ARMIJO -- Fidel Miguel Armijo, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Clara M. Armijo; daughter, Flora Marie and husband, David Hendren; son, Martin G. Armijo and daughter, Ruth Armijo; grandsons, Eric Hendren and wife, Amanda, and Craig Hendren and wife, Amber; great-grandchildren, Jude, Lauren, and Andreas; brother, Celso Armijo; sisters, Lucia Armijo and Margaret Tanaka. Fidel is survived by many nephews and nieces. A heartfelt thanks to nephews, Sammy and Jerry Barreras and their families, for the constant visits and care they shared. Fidel was preceded in death by his parents, Ricardo "Benito" Armijo and Flora Abeyta Armijo; sisters, Andrea, Rosenda, and Catalina. Fidel served in the American, European-African-Middle Eastern and Asiatic-Pacific Theaters. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2008, 11:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery with Army Honors. ATKINSON -- Rosemary Joan Atkinson, age 84, died Wednesday December 10, 2008. She lived her final 41 years in Albuquerque. She was born in Eden Valley, Minnesota, April 14, 1924, daughter of Herman and Pauline Humbert. She lived and traveled extensively through the country as a nurse for The Santa Fe Railroad, plus Yosemite, and as a wife and mother residing on both coasts. Rosemary was also an artist, gardener, devoted Catholic, and a WWII veteran. Rosemary is survived by her husband, Lewis Francis (Bud) Atkinson Jr.; son, Donald Aldo Atkinson; daughter, Diane Marie DeLuca; and sister, Lucille Raeker. She is surrounded by 24 additional relatives and their families. Rosary will be recited Monday, December 15, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Wyoming Blvd Chapel with Deacon Kenn Sinatra reciting. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday December 16, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., at Church of the Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd NE, with the Pastor Monsg. Richard Olona, Celebrant. BAYNE -- William Bayne, February 10, 1929 - November 26, 2008. William "Bill" Bayne, a resident of Albuquerque for the last 34 years, went to "Meet his Maker" peacefully at home on November 26, 2008 after a long illness. His wife and daughter had been with him constantly for his last ten days. Bill was born on February 10, 1929 in Boston, MA. He was the son of the late William Bayne and Margaret Magill Bayne of Dedham, MA and Brookville, NY. He graduated from St. George's School in Newport, RI. and attended Yale University. In 1952 he married Martha "Pat" Gibb of Glen Head, NY. He and his wife moved to Charleston, SC where he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954. Following his service he worked for F.S. Moseley & Co. and Bankers Trust in New York. In 1961 he and his family moved to Denver, CO where he worked for Dictaphone and Standard & Poor's. In 1968 he opened his own investment advisory firm, Performance Associates - Registered Investment Counsel. In 1972 he met and married Elizabeth (Betsy) Shellabarger. In 1973 he sold Performance Associates to First Pennsylvania Bank and with his new bride moved to Albuquerque, NM. In Albuquerque Bill was a consultant to regional brokerage firm Quinn & Co. and was a Senior Trust Officer with Albuquerque National Bank. In 1978 Bill opened Asset Management-Consultant Service, Inc. and built a very successful Registered Investment Counsel firm. In 2001 he sold Asset Management to Reliance Trust Company of Atlanta, GA. He continued to work for the firm retiring December 2005. Bill loved sports with his favorite teams being the Boston Red Sox and the Denver Broncos. He loved his dogs - especially dachshunds - he had a passion for his business and his clients - he truly enjoyed traveling, both for business and for pleasure. He participated in civic activities (ACI & NFIB) and was involved in local political circles. He served as the Chairman of the Ushers Guild at the Cathedral Church of St. John for many years. Preceding him in death were his sisters Patricia Bayne Harvey and Carroll Bayne Spence of New York and his nephew, Nicholas Charles Harvey of Charleston, South Carolina. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth "Betsy" Shellabarger Bayne; his daughter Cynthia Pease Bayne of Chandler, AZ, his son William Bayne Jr. of Tucson, AZ; his sister Margaret Bayne Wall of Vero Beach, FL; and his first wife, Martha "Pat" Gibb Bayne of Denver, CO. He also leaves five nieces and nephews and nine grand-nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 10 a.m., at the Cathedral Church of St. John, 318 Silver SW, Albuquerque, NM. BLAKE -- Betty Jane. Beloved wife and mother, Betty Jane Blake, 86, former resident of Sierra Vista, AZ, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Society Manzano Del Sol Village in Albuquerque, NM. Betty was born on January 28, 1922, in Anamosa, IA to Sumner Sherman and Cora (Butterfield) Allen. Betty grew up on a farm in Iowa with her ten siblings. Later in her teen years, the family moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where Betty met her husband of 59 years, Bernard "Barney" M. Blake. Betty was a devoted and loving mother to her five children. She worked several jobs outside of the home to help provide for her children's needs. Betty was an active Church member for 22 years at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, in Sierra Vista, AZ. For the last eight years, Betty has resided in Albuquerque, NM, where she was lovingly cared for by her daughter Sheila and her husband, Rusty Reed. Those surviving Betty are her five children, David B. (Tish) Blake of Meredith, N.H., Susan M. (Gary) Bolstad of San Diego, CA., Cecilia (John) Barron of Huachuca City, Sheila (Rusty) Reed of Albuquerque, NM, and Patricia M. Blake of San Diego, CA.; also surviving are eight grandchildren, Nathan, Justin, Larry, Roxanne, Renee, Roy, Becca and Bryant; eight great-grandchildren; and her sister's, Norma Mitchell, Bea Dudek, Arlene Reed, Gerry Thomas and Shirley Bransford. BUCK -- Lura Marshall Buck, age 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965, died Thursday December 11, 2008. She is survived by her daughter Elaine of Los Alamos; son Steven of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Michael Bell and wife Lisa, Andrea Perrie and husband Alex, and Karl Buck and wife Natalie, all of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Lily Buck, Roberto, Indio, and Elena Perez; and 17 nieces and nephews. Mrs. Buck was preceded in death by husband, Major C.W. Buck in January 1997; as well as five siblings. Mrs. Buck was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Funeral Services will be held Monday December 15, 2008, at 12:00 noon, at French Mortuary Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. BURKS -- William F. "Bill" Burks, retired financial executive, Marine and long-time Democratic Party activist, died unexpectedly Wednesday, December 10, 2008, of natural causes. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susanne Burks; son, Dr. Randy Burks; daughter, Julie Forbes; five grandchildren; an uncle; two nephews; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Ethyl Burks; and brother, Robert. Bill was born June 13, 1930, in Southwest Missouri and graduated from the University of Missouri in 1952. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and later was in an Albuquerque reserve unit, retiring as a Colonel. Bill moved with his family to Albuquerque in 1964 and served as president of the Home Savings and Loan Association and later the American Federal Savings and Loan Association. He served on the Federal Home Loan Bank Board of Little Rock for several years in various capacities. He also was named to a new special council of the U.S. League of Savings Association and in 1972 served as president of the New Mexico league. A long time member of the First Presbyterian Church, Bill was an elder and also served on the church's Endowment Foundation. He had been active in the Albuquerque Press Club, was a devoted Lobo sports fan and served on the board of the NM State Fair. Cremation has taken place, and a Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, December 15, 2008, 1:30 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE (I-25 at Martin Luther King), with the Rev. GONZALES -- Gilbert A. Gonzales "Gilly", 86, a lifelong resident of Pecos and Albuquerque, went to be among the angels on Tuesday, December 9, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ester; children, Eva Lujan of Albuquerque, Captain Anthony J. Gonzales (USN Retired) and wife, Julie of San Diego, CA, and Angeline Maldonado and husband, Kenneth of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Lisa Guevara, Luke Smith, Loyd Smith and wife, Terri , Markus Lujan, Michael Gonzales, AJ Gonzales, Adriana Maldonado, and Mia Maldonado; great-grandchild, Tessa Hernandez; sister, Mary Darr of Mission Viejo, CA; and numerous extended family and friends including Joyce Armijo, Annabell Silva, Juanita Martinez, Tanya Hernandez, Julie Duran, Pat, Tanya, Mark, and Matthew Maldonado, Theresa Giron-Garcia and John Ullom. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laura E. Smith of Albuquerque; grandson, Jonathan Gonzales; and sister, Sally King of Santa Fe. Born in Pecos to Jose and Guadalupe Gonzales on June 11, 1922, Gilbert was raised in Pecos and Rowe Mesa. In 1940, he joined the CCC in Santa Fe and was stationed at Conchas Dam and then worked in Colorado and Arizona performing defense work. He joined the Navy in 1942 and proudly served during World War II with the Naval Armed Guard located in the South Pacific, Caribbean, North Atlantic, and Mediterranean Seas. After World War II, he married Ester Mondragon of Denver, CO, and worked in Albuquerque as a plumbing and paint contractor. He then joined Civil Services with Sandia Base Engineers only to return back to the Navy to bravely serve in the Korean War while on the USS Los Angeles. Once his service was completed, he returned to Albuquerque to work again with Sandia Base Engineers and paint contracting. He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing his guitar, and was an active member of the VFW Chapter 401 and DAV. In 1975, he retired to Pecos to enjoy his wife, ranch, and animals. He returned to Albuquerque in 2005 to spend his last years surrounded by his family. Gilbert was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandpa. He never met a stranger and had many friends. He was loved and will be greatly missed. The Rosary will be recited Sunday, December 14, 2008, 7:00 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco Dr SW. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, December 15, 2008, 9:00 a.m., also at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Father Gino Correa, Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., in Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers will be Luke Smith, Markus Lujan, Michael Gonzales, AJ Gonzales, John Ullom, and Eddie King. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marcell Garcia, Nino Archibque and Eddie Baca. GUFFEY -- Bruce Edwin Guffey, 82, a resident of NM since 1957, died December 2, 2008 at his home. He was born in Southland, Nebraska on November 7, 1926 to Edwin and Esther Guffey. Although he was born in Nebraska, Guffey was raised in El Paso, Texas where he joined the US Navy and served proudly during WWII. Upon his return he enrolled in the University of Nebraska and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Husbandry. Guffey was a jack of all trades and entrepreneur for awhile until he went to work for Mountain Bell where he retired after 22 years of service in Roswell, Clovis, Santa Fe, and Albuquerque. Most importantly, Guffey was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Mary S. Guffey; eight children; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was a member of Toastmasters, an active political advocate, loved outdoor and water sports and lived to play golf. A celebration of Guffey's life will be Saturday, December 20, 2008 from 1-4 p.m. at the Desert Greens Golf Course, 10035 Country Club Lane NW (in Paradise Hills). HAGER -- Frank Hager was born in Pilot Point, Texas on Thursday, November 1, 1928, All Saint's Day, and though he wasn't a saint in every sense of the word, he was a true saint to his family and friends. He passed away on Monday evening, December 8, 2008. He spent most of his early years in Oklahoma, and moved to Dumas, Texas, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Dru Brown. Their relationship has endured for over sixty years. They moved to Albuquerque in 1949 and started their own business, Hager Lawn Sprinkler. After a seven year period spent in South Carolina where Frank worked on the Savannah River Project, they returned to Albuquerque in 1959 to resume with the irrigation company. Over the years many parks, schools, and golf courses including UNM South were watered with systems installed by Frank's company. They lived in Farmington for a number of years where Frank worked on the power plants. On their return to Albuquerque he designed and built Roll'n Home Park which has flourished for thirty five years. Frank was active in many community organizations especially the Ballut Abyad Shrine where he was a member and captain of the Shrine Patrol and on the Fez Club Committee. He enjoyed driving the old fire truck in recent years. He was also Hospital Chairman for 20 years and coordinated mini-clinics for crippled children and arranged travel for many to the Los Angeles Shrine Hospital for free treatment. He was a member of the Board of Directors of that hospital for eight years. He was a member of the Shriners of North America, the Masonic Lodge Temple 60, the Royal Order of Jesters, the Albuquerque Rotary Club, and the New Mexico Pipe Trades Local 412. He was also a lifelong Democrat and supporter of the party. Frank is survived by wife, Dru; three children, Noel Hager and wife, Susan, Renee Claffy, and Brent Hager and wife, Kim; grand children, Gina Sims and husband, Scott, Cara Claffy, Evan Hager and wife, Sovereign, Todd and Sarah Hager, Bonnie and Lexi Hager; great-grandchildren, Zach, Ava and Grant Sims. Also surviving are Frank's sisters, Movis Butler and Collette Hager. Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. He was generous and helpful to one and all. He will be greatly missed. HART -- Nicholas C. Hart, 19, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2008. Nicholas was born April 6, 1989 in Gillette, Wyoming. He had been a cook at the Lone Star before his death. Nicholas is survived by his mother, Kimberly Hart-Tomasi; step-father, Steve Tomasi of Albuquerque; sister, Kassandra (Kassie) Hart of Albuquerque; step-sisters, Kelly Birrell of Los Lunas, NM, and Amy Tomasi of Albuquerque; nephew, Alexander Dutcher of Albuquerque; grandmother, Gwen Hart; grandfather, Don Hart; aunt, Lissa Hart; and cousin, Sara Hart. HUDGINS -- Bobby Mack Hudgins, devoted husband, father and grandfather, went on to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 6, 2008. He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Carolyne Hudgins; his son Joe Michael and wife Janiece Elaine Hudgins of Laguna Niguel, CA. His son, Darren Scott and wife Jana Lynn Hudgins, also of Laguna Niguel, CA. He had ten grandchildren, two by marriage, John and wife Amanda of Phoenix, AZ; David, Michelle and Stephen belonging to son, Joe Michael. Jason, Jessica and husband Orlando, Austin and MacKenzie belonging to Darren Scott. To add to his family treasure were two great-grandchildren Brenden (age 20 months) belonging to Jessica and Orlando Garcia and his newest great-grandbaby, Lainey (age 5 weeks) belonging to John and Amanda Hudgins. Bobby was born in Amarillo, Texas on December 9, 1930. He was the youngest son of Lunar Hudgins and May Lanford-Hudgins. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Business and furthered his education with a Master's degree in Counseling. Bobby dearly loved his church of 47 years, Heights Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Albuquerque, NM, where he served in many capacities. HUNN -- Betty Lou Hunn, born August 15, 1930, in Santa Fe, New Mexico passed away, Wednesday, December 10, 2008, at the age of 78 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is preceded in death by her husband. Betty Lou is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann Lupinski of Santa Fe, NM and Margaret Mahoney of Rio Rancho, NM; her brother, Albert Moore, of Santa Fe, NM; and numerous nieces. Betty loved music and loved to dance. She organized and ran the weekly chapel, the monthly commodities, and many other activities at Encino Gardens. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Michael Gonzales. JOHNSON -- Katherine Johnson, a 40 year resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2008 with her family at her side. Katherine was born May 9, 1930 in New York,NY. She was a secretary at Kirtland Air Force base for many years. Katherine is survived by her loving daughter Susan Briscoe and husband Andy. She is also survived by her grandchildren Nate, Nicole, and Chelsea who were the lights of her life. She was an amazing, independent woman and will be deeply missed. LARSON -- Thomas E. Larson, age 58, a resident of Moriarty, NM, passed away Wednesday December 10, 2008. He was born on March 26, 1950 in Cadillac, MI to Milton and Eleanor Larson. Mr. Larson was a Respiratory Therapist for many years and went back to school to become a High School teacher. Surviving are his father, Milton Larson; his sister, Mary Grizzard and her husband Jim, all of Cheyenne, WY; his brother, Robert Larson and his wife, Lyne of San Antonio, TX; and several nieces and nephews. LAWSON -- Donald Ralph Lawson, 77, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at his home in Albuquerque, NM with his family by his side. He was born on June 4, 1931 to L. Maude (Hayhurst) and Ralph R. Lawson in their home in David City, NE. His childhood and youth were spent there. He joined the Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout in 1947. He enjoyed playing the clarinet and saxophone and was life guard at the local pool. He graduated from DCHS in 1949. After hitchhiking to his half sister's home in Washington and Oregon, he returned and along with his buddies enlisted in the US Navy in 1950. After completing boot camp in San Diego, CA, he served on the USS Jason where he lost most of his hearing during the Korean War. As a disabled Veteran, he was discharged in 1954 after spending a year in the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the Navy Occupations Medal, the United Nations Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Don returned to Nebraska where he entered college on the GI Bill. He attended Nebraska Wesleyn University, the University of Nebraska, Kearney State and Chadron State Colleges. He also worked for a while in Washington, DC for a firm that photographed government documents. While in Chadron, NE, he met and married Geraldine Weis on January 20, 1962 and graduated from Chadron State College with a BS in Education degree the following May. He taught English, mathematics and German in Madison, Dorchester and David City, Nebraska. In July of 1973, he was employed by the Federal Government at the Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg, PA as a Naval Submarine Sonar Purchasing Specialist. He received several commendations (or as he always said, "At-A Boy"!) for his diligent and exemplary work. At this time, he had moved his family to Carlisle, PA where he lived until his retirement in January of 1994. Shortly after retirement, he and his wife moved to Albuquerque, NM. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and of the American Legion. Don enjoyed flying, reading, rooting for his beloved "Cornhuskers", talking to little children, working on his family genealogy, listening to classical and jazz music, traveling and loving his family. He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Ger); daughters, Michelle Jackson (Harold) of Albuquerque, Kristine Weinberger (Craig) of Columbus, WI and son, Michael Lawson (Lisa) of Albuquerque; brother, Robert Lawson (Sara) of Vashon, WA; sister-in-law, Joan Kaiser of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He had six grandchildren; Nicholas and Jacquelyn Weinberger of Columbus, WI; Ryan and Nathan Jackson of Albuquerque and McKenzie and Kaely Lawson of Albuquerque. Preceding him in death were his parents; aunts; uncles; two half sisters; and a half brother. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 4:00 p.m., at Ambassadors for Christ Community Church, 1540 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE. A Reception will follow. MARTIN -- Philip J. Martin, 73, passed away on December 11, 2008. He was born May 26, 1935 to Diana and Clarence Martin, in Gallup, NM. Philip is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy Louise Martin; two children, Philip J. Martin Jr. and his wife Daphany, and Diane Martin, all of Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren, Tyler, Larissa, Philip, and Samantha; two siblings, Jean and Tony. He was a generous husband, father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor. Philip was very devoted to his family and was loved by all who met him. MATHERLEE -- Dale L. Matherlee, age 57, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2008. He was a very loving, proud and devoted father and friend. He was an expert machinist, a gifted pool player and fisherman. He held a tremendous love for his family and friends. MOSHER -- Marion Elizabeth Mosher passed away on December 8, 2008. Marion was born in Viborg, SD in 1919. Marion was adopted by Dr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cramer. She graduated from nursing school and joined the U.S. army during WWII. In Tehran, Iran where she met and married "the love of her life" A.E. (Barney) Barnhizer. She was preceded in death by siblings Melvin, Lloyd and Gladys, Josephine. She is survived by her daughters Sharon Dietz, Linda Barnhizer, Vickie Landtroop and son-in-law Wayne Landtroop and niece Susan Farrington. Marion was also mother to stepchildren Danette Collins, Gerald Mosher Jr., Wendy Baugham and Sammie Richardson of Albuquerque, NM. Four grandchildren, Angela Miller, Kevin Landtroop, Mike Dietz and Steven Dietz and niece Susan Farrington. Three great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons. She will be missed by all. Marion will be buried in Albuquerque, NM next to her beloved husband Gerald G. Mosher.

MOYA -- Anthony F. "Tony" Moya, 66, lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, December 11, 2008. He served his country in the United States Air Force having seen duty during the Vietnam War. Tony worked for the United States Post Office 40 years, retiring in 2007. STABLEFORD -- Vernon Guy Stableford, 57, a resident of Tijeras, lost his battle with brain cancer on Thursday, December 11, 2008, surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathy Stableford; son, Adam Stableford and wife Kristina; daughter, Amber Brokaw and husband Josh; mother, Barbara Erwin and husband Bill; brother, William Stableford; sister, Patricia L'Amie and husband Bill; nephew, Bryan Benson.; and numerous other loving family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Vernon was born in Kingman, AZ, on February 1, 1951, and was raised in Arizona, Louisiana, and Texas, before moving to Albuquerque in 1971. He was an automation engineer with Intel, working many years in the computer industry, previously with Singer, Modcomp, Kemtah, and Hewlett Packard. Vernon's hobbies included computers, bowling, and his model airplanes and trains. He was a longtime member of Mountainside Church of Christ, where he served many years as a deacon and teacher. Vernon was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. Services will be held on 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at Mountainside Church of Christ, 12300 Indian School Rd NE. Interment will follow at the McCall Family Cemetery.
