ALDERETE -- David Alderete Sr. died Thursday, June 30, 2005 at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife, Angelita Alderete; six children, Frances Marquez, and husband Loui, Marlene Saenz and husband Jesus, David Alderete Jr. and wife Vicki, Frank David Alderete and wife Lorraine, Dolly Aragon and husband Alvin, and Carla Baca and husband Joey; two brothers, Ernest Alderete and wife Rosalie, and Manuel Alderete and wife Carolyn; two sisters, Helen Lopez and husband Benny, and Lupe Alday and husband Martin; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Louie Marquez, Alfonzo Rodriguez Jr., David Alderete Jr., Alvin Aragon, David Domonic Alderete and Frankie Alderete Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Alderete, Daniel Aragon, Christopher Aragon, Eric Alderete, Joe Ray Alderete, Sonny Ray, Luna, and Benjamin L. Alderete. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at the San Jose Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m., Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church. CAFARELLI -- Pete R. Cafarelli, a resident of Albuquerque since 1989, died Saturday, July 2, 2005. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Dorothy F. Cafarelli; daughter, Doreen C. Dowling of Moriarty; son, Peter M. Cafarelli and wife, Susan K. of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren, David M. Dowling, Jenni A. Phillip and husband, Scott; and many loving friends. Pete graduated from Trinidad High School in 1935. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a WWII veteran and was awarded the Purple Heart at the Battle of Iwo Jima. His hobbies included playing pool, cards, bowling, golf, and coaching Little League baseball. Graveside services will be held at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery in Trinidad, CO. HENNING -- Vernon O. Henning, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Saturday, July 2, 2005. He is survived by his sons, Vernon O.M. Henning and wife, Lady Anne and William J. Henning and wife, Virginia; daughter, Corinne Henning-Sachs and husband, Marvin; grandchildren, Amarryn Huelsmann and husband, Kevin, Sydney Henning, Kevin Henning, Jonathan Sachs and wife, Pamela, David Sachs, Molly Sachs and Kimberley Bourget and husband, Vaughn; great-grandchildren, Chloe Sachs and Ethan Sachs; sisters, Marjorie Kirk, Liz Wingate, and Miriam Ludwig; brother, Robert Henning; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margherita M. Henning. Vernon was born in Bazine, KS, on November 6, 1917 to the Rev. Otto and Hilda Henning. He was an Army chaplain in WWII and worked for Sandia Labs for 37 years. Margherita and Vernon were married July 26, 1946 in Vienna, Austria. He was a devoted, loving, and humble man of great strength and character. Services will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m., at the French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. KENT -- Vann Otis, born Sept. 10, 1950 in Albuq., NM. Vann Kent, Sole Proprietor of Vann O.Kent Electrical Contracting since 1985, died in his home of a heart attack on Saturday, July 2, 2005. He was a thoughtful loving husband and a kind, understanding and reliable man. Vann was wise and tolerant with friends and relatives. He had an innocence about him. Everyone liked Vann and knew him as a reasonable man. He was a member of the Shriners and the Masons. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; mother, Anne Glasgow; brothers Lyle and Kevin Kent and Randy Prater; sister, Alice Margaret Moody and many dear friends. Services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at Blake Road Baptist Church.

MARTINEZ -- Albina C. Martinez went home to be with the Lord on July 1, 2005 at the age of 69. She was born on September 24, 1935 in New Mexico. She is survived by her sons, Michael Martinez and wife, Isabel, Jerry D. Martinez, Anthony Martinez and George Martinez; daughter, Betty Salas and husband, Ernie; brothers, Leo Vigil, Orlando Vigil and wife, Gloria, Amador Vigil and wife, Mary and Joe Vigil and wife, Bernie; sisters, Adelita Carrillo and husband, Manuel, Mena Vigil and husband, Juan, Eva McCoy and husband, Tito and Georgia Trujillo and husband, Sam; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Albina will be deeply missed by all. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening, July 5, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Refreshments will be served following the Rosary in the Celebration of Life Room also at Garcia Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning, July 6, 2005, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Anne Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. MATURO -- Anthony "Sarge" Maturo, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2005. Sarge was born on September 6, 1914 in Brooklyn, New York. He was a resident of Rio Rancho, NM since 1977. Sarge was a very patriotic and wonderful man who will be deeply missed. MCLAUGHLIN -- James Valentine McLaughlin. Our Dear Father & Husband, James Valentine McLaughlin known by many as "MAC", has gone on to be with the LORD. Dad was born in Peoria, Illinois on August 4th, 1911 and passed away peacefully on July 2nd, 2005. He is survived by his wife Ruth McLaughlin and four of his six children, Jay McLaughlin and wife, Sonny, Sandy McLaughlin and wife, Jackie, Patti Hykes and husband, Rik Hykes and Robert McLaughlin and wife, Diana. He had 25 grandchildren and many, many great grandchildren as well as three great-great grandchildren. SANDOVAL -- Mrs. Manuelita Sandoval, 88, a resident of Albuquerque passed away at home on July 1, 2005. Mrs. Sandoval is survived by two sisters- in- law, Melba De la O and Esther Martinez; brother-in-law, Robert Sandoval and wife, Celia; four nephews; and six nieces. Mrs. Sandoval was a member of the Catholic church and past member of 3rd Order of St. Francis. A visitation for Mrs. Sandoval will be Tuesday evening from 6:30pm until 7:00pm at St. Therese Catholic Church, 300 Mildred NW, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm by George Jaramillo and George Lucero. Final visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church with Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Ron. SCHWAB -- Stuart T. Schwab of Albuquerque died in Houston on June 30, 2005 at age 47 after a courageous battle with leukemia. The son of Hermann and Meteer Schwab, he was born on September 11, 1957 in Glen Cove, New York. He is survived by his wife, Vicki; and his children Elizabeth, Emily, and Stuart, Jr. He is also survived by his parents; his brothers, George Schwab and Henry Schwab; his sisters, Katharine Kimmick, Margery Weekes, and Lesley Forman and many nephews and nieces. A Memorial Service will be held in Albuquerque at The Cathedral Church of St. John, 318 Silver Avenue SW, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday July 7, 2005. SLINGERLAND -- Jim Slingerland, 53, a resident of Albuquerque for the last 28 years was prematurely taken away from his family and friends on Friday, July 1, 2005. Jim is survived by his life partner, Clarence Montoya of Albuquerque; mother, Alice Slingerland of Albuquerque; two brothers, John Slingerland and wife, Cathy of Phoenix, AZ and Jeff Slingerland and wife, K.K. Ward of Albuquerque; and four nieces, Laura, Jackie, Jory and Kelsey. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Slingerland in 1970. Jim worked for Sprint as a customer consultant for the past seven years. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. followed by a celebration of Jim's life on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at his brother Jeff's home at 7113 Edwina Ave. NE.
