PLONT -- Roger George Plont went to be with The Lord on April 8, 2008. He was born October 26, 1940, in Ludington, Michigan to Joe and Genevieve (Chavalia) Plont and grew to be our dad, a mighty man of God, long-distance runner, puppeteer, craftsman, and prophetic speaker who loved unconditionally his children and grandchildren, Teil (Judi), Aurora, Orion, Ariana, Aiden, Emily, Ariel, Samantha, Zachary, Izzabella, Trinity, Suzie Leigh; Trom; Sunny; Levi (Angela), Faith, Alorah, and Vance. They all remain except for Orion who went on before his grandpa on April 3, 2008. Also surviving Roger are his sisters, Janet Plont, Diana (Leo) Bordeaux, and Elizabeth Plont of Muskegon, Michigan; Barbara (Robert) Bergbower of Lake Kiowa, Texas; Beverly Dykema of Fruitport, Michigan; and six nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandsons, Christian and Orion; his parents; and his brother, Leroy Plont. Funeral arrangements and Services are by Reflections, 2400 Washington, NE and Roger's children, who will serve as pallbearers at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2008, with interment following at Sunset Memorial Park.

SEGRETTO -- Camille Segretto of Los Lunas, 73, died April 7, 2008, after a prolonged illness. She was born and raised in New York City, NY, and has resided in New Mexico for the last 12 years. She is survived by her mother, Nancy; her brother, Paul; her children, Nancy, Marie, Joseph, and Daniel; her 10 grandchildren; and her great-granddaughter. Camille was very involved in the community and volunteered for many organizations. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at San Clemente Catholic Church at 244 Luna Ave NE in Los Lunas. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a donation be sent to the UNM Cancer Center.

SHURICK -- James Andrew Shurick died Wednesday, April 2, 2008, from leukemia. Jim was born on January 21, 1922 in Mt. Savage, Maryland, and grew up in the hills of West Virginia. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corp in 1941 and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy at the end of World War II, in 1945. Jim moved to Chicago, married his childhood sweetheart, and received a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He moved with his family to Albuquerque in 1972 and worked for the Department of Energy, retiring in 1990. In retirement, he enjoyed playing softball and golf, working around the house, and was an avid baseball and football fan. He was a devoted husband and the perfect father. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Minnie; daughter, Donna Deetz, and her children, Andrew and Jamie; daughter, Lisa Burkett her husband, Rick, and their children, Sam and Kate; daughter, Sharon Pye her husband, Chip, and their child, Jessica; great-grandson, Ethan Deetz; brother, George Shureck; and sister, Wanda Lee Horne. He is in God's hands now, but the memories he leaves will always remain in the hearts of those who loved him. His ashes are interred at the Veteran's National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM, and, at his request, no other services will be held. TAFOYA -- Rita P. Tafoya, 92, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2008 at her home in Socorro, NM surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 8, 1915 to Max and Teresita (Tafoya) Peralta in Kelly, NM. She is preceded in death by her husband, George A. Tafoya; son, Frank Tafoya; grandchildren, Phillip Tafoya, Tommy Tafoya, Marty Soto and Diedre Tafoya. She is survived by her children, Mike Tafoya and wife, Sadie of Albuquerque, NM; Ted Tafoya and wife, Ann of Santa Rosa, NM; David Tafoya and wife, Rosemary of Albuquerque; George Tafoya Jr. and wife, Pam of Albuquerque; Joe Tafoya and Robert Tafoya, both of Albuquerque; Corine Aragon and husband, Benito of Albuquerque; Ernestine Gonzales and husband, Marco of Socorro; and Mary Soto and husband, Angel of San Antonio, NM; sister, Angelica Tafoya of Magdalena, NM; 20 grandchildren; 42 great- grandchildren; and six great- great- grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Steadman-Hall Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Rosary will be recited on Monday, April 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Magdalena, NM with Funeral Mass immediately following. Father Andy Pavlak as Celebrant. Burial will be in the Magdalena Cemetery. Pallbearers are Michael Tafoya Jr., Michael Gonzales, Benny Aragon, Rick Aragon, Paul Tafoya and Manuel Anaya. TRUJILLO -- Joe Trujillo, Jr., 73, of Ponderosa, NM, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Judy Trujillo; one son, Joseph M. Trujillo and his wife, Colleen, of Albuquerque, NM; two daughters, Arlene Vega and husband, Juan, of Alto Loma, CA, and Leslie S. Ella paso lejos despues de que una batalla extensa con una enfermedad terminal rodeada por su familia carinosa. A Manuel Lujan Becerra, marido la sobrevive de 33 anos; ella dedico a ninos, Enrique y Roxanne, Mireya y marido Roger Emanuel, Jr. de Manuel. y esposa Kristy Becerra. Nietos, que ella amo mas que su propia vida, ILIANNA, Nevaeh y un nieto previsto debido en noviembre. A sus hermanos Esteban, Euheno, Juan y hermanas Sixta, Louisa, Maria de La Paz, Engracia, y Maria de Jesus Lopez Soltero tambien la sobrevive. BECERRA -- Mercedes "Meche" Becerra, age 54, a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and mother-in-law, was a New Mexico resident for 29 years. She was born in Jalisco, Mexico on May 14, 1953, to the late Mariana and Guadalupe Soltero. Meche passed away after an extensive battle with a terminal illness, surrounded by her loving family on April 11, 2008. She is survived by Manuel Lujan Becerra, loving husband of 33 years; her devoted children, Enrique and Roxanne, Mireya and husband, Roger Emanuel, Manuel Jr. and his wife, Kristy Becerra; grand-children, which she loved more than her own life, ILIANNA, Nevaeh and an expected grand-child due in November; brothers, Esteban, Euheno, Juan; and sisters, Sixta, Louisa, Maria de La Paz, Engracia, and Maria de Jesus Lopez Soltero. Meche is preceded in her passing by her sister Maria de Refugo Munuz. Mercedes was a home maker, and a devoted mother and wife. A Memorial Service commemorating Mercedes's life will be held in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Alb.
