PIERSON -- Edythe M. Pierson, 92, passed away July 1, 2007 in Albuquerque. Edythe was born March 25, 1915 in Onida, SD to George and Ruth McMacken. She attended William Penn College in Iowa and graduate studies at University of Chicago and UNM in Albuquerque. She married Ryan Pierson in 1949. She was Assistant Director at the State Agency on Aging, past State Director of AARP, and served on boards of advocacy organizations for children and the elderly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ryan. Survived by her daughter, Alice Pierson and husband, Rex, of Bailey, CO; son, Lyndon Pierson and wife, Arthurine, of Albuquerque; stepson, Ryan Pierson, Jr. and wife, Elsie, of BelAir, MD; grandchildren, Marshall and Tessa Alford and Meghan and David Pierson; sisters, Ida Smelser and husband, John, of Albuquerque and Naomi Guilliani of Half Moon Bay, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday July 15, 2007 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 9315 Candelaria Rd. NE.
