MORGAN -- John Thomas Morgan, age 60, of Rio Rancho, went to be with his Lord Friday, July 6, 2007. John was born October 14, 1946, in Paragould, AR to Harry and Ina Morgan. After school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He worked as a plant supervisor in the manufacturing industry. John loved southwestern art and lived his dream of working in a gallery atmosphere, living in the Southwest the last years of his life. He loved life and his family, and cherished his friends. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Peggy Morgan; son, Bryan Morgan and his wife, Heather; daughter, Kim Trower and her husband, Mike; daughter, Tracy Sweazey and her husband, Raymond; daughter, Jennifer Leedom; grandchildren, Ryland Morgan, Wesley Sweazey, Bayle Sweazey and Alison Wells. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 9, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Rio Rancho with Pastor Si Budagher officiating. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Friends may visit Monday morning beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the church. MORRIS -- Billy L. Morris of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on June 27, 2007 following a short illness, at the age of 74 years. Bill was born on July 12, 1932 in Tucumcari, NM to Loyd E. Morris Sr. and Daisy (Lovelady) Morris. Bill attended the Tucumcari schools, graduating from high school in 1951. He then attended Eastern New Mexico University at Portales, NM, where he obtained his Bachelors degree in Elementary Education in 1955. He then begin his teaching career at Los Alamos, NM, where he taught for three years. Bill then taught with the Military Dependant Schools overseas, where he taught in various capacities including principalship. This segment of his teaching career included two years in Japan, two years in England, and seven years in Germany, a total of eleven years. During this time he returned to ENMU three summers to obtain his Masters degree in School Administration. In 1969, Bill returned to the States and enrolled at the University of New Mexico and started working on his Doctorate. After two years, he returned to teaching in the Albuquerque Schools, and completed his Ph.D in 1976. In 1994, Bill retired, having taught for 39 years. Bill took up skiing while at Los Alamos and continued to pursue this passion while overseas, traveling to many countries other than where he was teaching. Bill was preceded in death by his mother in 1973; his father in 1974; his brother, Robert Morris in 1993; his sister, Clara New in 1996. Bill is survived by his best friend and partner of over 33 years, C. A. Boliver; one brother, Loyd E. Morris, Jr. (wife, Ann) of Plano, TX; a sister-in-law, LaVerne Morris of San Antonio, TX; a brother-in-law, Jim New (wife, Wilma) of Clovis, NM; one niece, Cari Daugherty (husband, John) of Cedar Park, TX; nephews, Loyd "Skip" Morris III (wife, Becki) of England; Jamie New (wife, Tina) of Clovis, NM; John Morris (wife, Patti) of San Antonio, TX; several great and great-great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Bill was a loving and very generous person. One of his favorite hobbies was taking snap shots at rodeos, and giving copies of the snap shots to the contestants. Bill loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed by many. As per his request, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date.

OTERO -- Theodore "Ted" A. Otero, age 52, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2007. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Albuquerque. Ted proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a well-known and respected musician all over the United States. He was a free spirit and loved to be around his friends, fans, and family. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Ted is survived by his son, Zachariah Finch of Kentucky; his mother, Juanita Otero of Albuquerque; uncle, Frank Otero of Peralta; aunt, Ida Francis of Albuquerque; special cousins, Victoria Vigil and her husband, Ernest and Gloria Francis, all of Albuquerque; and many other loving relatives and friends. Services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Albuquerque beginning with a visitation on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A final visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10:00. Interment will follow at Valencia Catholic Cemetery. PEREA -- Cres Perea, age 74, beloved and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, July 2, 2007. PIERSON -- Edythe M. Pierson, 92, passed away July 1, 2007 in Albuquerque. Edythe was born March 25, 1915 in Onida, SD to George and Ruth McMacken. She attended William Penn College in Iowa and graduate studies at University of Chicago and UNM in Albuquerque. She married Ryan Pierson in 1949. She was Assistant Director at the State Agency on Aging, past State Director of AARP, and served on boards of advocacy organizations for children and the elderly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ryan. Survived by her daughter, Alice Pierson and husband, Rex, of Bailey, CO; son, Lyndon Pierson and wife, Arthurine, of Albuquerque; stepson, Ryan Pierson, Jr. and wife, Elsie, of BelAir, MD; grandchildren, Marshall and Tessa Alford and Meghan and David Pierson; sisters, Ida Smelser and husband, John, of Albuquerque and Naomi Guilliani of Half Moon Bay, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday July 15, 2007 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 9315 Candelaria Rd. NE. QUILLIN -- Shirley D. Quillin, 73, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with the angels on Wednesday, July 4, 2007. She was born July 1, 1934 in San Diego, CA. Shirley is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 54 years, Norman; children Debbie, Terry, Darrell and LeAnn; grandchildren, Mary and Jacque Caswell, Elias, Sara and Jacob Jaber, Katy and Kimberly Quillin, Wayne and Garrett Napoleone; four great-grandchildren including, Elias Young; and her good friends Beverly Draper and Catherine Martin. SAIZ -- David D. Saiz, 52, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on July 7, 2007. David is the beloved son to Ruby C. Saiz and loving brother to Mary Ann Michel, Tanya R. Saiz, and Joseph D. Hernandez, Sandra Saiz, and Phillip Serna and Frank Siaz Jr. and wife, Theresa. David also survived by his nieces, Krystal, Lindsey, Lauren, Laura, Nicole and Rochelle; one nephew, Julian; great nieces, Frankee, Rachel, Natalie, Alena, Samantha and Alexis; great nephews, Phillip III and Jacob; a sister in law, Linda Saiz; uncles, Rudy E. Garcia and wife, Maxine and Donald R. Garcia; one aunt, Helen Simoni and many cousins and friends. David was preceded in death by his father, Frank B. Saiz Sr. David was a member of the Catholic Church, a graduate of Rio Grande High School, 1973, Graduate of the School for the Blind in Alamagordo, New Mexico and he loved his conga's and all of his music. Visitation for David will be Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mary Montoya. Final visitation will be Tuesday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with a Communion Service to be held at 9:00 a.m. by Deacon Santos Abeyta. Cremation will take place and burial of David's cremains will take place at a later date. Pallbearers will be, Petro Baca, Billy D.
