ANDERSON -- Doris R. (Dotty), age 67, a resident of Albuquerque since 1970, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2005 after a lengthy illness. She was an aspiring author, a train buff and loved to ride the tour bus to Laughlin where she was always a winner. Dotty is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joseph (Andy); her children Kathleen (Kat) Anderson-Greene of Georgetown, TX, Joe E. Anderson and Michael (Mike) Anderson and wife Amy all of Albuquerque; grandchildren Liana Anderson, Sara Anderson, Jacob Greene, Kaitlyn Anderson, Michael Drew Anderson; sisters, Noni Niemeyers and husband, Bobby and Leslie Plante and husband, Thom; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dotty was preceded in death by her parents, Noah and Gert Holmes; and brother, Phillip Holmes. Visitation will be Sunday, November 13, French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd., NE, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Services will be Monday, November 14, 2005, 12:00 noon at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. ANDREAS -- Lillian M. Andreas, age 85, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 8, 2005. She was a volunteer for 11 years at Presbyterian Hospital and enjoyed golfing with her lady friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Yvonne Kathleen Kramarz. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William Andreas; son, Kenneth and wife, Janet; grandchildren, Kenneth Ray, Jeffrey S. Kramarz and wife, Melisa, Robert E. Kramarz and wife, Cynthia, Michael J. Kramarz; and special friend, Jaclyn Gillespie; two great grandchildren, Alyssa and Danielle, all of Hamilton, NJ. BACA -- Josie M. Baca, age 75, was born March 31, 1930. A resident of Albuquerque, NM, Josie passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2005 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Baca; son, Leonard Baca; granddaughter, Ashely Baca; and great granddaughter, Delilah Gurule. Josie is survived by her brother, Clyde Marquez; sisters, Jenny Zamora and Lucy Marquez; daughter-in-law, Mary Baca; sons, Steve Baca and wife, Debbie, Barney Baca, Johnny Baca and wife, Geraldine, Jody Baca and wife, Letisia; special granddaughter, Crystal Baca who she raised; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. CANNIFF -- Howard E. was born August 29, 1921 and passed away November 10, 2005 in Colorado Springs. Howard was a successful entrepreneur and a veteran of the United States Army in WWII. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann (Killday) Canniff and children, Cherie (Karl) Schmidt, of Woodland Park, Colorado, Brian (Cathy) Canniff of Coolidge, Arizona, Tracie (John) Wright of Casa Grande, Arizona, Jill (Terry) Klopfenstein of Monument, Colorado and Lori (Stu) Schreiner of Lakewood, Colorado; 31 Grandchildren; and 15 Great Grandchildren. CORBIN -- Anne Maulsby Corbin died November 5, 2005 in Sulphur, Louisiana, at the age of 94. She was born Annie Louise Maulsby, October 6, 1911 in Montgomery, Alabama, daughter of Lucy Minerva Humphrey Maulsby and Stephen Clifton Maulsby and grew up in Decatur, Alabama. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from George Peabody College for Teachers, Nashville, Tennessee in 1933, she taught for a time in a one-room schoolhouse at Talucah, Alabama. In 1935 she was offered a teaching job with the Indian Service at Sacaton, Arizona, on the Gila River Pima Indian Reservation. Sacaton was the location not only of a Bureau of Indian Affairs day school but also a government agricultural experiment farm, developing long staple Pima cotton. It was there that she met Gordon M. Corbin, her future husband. Anne enjoyed teaching but also desired to be a fashion designer. In 1936 she went to New York to study fashion design & illustration at Traphagen Institute. After a year she returned to the Southwest and was assigned to the elementary school at Laguna Pueblo in New Mexico. She and Gordon were married November 25, 1937 in Albuquerque. She completed the semester at Laguna then joined Gordon in Sacaton, AZ., where their children Nancy, Kate, and Steve were subsequently born. The family lived in Coolidge, AZ, Tucson, AZ, and Flagstaff, AZ between 1945 and 1953. In 1954 Gordon transferred to the US Forest Service Regional Headquarters in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Anne continued to teach in the Albuquerque Public Schools until her retirement in 1975. In New Mexico she returned to her love for painting. She was an active member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society for many years and an award winner for her New Mexico landscapes. She was active in AAUW's watercolor group and a member of the Methodist then the Unitarian Church. Anne Corbin is survived by her son James Stephen Corbin and his wife Charlotte Marquez Corbin, of Metairie, Louisiana; daughters Nancy Corbin, of Alameda, California and Kate Corbin Duncan, of Scottsdale, AZ and Seattle, WA; and grandson Gavin Duncan, his wife Kelly, and great-grandson, Milo Duncan, all of San Leandro, California. Anne's ashes will be placed beside her husband's in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Memorials in her name may be made to The American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association to further research.

DEXTER -- Major Henry Vaughan Dexter, Jr. (Dex), 85, beloved husband of Mary E. Dexter of Albuquerque, died at Albuquerque Regional Medical Center on Friday, November 11, 2005. Son of Colonel Henry V. Dexter and Maude Ellis Dexter, Dex was born in Chattanooga, TN on June 21, 1920. He is survived by his first wife, Opal Otto of Huntsville, AL; and was preceded in death by their daughter, Diane Wrenn and his second wife, Grace Dexter. He is survived by his grandson, Cosmo Wrenn and wife, Lisa of Memphis, TN; great-grandson, Cameron Wrenn; brother, Colonel George Dexter and wife, Kathleen, eight nieces and nephews of Albuquerque, Dixon, and Penasco, NM, Anchorage, AK, and Los Angeles, CA; and daughter-in-law, Betty Reed James of Oregon. Henry enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1939. He was commissioned through the Infantry Officers Candidate School in 1944 and was stationed in Japan and Trieste, Italy, during the occupation after World War II. Other overseas service included Korea and a second tour in Japan. He retired from the Army as a Major in 1961 after 22 years of service. After retirement, he went to work for the Atomic Energy Commission (later the Department of Energy) in Albuquerque, NM as a courier of nuclear materials retiring after 25 years of additional service to the United States Government. GARCIA -- Michael David Garcia, age 22, a resident of Albuquerque, was called home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 9, 2005. Michael lived in faith everyday and will be remembered as a prayer warrior. His compassion and love touched the lives of all who knew him. Michael graduated from Valley High School in May 2002. GILBERT HARVEY -- Jeanette Roxanne Gilbert Harvey, daughter of Col. Raymond H. Gilbert Jr. (deceased) and Gwendolyn Jones Gilbert, died October 16, 2005 of ovarian cancer. She was 53 years old. Jeanette graduated from Highland High School, ENMU, and received her degree in Medical Technology from UNM. She is survived by adopted daughter, Rachel Chuhua Gilbert Harvey, age 5, formerly of China; husband of one year, Steven Harvey; brother, Raymond H. Gilbert III and wife, Barbara; nephews and niece, Danny, Debbie, and Steven Gilbert. Jeanette spent three years working in Abu Dhabi before settling in Denver at St. Joseph's Hospital for the last 20 years. Jeanette enjoyed world travel, her lifelong dream of motherhood with daughter Rachel, and church activities.

GUNN -- Gordon MacKay Gunn, Jr., a proud Scot and a Leader of Men, passed away on November 1, 2005. Gordon's lifelong motto was "If you want it done, see Gunn!" This deeply spiritual achiever was born to Gordon MacKay Gunn and Ella Fern Severe Gunn on June 25, 1913 in El Paso, Texas. Gordon was an extremely energetic and motivated achiever from a very young age. He active in Boy Scouts of America, earning his Eagle Scout badge. Besides his academic and Scouting excellence, Gordon had a large El Paso Times newspaper paper route, which he threw from his bicycle. Working part time while attending Austin High School, he served as President of his senior class, an officer in the National Honor Society, manager of the football team and athletic letterman, an officer in ROTC, and was voted Most Popular Boy. Graduating in 1932 from Austin High, Gordon attended El Paso College of Mines (now UTEP) and was a Cheerleader in 1934 and '35. Gordon went to work for Standard Oil Company after college. In 1937, he married Barbara Ann (Babs) Carson, an El Paso Debutante and daughter of Edgar E. Carson and Edith Roberts Carson. Gordon and Babs and had two children, Gordon M. Gunn III, born in 1939, and Karen Elizabeth Gunn, born in 1941. Gordon enlisted in the U.S. Army in early 1942 as a Private, was quickly accepted to Officers Candidate School where he also excelled. As an Ordnance officer in the Pacific Theater of WWII, Gordon advanced rapidly to the rank of Captain and Company Commander. After the war, the Gunns' moved to Albuquerque in 1946 with Standard Oil Company, where Gordon served as Standard's first New Mexico District Manager. In 1947, Gordon purchased a Chevron Service Station at 921 E. Central, which he ran until 1949, when he decided to try insurance as a career. In 1951, he became a distributor for DuBois Chemical Company, and then later for Turco Products, Inc. in industrial and institutional cleaning compounds and chemicals. Gordon remained with Turco until his retirement in 1979. His positions with Turco took them from Albuquerque to San Diego in 1963, to San Pedro in 1965, and San Francisco in 1968. Upon Gordon's retirement in 1979, he and Babs returned to their beloved Albuquerque, where they truly lived "happily every after." Babs passed away September 7, 2005, and Gordon followed her just seven weeks later, passing Tuesday November 1, 2005 at the age of 92. Gordon and Babs, in 1955, were founding members of Christ Methodist Church in Albuquerque. They were extremely active in churches wherever they lived. They joined Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church in 1979, and were very instrumental in its growth. Gordon and Babs were admired and respected for the many acts of caring and giving they bestowed on so many for so long. In 1980, Gordon was appointed by the NM State Engineer to form and lead an ad-hoc committee for the reform of the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, where he was successful in removing institutional properties, including churches, from their taxation. MRGCD was realigned to cause their services and assessments to be fair and justifiable to all residents, businesses and institutions within their venue. This effort took Gordon more than 12 years to accomplish. His son Gordon III and wife Jeannie of Albuquerque, and his daughter Karen Thompson of Sedona, Arizona, survive Gordon. Ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, all of whom Gordon adored, also survive him. Memorial services will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church, 1801 Montano NW on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. David McConnaughy, a close and long-time friend, and founding Pastor of Shepherd of the Valley, along with Tom Hart, Pastor of SOTV, will conduct Gordon's services. David Poling, former interim Pastor of SOTV will present Gordon's eulogy. There will be a reception at the church following the service. HARL -- Don Harl, Artist, 73, passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 8, 2005. Don Harl was an accomplished artist, and attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois. He was a member of the Illinois Watercolor Association, the New Mexico Watercolor Association, the New Mexico Pastel Society, the New Mexico Plein Air Society, and an official United States Coast Guard Artist. His representational paintings were accepted into numerous exhibits, juried shows and owned by many individual collectors in the midwestern, southeastern and southwestern United States. An Illinois Valley native, born July 5, 1932, son of Perry and Laura Harl of Peru, Illinois, relocated to Los Lunas, New Mexico in 2003, where he resided near his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Manuel Otero. He is survived by his sisters, Kay and her husband, Bill Arkins of Oglesby, IL, and Linda and her husband, Bill Fitch of Morton, IL; three children, Dr. Kristi Lane and her husband, Terry Schwarze of Winona MN, Michelle and her husband, Manuel Otero of Los Lunas, NM, and Scott and his wife, Barb Harl of Peru, IL, and their respective families. HARRISON -- Vernon D. Harrison, born June 18, 1921 in Otter Creek, Oklahoma and a long time resident of Santa Fe, died Monday, November 7th, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie Mae Hunter and Albert Roscoe Harrison; his wife, Josephine Britton; a brother, Jerry Harrison and a sister, Virginia Harrison. Vernon is survived by his only child, Jo Ann Swinson and her husband, Derek; step-grandsons, Brian Swinson and his wife, Suzette, Kevin Swinson and his wife, Julie; step-great granddaughters, Emily and Sara Swinson; his sister, Geneiva Peck; his brothers, Darrel Harrison and his wife, Diana, Denny Harrison and his wife, Dorothea and Allan Harrison; plus several nieces and nephews. HETES -- Helga Elisabeth Brigitte, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away at her family home. She was called home to her savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, November 9, 2005, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Helga is the daughter of Robert and Magdalena (nee Klein) Schoenberner and was born in Radschuetz, Silesia on Wednesday, June 24, 1942. Her parents and her sister, Barbara Gerber, of Bayreuth, Germany, preceded her in death. Helga is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, Ronald A. Hetes; son, Ronald R. Hetes and wife, Debra; daughter, Ylaine R. Hetes; grandchildren, Jade M. Hetes, Michael A. Hetes, and Nichole E. Hetes, all of Rio Rancho, NM; sister, Regina Patzer and husband, Floyd of Jeffersonville, IN; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and associates after a 30 year career in the food service industry, most recently at NM Bakery Service Co. After retirement, Helga volunteered her time and artistic talents at the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School. Helga was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and derived great joy from doting upon others. Helga was a humble, charitable and devout Catholic who always put others ahead of herself. She had a genuinely warm smile and pleasant hello for all of those she met. Helga would light up a room, always had a melodic tone in her voice and a twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes. She was a true follower of Jesus Christ, never questioned her faith, and without fail, she would recognize the positive in any situation. All who knew and loved her will sorely miss Helga, our Kolibri, "alles ist klar, Hans." HOFF -- Carleigh M. Hoff, age 55, lifelong artist/teacher/musician/writer/ dancer and remarkable friend to many, died Saturday evening November 5th at home from complications of multiple myeloma cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends singing her on her journey with her own songs. She graduated from Scripps College and went on to attain a Masters in Design from UCLA. Her works in a wide spectrum of media first ranged from 3D environments, headdresses, and masks and shifted to costumes for dance, film, and theatre. She was later a librarian, and wrote and created children's literature and illustration. Her work most recently was in the realm of figurative sculpture. Residences throughout her life included PA, NJ, TN, West Hollywood and Santa Barbara CA, Providence RI, East Hartford and Hamden CT. Her vast creative energies eventually wove together into doll art, for which she has won awards and had articles written. Many children and adults have been inspired over the years by her art classes and camps, and doll-making workshops. Much of Carleigh's figurative sculpture can be viewed at her website at greenspiritstudio.com. At 4:00 p.m. Sunday November 13 there will be a celebration of Carleigh's life at the First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle NE at Comanche. Following the service of remembrances and music will be a reception with food, music, and folk dancing. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the humanitarian activities of someone close to Carleigh's heart, the spiritual leader and "hugging saint" known as Amma (see amma.org for more information). HUFF -- Charles Edward Huff, Sr. 77, passed away on the afternoon of Friday, November 11, 2005 at his Albuquerque home with his family. He is survived by his wife, Annette. Charles was born on February 15, 1928 in Blackwell, Oklahoma, son of Charles Franklin Huff and Thelma Moore Huff. He was married to Francis Annette Stone on October 15, 1950 in Oklahoma City. Charles "Charlie" worked for W&W Steel for 35 years and then Albuquerque Auto Auction after retirement. His interests were horses, OU football, painting, tatting and collecting coins. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by three sons, Charles Edward Huff, Jr., Timothy Randall Huff, Daniel Henry Huff; daughter, Pamela Jo Blanton; 8 grandchildren, Jason, Zach, Vicky, Matthew, Steven, Charlie, Gabriela and Abigail; three sisters, Ruth Janz, Betty Belt, and Connie Huff, all of Oklahoma City. He leaves behind his prized English bulldog, Boliver. JONES -- Craig S. Jones, born in Ola, AR on February 27, 1924, passed away on November 10, 2005 with his family by his side. He was the son of Emma and Robert L. Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Robert L. Jones; and his son, David L. Jones who passed away recently. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Regina V. Jones; daughter, Karen M. Jones; and son, Jeffrey N. Jones of Albuquerque; and sister, Mary G. Timmins of Everett, WA. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with 30 years of service and 19 years with the U.S. Postal Service. His most memorable assignments were serving in the Presidential Squadron three terms at Bolling Field, Washington, DC. Craig loved to fish on the San Juan River and hunt in the southern part of New Mexico. Reading history and Western books was his favorite pastime. He was a member of Shrine of St. Bernadette Church where he was an usher for many years. He also was a member of the Disabled American Veterns. MARES -- Raymond Vincent Mares, 83, passed away quietly, Monday, November 7, 2005. He was born Thursday, May 18, 1922 in Albuquerque, a son of Nicholas and Abelina Mares. He married Sadie Chavez, June 17, 1946. MCDANIEL -- E. Charles (Charlie) McDaniel, 76, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2005, at his home in Albuquerque, surrounded by his family. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He was a kind and patient person, loving the outdoors, hunting, lake and stream fishing, gardening, and waterskiing. He also enjoyed playing cards with close friends. Charlie is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 54 years; his son, Charles; his daughter, Elizabeth Briganti and husband, Craig; and grandchildren, Courtney and Brandon. He is also survived by his brother, Michael; special friends and neighbors. Soon after getting married, he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army in the Medical Supply Division, receiving commendations for his efforts and suggestions. After his honorable discharge, he started a small business, Duke City Hobbies, owning it for almost forty years, eventually becoming one of the largest hobby shops in the southwest, until his retirement in 1991. A Memorial Service and celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2005, at his home.

SHAFER -- Ray L. Shafer died peacefully on November 8, 2005. Ray was born August 7, 1921 in Sunbury, PA. Preceding him in death were his parents, Lee R. Shafer and Grace Woodling Shafer; a son who died at birth; wife, Nora Catherine Rommel; and two infant grandsons, Jeffrey and Christopher. Surviving are his wife, Naomi Bingaman Kinney Shafer; brother, Alvin Shafer and wife, Harriett of Cambridge Springs, PA; and sister, Dianna and husband, Keith of Lewisburg, PA; daughters, Nancy Cannon of San Jose, CA and Donna Burroughs of Twain Harte, CA; stepson, Kenneth Russell of Sherman, CT; grandchildren, Michael Ray Cannon, Carla Rae Weeks and husband, Ron, Kimberly Ann Cottrell and husband, Dan, Katherine Lee Adkins and husband, Ford; great-grandchildren, R. J. and Ashley Weeks, Brittany and Courtney Cottrell, Austin and Chase Adkins; numerous nieces and nephews. During WWII Ray worked in Africa repairing airplanes for Mcdonnell Douglas. After the war he worked for the Glen L. Martin Co. in Baltimore, MD and Littleton, CO and then Lockheed Corporation in Minot, ND and Sunnyvale, CA where he was a mechanical engineer in the Aerospace Industry. Ray was a volunteer at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. Julio was born April 30, 1927, to Sabino Streppone and Maria Cuzzinitti Streppone in Manhattan, N.Y. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a Navy veteran and loved to play poker. TILK -- Margaret "Muncie" Tilk passed away November 5, 2005 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was preceeded in death by her husband, John Tilk. Muncie was an only child and was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio by her parents, Theresa and Alexander Sass. Surviving are a daughter, Judith, and son-in-law, David Stoops of Albuquerque and a son, David, and daughter-in-law, Patricia Tilk of Medina, Ohio. There are also two grandsons, David and Jason and three great-grandchildren, David, Sarah and Mathew of Cleveland, Ohio. Muncie was active in singing, dancing and acting in many Operettas with a theater group in Cleveland. She also did a great deal of performing at The Vineyard Retirement Community where she lived. Her first love was her family. She and John had moved from Cleveland to Albuquerque in 1985 and he passed away in 1986. A brief memorial service will be held in The Vineyard Clubhouse at 6118 Edith Blvd. N.E. on Saturday, November 12th at 2:00 P.M. VILLANUEVA -- Vincent Carl Villanueva (Vinnie), died peacefully on Friday with his family at his side at the home he was born in 62 years ago. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A veteran, he served in the Navy. He was a member of the Albuquerque Police Department for 10 years as a Patrolman, Detective, and in Internal Affairs. He has been on numerous boards throughout the years, most recently the State Police Board, Corrections Commission and State Fair Board. He was currently a Lobbyist for various private firms. WILKINS -- Kenneth Charles Wilkins, 61, a resident of Albuquerque, died unexpectedly Thursday, November 10, 2005. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Edie McCormick Wilkins. She was the love of his life. He was the heart and soul of hers. They were truly one. You never saw one without the other. They were the living example of a couple who were so in love. They knew the blessings they had shared in this wonderful life together. Ken was a loving father and grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Ken was a man who showed generosity and helpfulness, without seeking recognition. He was both a storyteller, whether they be tall or short, and a very compassionate listener. He's listened to family and many friends over the years and tried to help in any way he could. Ken loved witty jokes, puns and "daddy-humor." He liked to tease and was always ready for laughter. Ken was an adventurous soul and with his wife, traveled far and wide; he never met a stranger. Ken was the Music Man who sang in barbershop quartets, had a song for every situation, and danced to his own music! Ken played football in high school and continued his love of sports by being a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears and Bulls, Green Bay Packers and Boston Celtics.
