Preston G. McCrossen, 72, died Saturday night October 15, 2005. Born May 12, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, but raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Preston graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1951 and from the University of New Mexico in 1955. After starting out as a chemist in the labs at Los Alamos, Preston's long and active career included establishing Albuqerque's Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, serving as a Peace Corps Director in the Kingdom of Tonga, and working as a consultant to many Native American development agencies. He is survived by his wife Macon; daughter, Alexis and husband, Adam Herring of Dallas, TX; daughter, Tamara and husband, Nate Orr of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter Annie Herring; brother, Eric and wife, Shirley of Albuquerque; brother, Stanley and wife, Zelda of Las Vegas, NM; five nieces; a nephew; three grand-nieces; two grand-nephews; two sets of in-laws; and many friends and admirers.
