Obituary for MENDOZA-GALVAN

Olivia Cruz Mendoza-Galvan, age 57, a resident of Veguita, NM, passed away on August 17, 2006. She was a member of San Clemente Catholic Church. Olivia was a very loving, outgoing, wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was very strong-willed and a courageous fighter. Olivia loved the outdoors, especially working in her garden. She was a wonderful cook and baker and loved to do crafts. She was known for her love of slushies and loved trying dozens of slushie flavors. The most important thing in her life was her loving family, especially her children and grandchildren, who brought her great joy. She always told her children how proud she was of them. Olivia loved her grandchildren and spending time with each and every one of them. After 21 years of fighting a long battle with Renal disease, she is now with the Lord and family members in the garden above. Olivia no longer suffers or has pain. She was preceded in death by her father, Isaac Mendoza; nephew, Jimmy Nanez; granddaughter, Marissa Rodriguez; brother, George Mendoza; nephews, Alferes Otero and Jerry Mendoza. Olivia is survived by her loving husband, Jose Galvan; daughter, Mary Ann Chavez and husband, Patrick; son, Joe Griego and wife, Sonia; daughter, Melissa Gutierrez and husband, Miguel; son, Eugene Griego and wife, Angel; daughter, Vanessa Galvan; grandchildren, Patricia Chavez-Garcia and husband, Cruz Garcia, Patrick Chavez, Jr., Abrianna Griego, Kassandra Griego, Makayla Griego, Joseph Griego, Isaac Rodriguez, Marcos Rodriguez, Leahanna Rodriguez, Jose Rodriguez, Gabby Gonzales, Sakou Gaye, Serenity Griego, Felicity Griego, Jose Manuel Galvan, Julian Cruz Galvan; her first great-grandbaby on the way; her mother, Marianna Mendoza; three sisters, Telesfora Silva, Josie Otero, and Loretta Fernandez and her husband, Estevan; three brothers, Guillermo "Memo" Gallegos and his wife, Liz, Gonzalo Mendoza and his wife, Priscilla, and Jerry Mendoza; and her very dear and close friend of 21 years, Emilia Ribera. She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. A viewing will be held at Romero Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 19, 2006 from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. Concluding services will be held at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church beginning with a viewing on Sunday, August 20, 2006 from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 2:30 p.m. A final visitation will take place on Monday, August 21, 2006 from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Los Lentes Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patrick Chavez, Jr., Patrick Chavez, Miguel Gutierrez, Marcos Rodriguez, John Mendoza, Cruz Garcia, Isaac Rodriguez, and Manuel Mendoza.
