GARCIA -- Mariano Garcia, Jr., age 80, a life long resident of Albuquerque passed away suddenly, Saturday, January 19, 2008. He was born to Mariano and Melinda Garcia. Mariano served his country in both the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. He was a parishioner of San Ignacio Parish and served as an Usher and on the Financial Committee. Mariano enjoyed watching Baseball and Bowling; his family was most important to him and he loved spending time with them. He will be fondly remembered as a kind, giving man who was always willing to help people out. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Luis Sena Jr. Mariano is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Viola Garcia; his daughter, Ina Jean Sena and husband, Luis; two granddaughters, Krystyne Sena and Carla Scharet and husband, Jacob; one great-grandson and the twinkle in his eye, Joshua Scharet; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Mariano will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Visitations will be Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services-Alameda Mortuary. A rosary will be recited Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. at San Ignacio Church, 1300 Walter NE; followed by the Mass of Christian burial at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Luis Sena, Jake Scharet, Robert Silva, Patrick Silva, Louie Silva, and Ivan Silva.
