WHITLEY -- ROBERT Mr. Robert "Mig" Whitley, 90, of LaGrange, GA, passed away Friday, September 14, 2007 at Hospice LaGrange. He was born April 29, 1917 in Randolph County, AL, the son of the late Thomas Matthew and Etta Jane Brown Whitley. He grew up in LaGrange and later moved to Albuquerque, NM. In 1980 he retired as a furniture salesman and moved to Thomaston, then to Tracy, CA and finally returned to LaGrange. Each place he lived he was active in his church. He was a deacon at First Baptist Albuquerque for over 20 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church on the Square and helped in the Community Soup Kitchen. He was a down to earth humble man who wanted to be a servant. Survivors include his wife, Hazel Partain Whitley; a son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Ruth Whitley of Greenleaf, ID; a daughter-in-law, Ann Whitley of Chandler, AZ; sisters, Lola Williams, Obie Geter and Esther Cline, all of LaGrange; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Whitley, Jr.; and brothers, Oliver Whitley, Walter Whitley, and Chester Whitley; and a sister, May Duke. A Memorial Service was held at the Ida Cason Callaway Chapel of the First Baptist Church on the Square with Dr. Paul R. Baxter officiating. ARMIJO -- Danny L. Armijo, 41, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 17, 2007. Danny is survived by his parents, Louie and Rita Armijo; his sister, Yolanda Armijo-Bayles and husband, Troy; two nieces, Sylvia Armijo Bayles and Tiffany Bayles; his nephews, Michael Armijo Bayles and Troy Bayles Jr.; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will be Friday, September 21, 2007, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Final visitation will be Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. BLOSSOM -- Jeremiah James Blossom, 30, a resident of Albuquerque, died suddenly from complications of a heart attack on Tuesday, September 18, 2007. He is survived by his daughter, Korrine Blossom; mother, Karen Blossom and husband, David Ruelli; father, Patrick Blossom and Cheryl; partner, Melissa Atencio; brother, Ian Blossom; step-sisters, Erin Silas and Meghan East; grandparents, Jack and Helen Fuller and Lorna McIntyre; canines, Coors and Jett. CLEMMONS -- Woodrow Clemmons, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 in Albuquerque, NM. Woodrow was born on May 23, 1918 to Joseph and Sarah Clemmons in Lela Lake, TX. Woodrow married his high school sweetheart, Onieta Qualls in 1939 and have been together for 68 years. After graduation in Pampa, TX, he moved to Santa Fe, NM in 1940 to work for the Standard Oil Company as the Assistant Manager for their Sales Department. Woodrow joined the United States Navy in 1944 and was part of the Pacific Theater. After an honorable discharge in 1945, he moved to Roswell, NM leasing a Standard Oil Station for five years. He sold the station in 1951 and joined Malco Refineries and transferred to Albuquerque, NM. Shortly thereafter. While employed by Malco, he was assigned to a training school at DuPont Corp. to learn and then to present a program called the "Magic Barrel" and did presentations throughout the Southwest for which he received an award from the Governor of NM. In 1960, he bought Pete's Garage in Albuquerque from his father-in-law, Pete Qualls. He sold the shop and retired from the automotive repair business in 1984. Woodrow was very active with the Lions Club in Roswell and Albuquerque and was an Albuquerque Life Member of BPOE # 461, Woody loved his family and sitting on the back porch watching his garden grow, making homemade ice cream and cooking steaks. Woodrow is survived by his wife Onieta; their two children, son, Woody Joe Clemmons and wife Kay of Hamilton, TX and daughter, Nanette Bolden of Albuquerque, NM; three grandchildren, Kim Peterson and husband Brett, Amy Sellers and husband Jason and Sara Sterba and husband Nate; five great-grandchildren, Breely and Jack Peterson, Hannah Sanchez-Sellers and Carlee Sellers and Brian Lucero; one brother, Lester Clemmons and one sister, Betty Gage. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel with Chaplain Fergis Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. COOK -- Alice Monte Cook, Our beloved wife and mother, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 17, 2007. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Earl Cook; her children, Gina Burkhalter and husband, Mark, Gemma Hermina and husband, Wahid, Jim Cook and wife, Julie, Josephine Cook and husband Gregg Flynn; grandchildren, Vanessa, Abbi, Ashley and Kammi Cook, Natalie, Sam and Olivia Burkhalter, Christie and Libby Hermina and Ellie and Emily Cook; her sisters, Mary Vaio and Mildred Monte; and sisters-in-law, Gloria Monte and Peggy Monte; and many loving nieces and nephews and special friends. She was preceded in death by her children, Mark and Suzy; her parents; and brothers and sisters. Alice was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend and will be greatly missed. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, playing bridge, and spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored. She was a longtime member of Annunciation Catholic Church. CORLEW -- Ransford M. Corlew, born April 12, 1918, passed away on Monday night at the age of 89 in Albuquerque. He was born in Sioux Falls, SD, to Clarence and Evelyn Corlew. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ursula; son, Randolf and wife, Joni; grandson, Robert and wife, JoAnna; granddaughter, Shellie; and great-granddaughter, Isabella. A career military man, Ransford was a veteran of four theaters of war. He was at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, fought the Nazis in Europe, and saw combat in Korea and Vietnam. He was the recipient of both the Bronze Star and 2 Purple Hearts before his retirement from the Army in 1966. Ransford was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling the western states in his RV with his wife, prospecting, hunting and fishing along the trail. Ransford will be dearly missed by his friends and family. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2007 at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. DAVIS -- JoAnne Taber Davis, passed away, Monday, September 17, 2007 after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jim Davis; daughter, Sheryl Davis of Albuquerque; son, Mike Davis and wife, Amy and grandchildren, Josh and Jordan Davis, all of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Betty Howard; nieces, Debi Dodge and husband, Clint, Shelly Barreras and husband, Steve, and Kim Howard; nephews, Jimmy Tudor and Cindy, Rex Howard and wife, Betty, Jeff Howard and wife, Sheila and daughter, Tina; and many friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her dad, Joe Taber and mom, Odessa Taber. She was born in Corpus Christi, TX on July 8, 1939 and moved to Albuquerque in 1949. JoAnne graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1957. JoAnne retired from APS after working as a secretary at Bandelier, John Baker, and Zuni Elementary. She enjoyed traveling to Laughlin, Las Vegas and Florida. Graveside Services will be held Friday, September 21, 2007, 2:00 p.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. DAWN -- Darlene Harris Dawn, 69, a pianist and longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, September 7, 2007. She is survived by her husband, David Dawn of Albuquerque; daughters, Rachel Harris Mazzulbo of Phoenix and Jennifer Harris Cassin of Baton Rouge, LA; sons, Jay Harris of Phoenix and Doug Harris of London; her mother, Dorothy Landry of Baton Rouge; sisters, Jan Bonham of Mississippi and Kathy Wang of Houston, TX; brother, Lynden Landry of Florida; grandchildren, Ben and Olivia Cassin; nieces, Karen Johnson, Dorothy Wang, Laura Landry; nephews, Harley and John Bonham, Philip Wang, Hank and Paul Landry. Darlene was a professional pianist and music teacher for 50 years, and was principal keyboardist with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra. Her love for life and music touched all who knew her. FRIEDBERG -- Opal Maxine Friedberg, 87, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2007. She was born July 5, 1920 in Dix, NE to William Albert Gunderson and Carrie Louise Kronberg Gunderson. She is survived by two sons, Eugene K. Friedberg and wife, Beth of Wichita, KS and Donald W. Friedberg and wife, Rebecca of Albuquerque. She is survived by grandsons, Michael, Jason, Matthew, David, and Kevin; granddaughters, Laura and Kaylee; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Morton Friedberg in 1982 and son, Robert Allen Friedberg in 2004. Opal graduated from Chadron State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree and from the University of New Mexico with a Master's Degree in Library Science.
