ABLES -- Phyllis Neri Ables, 72, died peacefully at her home on August 16, 2006 after a lengthy and courageous battle with multiple diseases. Born on February 24, 1934, in Albuquerque, NM, she was the beloved youngest child of William and Anna (Schifani) Eggert. Her parents preceded her in death. Phyllis is survived by the four loves of her life, her children: Melodee Witt and husband, Phil, Carole Sullivan and husband, Danny, Daniel Sandlin and wife, Julie, and Shirley Sandlin; grandchildren, Kristopher Bero, Phillip Bero and wife, Maria, Kenny Bero, Sara Sullivan, and Ian and Eric Sandlin; great-granddaughter, ShayLynn Bero. She is also survived by her brothers, Father Francis X. Eggert and Pete Spehar; her sister, Shirley Villa and husband, Charles; niece, Carla Villa and husband, Mike Bickel; great-nephew and niece, Charley and Edie Bickel; uncle, Daniel Schifani of Santa Fe; numerous cousins and countless friends. Her engaging, charismatic personality and glamorous looks helped to create a resume, which included fashion, hospitality, food and beverage, and sales. During the 1960s in Las Vegas, NV, Phyllis modeled for designer boutiques and worked in exclusive hotels and casinos, including Caesar's Palace and the Sands. Here in Albuquerque, she was the office manager at the Albuquerque Business College, managed cash accounting for Cee Vee Concessions at the New Mexico State Fair and was the general manager of the High Noon Restaurant in Old Town. In 1988, Phyllis launched her very successful Mary Kay business, which she continued to work in until the very end of her life. The family would like to extend very special thanks to the doctors whose care and expertise made the last 12 years possible: Dr. Barbara McAneny and her entire staff at NMCC, Dr. Eric Carlson, Dr. Ronnie Garner, Dr. Donald Porter, Dr. T. Philip Jacob, Dr. Jane Schauer, and Dr. Damara Kaplan. She was a force of nature who changed the energy of every room she entered and our lives are forever changed by her leaving. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Rosary will be recited Friday, August 18, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd. NE. DE LA O' -- Lawrence Gonzales De La O', age 80, recently of Malvern, AR and formerly of California, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at his residence. He was born on March 3, 1926, in Dona Ana, NM, to the late Raymundo and Francesca Gonzales De La O'. Reared and receiving his early education in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM, he went on to earn his Associate of Arts Degree from East Los Angeles College. He was a Federal/State Auditor for the county of Los Angeles and was a Korean War Army veteran. He had been a resident of Malvern for the past 18 months, where he was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Malvern. He is survived by his wife, Amelia De La O' of Malvern, to whom he was married on December 24, 1948; by a son, Marcos De La O' of New Jersey; by three daughters, Veronica and her husband, Ward Jenkins, of Kansas, Susan Taft and her husband, Richard, of Malvern, and Delia and her husband, Ralph Rubschlager, of Malvern; by brothers, Arthur and Benjamin De La O' of Albuquerque; by two sisters, Virginia Romero and Nora Rogers of California; a step-sister, Inez Foster; three grandchildren, Kathleen Taft Gatlin and her husband, Scott, and Zack and Caleb Jenkins; and a great-grandson, John Taft Gatlin. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ten o'clock in Saturday morning, August 19, 2006, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Malvern with Father Linus Ukomadu officiating. Interment will follow in Rockport Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of J.A. Funk Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Richard Taft, Ralph Rubschlager, Marcos De La O', Scott Gatlin, Bill O'Keefe and Cary Young. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to San Secondo d'asti' Roman Catholic Church in Ontario, CA.

FOERSTER -- Sandra Miller Foerster of Wilmington, DE, died on Sunday, July 9, 2006, at her home. She was born in Pitcairn, PA, October 15, 1939. She graduated from Highland High School in Albuquerque in 1957. She retired from AstraZeneca in 1993. Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Albert F. Miller of Albuquerque in 2004. She is survived by her son, Mark Foerster, daughter, Carole Trebich, and grandson of Pennsylvania; by her mother, Vivian Miller of Albuquerque; brother, Robert Miller of Carnuel, NM; sister, Carole Tidwell of Ontario, CA.

GARZA -- Manny S. Garza Jr., 40, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on August 16, 2006. Manny is the beloved husband to Jackie Garcia, married for 13 years. Manny is also survived by his sons, Raymond Torres and Manuel Paul Garza; his father, Manny Garza and companion, Ruth Griego; two brothers, Joe Garza and wife, Linda and Carl Smith; four sisters, Maggie Garza and husband, Tomas, Linda Smith, Hazel Harrelson and husband, John, Joann Espinoza and husband, Roy; his father and mother-in-law: David and Lora Otero; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Manny was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Garza and a nephew, Angelo Garza. Manny was a member of the Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Santuario de San Martin Porres Catholic Church, 8301 Camino San Martin SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at San Martin Church with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Father James Vance. HERRERA -- Bernardino Herrera, 49, passed away suddenly Wednesday, August 9, 2006. He was born August 11, 1956, in Albuquerque, NM. He graduated from Manzano High School in 1974. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories after 24 years of service. In 2000 he moved to Las Vegas, NV where he resided at the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Herrera, and two sisters. He is survived by four sisters; two brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Bernardino leaves behind a loving family and numerous friends who will miss him greatly. Pallbearers will be Gene Sr., Nelson Jr., Ken, Michael, Nick Jr., and Jonathan. Honorary pallbearers will be Joey, Gene Jr., and Augustine. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2006 at Direct Services, 2919 4th Street NW. HRNCIR -- Lt. Col. Stanley Godfrey Hrncir Jr., age 63, passed away unexpectedly the morning of August 16th, 2006. Stanley was born January 7, 1943 in Hillje, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from the University of Houston and a Master of Science Degree in Mathematics from Texas A&M. After graduating from A&M, Stanley worked at the Johnson Space Center before joining the Air Force. Some of his assignments during his 20 year military career included working in Shemya, AK, the Pentagon, and the Weapons Lab at Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque. At the time of his death Stanley was a Civil Service Space Systems Analyst for the Air Force and was proud to have been a part of the development and implementation of the first space based space surveillance system in the Air Force Space Command. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Godfrey and Alice Hrncir. He is survived by his wife Judith Ellen, his children Stanley III and his wife Shawn, John and his wife Janet, Karen and her boyfriend Daniel Ring, Curtis and his wife Jenneil, and Joseph, and his spirited 2 year old grandson, Stanley IV. He is also survived by his siblings: Daniel and wife Delores, Bernard, Tommy and wife Debbie, Stephen and wife Lucy, Julie Quinn and husband Chuck, Annette Tomas and husband Larry. In his own words, in a recent casual autobiography Stanley wrote that all his memories from the time his wife and he had been together were what he cherished the most. He was looking forward to the next forty to fifty years with his life's partner, Judy, and the five children they did such a wonderful job of raising together. He and Judy were looking forward to their 40th wedding anniversary later this month. He was very proud of his children and it showed on his face whenever he was surrounded by his family. Stanley was a loving husband and father, a brilliant scientist, and a spiritual man devoted to God and his family. He will be deeply missed and always lovingly and fondly remembered. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 pm on Friday, August 18th, 2006 and a Rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m. at St Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 6455 Brook Park Drive, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. A funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, August 19th, 2006 at 2:00 in the afternoon. A reception will immediately follow the funeral mass at the church. Stanley will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 21st, 2006..

MENDOZA-GALVAN -- Olivia Cruz Mendoza-Galvan, age 57, a resident of Veguita, NM, passed away on August 17, 2006. She was a member of San Clemente Catholic Church. Olivia was a very loving, outgoing, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was very strong-willed and a courageous fighter. Olivia loved the outdoors, especially working in her garden. She was a wonderful cook and baker and loved to do crafts. She was known for her love of slushies and loved trying dozens of slushie flavors. The most important thing in her life was her loving family, especially her children and grandchildren, who brought her great joy. She always told her children how proud she was of them. Olivia loved her grandchildren and spending time with each and every one of them. After 21 years of fighting a long battle with Renal disease, she is now with the Lord and family members in the garden above. Olivia no longer suffers or has pain. She was preceded in death by her father, Isaac Mendoza; nephew, Jimmy Nanez; granddaughter, Marissa Rodriguez; brother, George Mendoza; nephews, Alferes Otero and Jerry Mendoza.
