DIX -- Lenore A. Dix, age 74, went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, October 14th, 2007. Lenore leaves behind seven children, 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren- children, Margaret, husband Don Piat, Colburn Dix, Linda, husband Jim Wood, Diane, husband Tony Apodaca, Tonia Tourville, boyfriend Errol Vega, Stacey Dix and Doreen Dix; grandchildren- Cassandra, boyfriend Shaun, Jared, girlfriend Rose, Joshua, wife Schaysa, Christian, James, wife Chrystal, Anthony, wife Francesca, Alicia, husband Jeff, Damien, Johnathon, Angelique and Brendon; great-grandchildren- Haydon, Devon, Robert, Josiah, Shauntae, Jonus, Scky, Isabella, Serafina, Lexus, and Damien. She is also survived by three sisters Rebecca Patrick and husband Albert, Patricia Polsky and Connie Corley and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Lynn A. Dix, parents Veronica and Nestor Martinez and grandson Shane Dix. Lenore was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Services will be held Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. GIERSCH -- Jerry Giersch Sr., 76, a long time resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, October 15, 2007. He is survived by his loving wife, Cleo Giersch; children, Billie Jo Palmer, Thomas Gallegos, Mary Lou Widener, Teresa Melendez, Alan Gallegos, David Giersch Jr, Paul Gallegos, Ben Giersch and John Giersch; grandchildren, Ramon Broadbent, Atticus Broadbent, Billie Heliker, Randall Widener, Carli Marshall, Chelsea Marshall, Tracie Garcia, Adrian Gallegos, Gabriel Gallegos, Denae Giersch, Kendra Giersch, Jayden Giersch. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Connelley; and granddaughter, Jennifer Iodence. He was a founding member of Church of the Risen Savior and member of the Knight of Columbus. He worked for Wellborn Paint for over 30 years. He was a Marine Veteran of the Korean War. GRIEGO -- Anthony Andrew Griego, 55, born October 16, 1951 found his peace on October 13, 2007, after a long battle with diabetes. Anthony was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, who was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and talking about the Bible with whomever he met. He is remembered for being a very loyal and trustworthy person. One whom you could count on for anything and he never held back from helping anyone. He had the biggest heart anyone could imagine. To his family, he will always be our hero. We will miss him very much. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Griego; father, Placido Griego; brother, John Patrick Griego; sister-in-law, Gina Griego; and niece, Kristin Griego. He is survived by his wife, Irene Griego; two sons, Mark Griego Sr. and wife, Megan, and David Griego; one grandson, Mark Griego Jr.; his brothers, James Edward Griego, George Griego, Mike Griego and wife, Shirley, Greg Griego, Frank Griego and wife, Martha, Danny Griego and wife, Penny; sisters, Bertha Neal and husband, Joseph, Angela Roha and husband, Robert; sister-in-law, Betty Griego; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews; and many cousins. HERRERA -- Paul S. Herrera, 66, died Sunday. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jose and Julia Herrera. Mr. Herrera is survived by his wife: Oralia (Orie) Herrera; step-children: Michael (Vivian) Garica, Manuel (Maxine) Garcia, Ray (Jeaniece) Garcia and Norma (Joe) Gonzales and many relatives and friends. He was retired from the City of Albuquerque Animal Control - "Big Meanie I love you and I'll miss you, Little Meanie Analisa." HINDE -- Mary Evelyn Hinde passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 14, 2007. Mrs. Hinde was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Fanning in 1915; her father, Reagan E. Brewer in 1947; and by her beloved husband of 57 years, Thomas G. Hinde in 1989. She was born on August 26, 1914 in Hope, NM. Mrs. Hinde attended school in Albuquerque, graduating from Albuquerque High School and the University of New Mexico. Mrs. Hinde resided most of her married life in Albuquerque. Mr. Hinde's occupation took them to Roswell in 1962. While there, she taught school and worked as the Director of Education in the first United Methodist Church. Mr. Hinde's job took them back to Albuquerque in 1970. She worked for a short time at Christ Methodist Church. Mr. Hinde retired in 1972, and the two of them traveled extensively until his death. Mrs. Hinde is survived by two loving daughters, Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Barrett and husband, Larry, of Peralta, NM and Mary Margaret Hall and husband, Gene, of Mountain View, CA, and by four grandchildren, Deborah Daniels and Dan J. Daniels, both of Los Lunas, NM and Ann Lyn Hall and partner, Shauna Kapel, of Albuquerque, NM and Jason Thomas Hall of San Jose, CA. Mrs. Hinde was active in many organizations. She was a Past Matron of San Marcial Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Albuquerque, a Past Matron of Jessamine Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Belen, Past Worthy High Priestess of Albuquerque Shrine #1 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Past President of the Albuquerque Past Matrons Club, Past President of the Belen Past Matrons Club, Member of Yucca Temple Daughters of the Nile and Associate Member of the Manzano Club of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church and Member of the Honored Ladies organization. The Viewing and Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2007 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona NE, Albuquerque. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m., also at St. John's United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hinde will be laid to rest, next to her husband, at Sunset Memorial Park, following the funeral service. JONES -- Altman Jones Jr., age 66, passed away on October 12, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. He was born to Altman Jones Sr. and Luella in Jackson, MS. Altman was the light of his family. His smile was heart melting. Everyone that knew him, loved him and he them. Altman was very loving to others and gave of himself to others. He was a great example to others. Altman was a beloved and precious brother. He is survived by his sisters, Marlene Chase who was his caregiver for many years, Nancy Casias and husband, Bob, Margaret Albaugh; and he is also survived by five nephews and two nieces. Altman also has a special niece, Luella Kathlene Eastman and special nephew, Wayne Vineyard. Altman was preceded in death by his parents, Altman Jones Sr. who was an evangelical preacher and his mother, Luella, who was an angel. MARSH -- Erwin Marsh, 86, of Albuquerque passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2007. He was born in Durango, CO and raised in Pueblo, CO. Erwin served in the US Army in WWII and participated in the Normandy invasion. He married Carol Barnett in 1946. They moved to Albuquerque with their two young children in 1952. He is survived by Carol Marsh, his loving wife of 61 years; son, Lawrence Marsh and wife, Patricia of Pittsburgh, PA; daughter, Janis Marsh Gasparich and husband, John of Santa Fe; brother, Leon Marsh and wife, Wilma of Pueblo, CO; granddaughter, Wendy Marsh Dendy and husband, Mike; and great-grandchildren, Callie and Carson of Chattanooga, TN. Survivors also include niece, Charline Hunt; nephews, Ken Marsh and wife, Robin, Patrick Marsh and wife, Fran, Jon Marsh and wife, Linda, as well as special friends Noe and Jenny Ramirez. MUDRY -- Mary M. Mudry, 93, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1978, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2007. Mary was born November 2, 1913, the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Garnel Harahus in Van Meter, PA. She came to New Mexico from California. Mary had crocheted over 200 sweaters for charity, for handicapped children. She had lived independently until just recently. Mary was preceded in death by her son, David Mudry in 1977. She is survived by one sister, Helen Gugel of Marietta, OH; three nephews, Jack Harris of Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, Gerald Harris of Marine City, MI, and Michael Harahus of Avondale, AZ; and one niece, Diane Gugel of Marietta, OH. O'BRIEN -- Larry J. "OB" 77, died October 13, 2007 from complications of lung cancer with his family by his side. Larry was born in Omaha, NE on December 2, 1929, to father, Joseph and mother, Opal (Beckwith) O'Brien. He spent 4 years in the US Air Force stationed in Cheyenne, WY. He married Phyllis (Dolly) McDonald in January 1952. After discharge from the Air Force, they settled in Albuquerque where he was employed by US West and retired from Qwest after approximately 38 years. Larry was past president of CWA and an active member of the Telephone Pioneers he was involved in the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, the selling of popcorn at the US West bldg downtown and the Telephone Pioneer Museum. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis; his children, Patty (Sam) Silva, Pam (Rick) Kopp, Ken (Samantha) O'Brien all of Albuquerque; his sister, Jan (Bob) Bergman of Brighton, CO; and his brother, Gary O'Brien; grandchildren, Jason (Angela) Silva of Ukiah, CA, Joreen Silva, Zachary & Caleb O'Brien - all of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Brad Silva and Krysteen Terlouw of Ukiah, and Garrett McElhannon of Albuquerque; plus numerous nieces and nephews. SANDOVAL -- Eduardo Antonio 'Pompo' Sandoval went home on Monday, October 15, 2007 at the age of 89. Mr. Sandoval was a member of the St. Therese Catholic Church. He was a veteran of World War II, an ex-prisoner of war, and a Bataan Death March survivor. He was also a member of the VFW. Mr. Sandoval was preceded in death by his grandson, Jerry F. Sandoval. He is survived by his daughter, caretaker, and his angel, Becky Sandoval; sons, Bobby Sandoval, Jerry Sandoval and wife, Rose, Roland Sandoval; brothers, Juan and Jesus; sisters, Lupe and Vickie; granddaughter and goddaughter, Heather and husband, Sam Salazar; grandchildren, Michael Sandoval and Berna Sandoval; and great-grandchildren, Joshua, Brandy, Jerriana, Mercedes and Alyssa. SIMMONS -- Captain Barry Clayton Simmons Retired On October 12, 2007, Captain Barry C. Simmons went to be with the Lord. He passed away at home after a short illness. He was born on May 30, 1941, in Reidsville, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his father, Basil LaClaire Simmons. He is survived by his wife, Linda Baker Simmons; Mother, Victoria Maybell Simmons of Lexington, NC; Brothers, Kaye Simmons of Tazewell, VA; Dale Simmons of Lexington, NC: Sisters: Shirley Rummage and husband, Larry, also of Lexington, NC, and Donna Darrh and husband, Mike, of Mr. Airy, NC. He is also survived by his children, Barry C. Simmons, JR. and wife, Lori, of Albuquerque, NM; Randall Scott Simmons and wife, Angie, of Concrete, WA; Vicki Buck and husband, David, of Ferndale, WA; and Joel Simmons, of Ferndale, WA; Stepsons, Michael Baker of Raleigh, NC and Scott Baker and wife, Lauren of Los Angeles, CA as well as 12 grandchildren. Barry served his country in the United States Air Force. During his tenure with the Air Force, he served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. He received numerous commendations and awards for the work he performed while serving his country in the nuclear energy facility in Sundance, WY. He was a graduate of the Air Force Officers Academy in San Antonio, TX and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with a minor in Nuclear Engineering from Arizona State University. After his retirement, he was an entrepreneur in various businesses including, in his latter years, a professional engineering consulting firm. He also worked for the City of Albuquerque, NM, and the City of Arlington, WA as a civil engineer. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Church Alive, located at 4601 Avocet Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM. SOUZA -- John Alexander Souza, 84, a resident of Honolulu, Hawaii passed away on October 14, 2007. Mr. Souza is survived by four children, Patricia Persinger and husband, Richard, Carol Ellwood and husband, Charles, Drusilla Souza, Alice VIgil and husband, Harold; one sister, Agnes Yuen; brothers, Benjamin Alvarez, Jimmy Alvarez and wife, Jenny, David Alvarez and Kanak Victorino; his fiancee, Alma Lee; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Souza was preceded in death by his wife Muriel of 49 years. Mr. Souza was born in Ewa Hawaii and was a resident of Albuquerque for about 8 years before going back to Hawaii and joined the Coast Guard/Merchant Marines serving in World War II. A Funeral Service will be Wednesday morning in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel at 8:30 a.m. with visitation after 8:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with Military Honors. STONE -- Katyerae Stone, age 99, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007 following a brief illness. She was born on October 31, 1907 in Durant, Oklahoma to the late William and Verna (Cole) Stone. After graduating from Durant High School, Katyerae attended Southeastern University, in Durant, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. She taught school in Durant for 16 years prior to coming to Albuquerque in 1944. She taught first grade at Bandelier Elementary for 27 years, retiring in 1971 to care for her mother. It was said of Katyerae that she could teach a dead stump to read, a wonderful reference to her teaching skills and her discipline. Katyerae was a member of Central United Methodist Church where she was involved with United Methodist Women, and a member of the Friendly Bible Class. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Educational Sorority, and a member of Sigma Kappa Social Sorority. Katyerae will be fondly remembered by former students and special friends in Albuquerque. Those friends closest to her would often tell her how amazing she was for still living on her own at her age. A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 18, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., at Chester T. STOUT -- Lucille Lois (Magee) Stout, age 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, October 14, 2007 at Ana Kaseman Hospice Center. Lucille was born February 16, 1924 to Tom and Lois (Fressle) Magee in Dunkerton, IA. She was the wife of Melvin W. Stout, for 52 years, who preceded her in death in 1997. Lucille, Melvin and their six children moved to Albuquerque from Iowa in 1957 to assume a teaching position at Menaul School. While in Albuquerque, Lucille pursued her LPN degree and then worked at various medical facilities and private duty assignments in New Mexico and Oklahoma. After her working years, Lucille and her husband retired to the Las Cruces area in 1990, where they worked with the Gideons International. She was also a member of the First Evangelical Free Church of Las Cruces. She is survived by four brothers, Raleigh Magee and Jed Magee of Iowa, David Magee of Missouri and Tom Magee of Colorado; her daughters, Milly Mastin of Ruidoso, NM, Eunice Leah Warren of San Mateo, CA, Bethel Stout of Wichita, KS, Harriet Watkins of Bernalillo, NM, and Ruth Lines of Cross Junction, VA; eight grandchildren, Todd Mastin, Troy Mastin, Josh Watkins, Daniel Watkins, Sarah Watkins, Chris Watkins, Leif Watkins and Jessica Lines; and four great-grandchildren, Ella Mastin, Wyatt Mastin, Jennah Watkins and Amelia Herrera. Lucille was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence David Stout in 1967; sister, Marty Meyerhoff; and brother, Jack Magee. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2007, 12:00 noon, at Alameda Bible Church, 220 El Pueblo Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM ( between Second and Fourth streets) with Pastor Malcolm Bicker officiating. A luncheon reception will follow the service in the church Fellowship Hall. Funeral and Burial Services will be held Friday, October 19, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at the First Evangelical Free Church, 1435 South Pecos, Las Cruces, NM, with Pastor John Powell officiating. A luncheon will be served in the church Fellowship Hall followed by interment at the Masonic Cemetery in Las Cruces, NM. TRUJILLO -- Pamala Trujillo was born April 2, 1959, and passed away October 10, 2007. She is survived by her husband, Tony Trujillo; her son, Cody; sisters, Rebecca Livingston, Lori Lovato, and Stanlyn Alberti; brothers, Michael Lovato, Allen Alberti and David Alberti; father, Stanley Alberti; stepfather, Julio Lovato; and niece, Nicole Livingston. She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris and her sister, Roxanne. Pamala was a loving and wonderful wife and mother. She loved to write poetry, and had a poem inducted into the Library of Congress. She will be greatly missed. A viewing will take place on Thursday, October 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riverside Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. WEISS -- Patricia Sellers Born September 1, 1946 in Palo Alto CA, and Died October 13, 2007 in Albuquerque NM. She is survived by her parents, Thomas and Maxine Weiss of Alamosa, CO; her son, Paxton Stoker of Albuquerque, NM; her daughter, Mieka Stoker; and her granddaughter, Lilith Patricia Stoker of Belen NM. She was a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner recently retired from the University of New Mexico's Newborn ICU. She lead an amazing life and she brought great joy and strength into her family. We will miss her very much.
