BARROW -- Robert G. Barrow, Sr., 91, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2005. He was born on May 20, 1914 in Dresden, MO. He grew up and went through school in Calhoun, MO. He served in the United States Navy for twenty years and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He is an Albuquerque Public Schools Retiree and longtime member of La Mesa Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his son, Robert G. Barrow, Jr.; four grandchildren, Nusara Kast and husband, Brian, Narong Sara Phon, Perry Barrow, and Ranee Barrow; two great-granddaughters, Keana and Jadean Kast; one great-grandson, Alan Sara Phon; and former daughter-in-law, Pat Barrow. BROWN -- Harold "Pete" Brown, age 98, of Albuquerque, died Friday, October 14, 2005 at a local nursing home. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Bernitsky and husband, Anthony of Albuquerque, NM; son-in-law, Donald Anderson of El Paso, TX.; grandchildren, Doctors David and wife, Gay Bernitsky, Ann and husband, Steve Beddingfield all of Albuquerque, NM; Judy Campos and husband, Col. Mario Campos of San Antonio, TX.; Bill Anderson of El Paso, TX.; Bob Anderson and wife, Adriana of El Paso, TX. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Will, Alex, and Laura Bernitsky; Carly and Michael Beddingfield; Maryann and Mario, Jr. Campos. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Brown; daughter, Sandra Anderson; and grandson, Steven Bernitsky. Mr. Brown managed movie theaters in Albuquerque and was also employed by the Albuquerque Publishing Company. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Club and a member of Central United Methodist Church. DENNISON -- Esther V. Dennison, 99, a resident of Albuquerque since 1926, died Saturday, October 15, 2005. She is survived by her brothers, Charles Hobson and wife, Rita and Richard Hobson and wife, Wilma, all of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law, Zelma Hobson of Long Beach, CA and Lynn Hobson of Anchorage, AK; her very best friend, Ethel Hoshor; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dennison was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Dennison. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She worked as a beautician for many years. DENTON -- Darrell Drew of Collinsville, OK (69) born April 1, 1936, died in the early morning of October 14th 2005, after a short illness. Darrell went to be with Our Lord. Darrell was a Husband and Good Dad, an avid Horseman and was in the RV sales for the last 30 years. His was preceded in death by his parents Drew & Glades Denton of Albuquerque, NM. GARCIA -- Eutimia O. Garcia (Timmie), 81, August 6, 1924 - October 15, 2005, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away on Saturday. She was greeted into the loving arms of her mother and father, Jose David and Manuela Olguin; her grandson, Richard J.; and her son, Richard McNeil. Eutimia is survived by her daughter, Susan McNeil; sister, Mary Jojola of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Dennis Olguin and wife, Evelyn of Barstow, CA and Nick Olguin and wife, Lorraine of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews; honorary sisters, Sarah, Carolyn and June; honorary grandchildren, Chris and Iona. Eutimia was a former employee of APS. She worked at Rio Grande High School from 1963 - 1966 in data processing, at West Mesa High School from 1966 - 1983, data processing and registrar. Upon retirement she always expressed that it was the students she missed the most. Susan and family would like to acknowledge the love, support and constant care she received from the "Guardian Angels" of the Presbyterian Infusion Center. With their care she was able to maintain a better quality of life. GUTIERREZ -- Carol Denise Gutierrez went home to be with the Lord on October 15, 2005. She was born on November 16, 1980. HENDERSON -- John M. Henderson, age 78, of Albuquerque, NM, formerly of Thoreau, NM, died Saturday evening after a long battle with cancer. He was born February 18, 1927 in North Fairfield, OH. John is survived by his wife, Nina Henderson; two sons, John Jr. of Nephi, UT and Jeffrey of Albuquerque, NM; a step-daughter, Lynn Cline of Bellevue, OH; and a step-son, Eric Cline of Woodbridge, Virginia; three sisters, Ella Mae Formoso of Arizona, Grace Hare of Ohio, and Christine Yenchi of Pennsylvania. John is also survived by three grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; two step-granddaughters, nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews. Mr. Henderson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After his service years, he served at various jobs, mainly truck driving. Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Luella (Smith) Henderson; three brothers, Lowell Jr., Richard Henderson, and Donald Henderson; and a sister, Mildred (Henderson) Boyd. HOWARD -- Madeline M. Howard, age 76, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 16 years, and a former resident of California, Texas, and Utah, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2005 in Presbyterian Hospital. Born in Utah on February 2, 1929, she was the only child of Harold and Helen Mosley. Madeline spent most of her young life and school years in El Paso, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Howard whom she married on March 22, 1952, and her parents. Madeline was a life time member of Harmony Chapter #244, Order of the Eastern Star, El Paso Texas. JOHNSON -- Anne H. Johnson, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2005. Anne was born on May 1, 1913 in Fayetteville, TN. She grew up in Huntsville, AL. After high school she graduated from the University of Tennessee-Memphis with a degree in nursing. She married Hensley S. Johnson, M.D. on February 18, 1940. Her husband was serving on active duty in the U.S. Army. Her next twenty years were spent as a military wife, mother, homemaker, and school nurse. During this period of time her family lived on various military posts including overseas in Japan, Austria and Germany. After her husband's retirement from the Army her family moved to Albuquerque in 1961 where her husband went into medical practice with his brother. Anne had a real gift for hospitality and made everyone feel welcome. Her home was always a haven for her friends and neighbors. She was a real people person. Her hobbies were reading, collecting cook books and cooking. She enjoyed baking cakes, pies and cookies and delivering them to her friends. Anne knew all of her friend's birthdays and what their favorite foods were. She loved going to the farmer's market, buying fruits and vegetables, and sharing them with friends. Anne had a wonderful sense of humor, a happy and gregarious personality, and a beautiful smile. She was a devoted wife and loving mom. Anne was a Christian and she lived out her faith by being kind to everyone. She truly believed it was more blessed to give than to receive. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Carole Ernst and husband Larry of Albuquerque; sister, Midge Clisson of Huntsville, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Anne was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Hensley S. Johnson; a son, Stephen Johnson; and brothers, James B. Hopper and Charles E. Hopper. KENNEDY -- M. L. "Ken" Kennedy died unexpectedly at home, at the age of 79, on October 13, 2005. Ken was a retired General Contractor and built many houses in and around the Los Lunas area. He was known for the quality of his workmanship. He is survived by his wife, Coralie "Cody" Kennedy; daughter, Gay Lea Fotheringham (Dean); and sons, Gary (Becky), Steven (Dorene), and Terry (fiancee Sarah Youtz); 17 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Nyla Joy Guernsey (Arden); and numerous nieces and nephews. Ken loved his family and was beloved by them. He liked to fish and travel. He loved people and never knew a stranger. After his retirement he passed around his "business cards" to everyone he met. They were amusing and gave people a laugh. His services will be held in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Los Lunas on James Street at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2005. LUCERO -- PEDRO LUCERO, age 75, of Santa Fe, died on Saturday, October 15, 2005. He was preceded in death by his father, Custulo Lucero; mother, Martina Lucero; his sister, Beatrice Tapia; and Paul Anaya, Jr. He was born in Pena Blanca, NM on September 6, 1930. MARTINEZ -- Octavio Martinez, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, October 16, 2005. He was born Tuesday, September 25, 1928 in Houston, TX to Octavio and Cruz Morales Martinez. He is survived by his mother, Cruz; his children, Teresa, Michael, David Lee, Jacqueline, Jerrilene; and his grandchildren, Justin, David Michael, and Matthew. Octavio was preceded by his father, Octavio; his brother, Rudy; and his sister, Alma. He graduated from UCLA in 1956 with a BS in Engineering. Through the course of his career he was a successful engineer and executive becoming a CEO of several high tech manufacturing corporations. He was a loving father of five children. Octavio enjoyed cooking and politics. He lived life fully, with a sense of pragmatism, humor, and kindness. Octavio retired to Albuquerque in 1999. MCCROSSEN -- Preston G. McCrossen, 72, died Saturday night October 15, 2005. Born May 12, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, but raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Preston graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1951 and from the University of New Mexico in 1955. After starting out as a chemist in the labs at Los Alamos, Preston's long and active career included establishing Albuqerque's Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, serving as a Peace Corps Director in the Kingdom of Tonga, and working as a consultant to many Native American development agencies. He is survived by his wife Macon; daughter, Alexis and husband, Adam Herring of Dallas, TX; daughter, Tamara and husband, Nate Orr of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter Annie Herring; brother, Eric and wife, Shirley of Albuquerque; brother, Stanley and wife, Zelda of Las Vegas, NM; five nieces; a nephew; three grand-nieces; two grand-nephews; two sets of in-laws; and many friends and admirers. NELSON -- Wade Nelson, 54, of Albuquerque, NM, died Saturday, October 15, 2005 at home. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Rullestad of Boone, IA; two nieces, Kelly Hinrich of Altoona, IAand Lisa Quam of Boone, IA. He is also survived by his son, Jeremy Nelson and a granddaughter, Emma C. Nelson, both of Albuquerque, NM. Wade inspired deep and lasting relationships and was blessed with a large extended family of friends. Wade was the General Manager of Karl Malone Toyota in Albuquerque for many years. His interests included golf, tennis, scuba diving, and collecting electronic gadgets. Wade was very involved with many community projects and research and treatment of various illnesses. PAGE -- Lillian Haynie Page, age 91, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2005, at her home and surrounded by her loving family. Lillian was born in Albuquerque, NM on August 26, 1914 to Ethel McCrary Haynie and James Henry Haynie who met on a wagon train to New Mexico in the early 1900s. Her grandparents were Samuel and Tenny C. McCrary. Lillian attended school in New Mexico, Arizona, and California, graduating from high school in Fresno, CA. She attended Fresno State College for one year before transferring to the University of New Mexico, where she received her BA in 1935. Lillian received her MA from the University of California, Berkeley in 1938 and continued her education at the University of Virginia. Lillian first taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Mcgaffey, NM where she taught 39 children from grades 1 to 8. She later taught school in Gallup, NM, California, Texas, Virginia, and Italy. Lillian became an Army wife in 1938 and was with her husband, Gordon Benjamin Page, and her oldest son, James, at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked on December 7, 1941. She traveled widely with her husband and five sons and especially enjoyed their four years living in Italy. There she learned to speak Italian, studied the accordion, and refined her Italian cooking, which she fondly pursued for the remainder of her life. She and her husband, Gordon B. Page, reared five sons, James Gordon Page, Michael Lynn Page, Christopher Lee Page, Lochlin Scott Page, and Jonathan Tolliver Page. In 1970, after Gordon's retirement as a Colonel in the regular Army Corps of Engineers, they returned to Albuquerque where Lillian became very active in the Senior Centers when Palo Duro first opened in 1974. She was a wife, mother, teacher, ceramicist, potter, weaver, knitter, and affectionate role model. She loved her family dearly and the greatest joy of her life was being with them and her friends. She passed on her love of beauty, music, flowers and life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher, and her husband, Gordon. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, Willow, Pepper, and James. A Memorial Service will be held at Thursday, October 20, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave. NE. ROBINSON -- Dixie Lee (Skidmore) - Born on January 8th, 1931 in Beaver City, Oklahoma, passed away in her home in Los Lunas, NM on Saturday, October 15, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. Dixie was 74 years old. Dixie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charley Robinson; four brothers; and her parents. She is survived by her five daughters, Tanis Harbers and husband, David of Albuquerque; Kathryn Day and her husband, Loyd of Gallup; Johnell Horner and her husband, Ted of Las Cruces; Dixie Lowe and her husband, Michael of Albuquerque and Shawn Gray and her partner, Vincent of Alto. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Tecia Baretinicich, Sharalee Rae Hudson, Lance Major, Aldis Bettis, Dixie Turner, Jason Horner, Charley Willis, Justin Gray and Jerrad Gray; and her twenty four great-grandchildren. Dixie is survived by her three sisters, Marilyn Turpin of Albuquerque, Sonja Smith and her husband, Larry of Belen, Rosemary Bohannon and her husband, Herb of Albuquerque and one brother Tom Skidmore of Belen. Dixie and her girls received special loving support from Charley's twin Arley Robinson and wife Pauline of California. Graveside services are to be announced.

STRABA -- Margaret King Straba, Registered Nurse (RN), 86, passed away on October 14, 2005, after open heart surgery at a local hospital, with her husband of 58 years at her side. She was born July 6, 1919, in Owosso, MI, the only daughter of Charles Oscar King and Christine Seiss. Margaret will be remembered for her contributions to Vocational Education in Nursing and for her strength, inspiration, humor, and lively personality. She was always the "life of the party". She started her career in Nursing in 1938 as one of the first nurse's aides at Owosso Memorial Hospital, in Owosso, MI, followed by her three years at St. Mary's School of Nursing, in Saginaw, MI. During WWII she was a Civilian Cadet Nurse Supervisor at Providence Hospital, Detroit, MI. After the war, she returned to her hometown and worked as a surgical nurse at the Owosso Memorial Hospital. She was a Charter Member of Toastmistress Chapter in Saginaw, MI, where she was president. As an active member of the NM State Vocational Association she designed the first medical slogan for the NM State High Schools in the 1970's. During that time she supervised the first class of Licensed Practical Nurse's (LPN) at the Albuquerque Veterans Hospital. Later she was the Clinical Supervisor of the Career Enrichment Center Career Ladder for nurses' aides at TVI. She also enjoyed her employment at the UNM Student Health Center, and volunteered with the TVI GED and Second Language Program. Nogales, Arizona was the setting of her marriage to Robert J. Straba, who was then attending the University of Arizona. Accompanying them at their marriage was bridesmaid Doris and bestman Alex Capitan of Green Valley, AZ. They have made their home in Albuquerque for the past 45 years. They are the parents of one son, James, who is currently working as an Advisor for the Iraq Reconstruction Management Team in Baghdad, and four daughters, Martha, Dorothy, Lori, and Rosemary (whom are all nurses in Albuquerque). She is survived by generations of beautiful children, including 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. One might say her motto was "Make em laugh, make em laugh!" Margaret's Patron Saint Theresa said, "I will spend my heaven doing good on earth." A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper Ave., NW. In lieu of flowers, Do Something Good for Someone Else. TORRES -- Antonio "Tony" M. Torres was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 16, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Catalina Torres; a brother, Jose Torres; and a sister, Rita Smith. Mr. Torres was a veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW #401. He retired from Albuquerque Public Schools as an educator after many years of service. Tony loved sports and especially loved to play golf with his brothers. He truly loved all of his family and friends very much. Mr. Torres is survived by his beloved wife, Perla Torres; brothers, Gilbert Torres and wife, Alice, Charlie Torres and wife, Patsy, and Ted Torres; sisters, Emily Bassilla, Mary Torres and Lily Sarracino; sister-in-law, Martha Torres, all of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Glen Smith of Farmington, NM; and many nieces and nephews. A Rosary for Mr. Torres will be recited on Tuesday evening, October 18, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 also at Our Lady of Fatima where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. TORREZ -- David M. Torrez, age 54, passed away Friday, October 14, 2005. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque, he was a gifted musician, played in several local bands, and loved the great outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Elena Torrez; children, David Jr., Dominic, Jonathan, and Monica Torrez, all of Albuquerque, Nicole Fuentes and Michael Griego, both of California; father, Alfredo Torrez; one brother; five sisters; numerous other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. Services will be held at San Jose de Duranes Mission, 2110 Los Luceros Rd. NW, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2005.
