ALECK -- SOPHIA ALECK, age 89, of Santa Fe, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2004, peacefully at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her sons: James Maryol and wife Ann, Kirk Aleck and wife Mary Lou; daughters: Georgia Maryol, Eva Kurtz, Toni Maryol, Chrisa Cazamias and husband James; sister, Athena Patsalis; loving caregiver, Lita Baca, 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchil-dren, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Funeral Mass will be conducted Friday, December 31, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at St. Elias Greek Orthodox Church. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Albuquerque. Sophia was a member of St. Elias Greek Orthodox Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Elias Greek Orthodox Church or the American Red Cross. ARMSTRONG -- J. Robert "Bob" Armstrong, 91, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 29 years, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2004. Bob was born July 18, 1913, the son of S. J. Claude and Ruth H. Chamberlin Armstrong, in Nebraska. He was a devoted father and grandfather who took care of his family. In 1936 he married his beloved wife, Violet. Bob retired from the Railroad in 1975, and in 1989 he and Violet moved from North Platte, Nebraska to Albuquerque to live with this son, Dan. Bob was known for being quite the handyman and carpenter and was very fond of woodworking and cabinet making. In his later years, he enjoyed photography and working on the computer. He was a member of the Faith Evangelical Free Church of Rio Rancho. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Violet; and sons, Jason and Daniel. He is survived by one daughter, Gwen Noyes and husband, Ken of Albuquerque; eleven grandchildren, Ruth Anne, Mark, Jan, Marnie, Greg, Kendra, Gary, Kathie, Angi, Dannell, and Heather; and thirty two great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held for Bob on Saturday, January 1, 2004 at 12:00 Noon at the Faith Evangelical Free Church, 900 Southern Blvd. in Rio Rancho. Officiating will be Pastor Tom Lambelet. It has been suggested that Memorial contributions be made in Bob's name to the Presbyterian Hospice, 8300 Constitution Av. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. DURANT -- Mary Margaret Durant, 87, a 54-year resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, December 27, 2004. She is survived by her son, Michael J. Durant and wife, Yvonne of Albuquerque; daughter, Linda Beaulieu and husband, Ray of Albuquerque; grandson, Daniel Beaulieu; granddaughter, Tara Durant; sister-in-law, Frances Gassner. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Vern Durant; father Edward William Gassner; mother, Marie Elisabeth Bruggeman; and brother, Edmund Gassner. Mrs. Durant was born April 3, 1917, Tiffin, OH. She graduated from Calvert High School in Tiffin, OH and graduated Tiffin Business College. She worked as a secretary at Wright Field Air Force Base in Dayton, OH in the 1940s. Mrs. Durant married August 12, 1941 to John V. Durant. She was a current member of Glory Christian Fellowship, past member Faith Lutheran Church and Annunciation Catholic Church. Mrs. Durant also worked with the Catholic Charismatic Center and was involved in the Charismatic Renewal in Albuquerque. She was also a member of Nor Este Art Association, the Sanado Women's Club and the Sanado Singers. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Friday, January 31, 2004, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastors Joseph Cangiolosi and David Wintermute of Glory Christian Fellowship and Rev. GALASSINI -- Lena Marie Galassini, 79, a resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Lovelace Hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Rose M. HOLMES -- Vi Holmes left this life on December 28, 2004. She was one of eight children of Ruben and Myrtle Crain of Tularosa, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Holmes. She is survived by her sons, Jack Holmes of Edgewood, NM and Gary Holmes and wife, Kate of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Elizabeth Holmes and Joanna Archibeque and husband, Phil of Albuquerque; Jackie Ray Holmes of Edgewood; great-grandson, Bryce Jordan Ingram; sisters, Thelma Bond, Betty Kopecky, Dorothy Gooch and Joan Montgomery; brother, Curtis Crane; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. JOLLY -- Edith Nation Jolly, 96, a former Albuquerque resident, passed on December 17, 2004 at Laurel Plains in Clovis, NM following an extended illness. She was born December 11, 1908 in Jackson, MI to Harley Rathbone Nation, a traveling salesman, and Bertha Jane Pritchard Nation; her childhood was spent near Lancaster, PA and in Indianapolis, IN. She attended the University of Indiana for one year and then worked for the Coca-Cola company to help support her family during the Depression. She was married to Edward Lee Jolly, Senior, on May 4, 1935 in Clark County in southeastern Indiana. "Love enriches the nature, enlarging, purifying, and elevating it." She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution through her great-great-great-grandfather, American Patriot David Pri(t)chard (1755-1815), who fought in the Revolutionary War at Edenton, Albemarle Sound, NC. In 1952, she and her husband sold all their possessions, purchased a trailer, and moved with their children from Indianapolis to Albuquerque. She was a Second Reader at the First Christian Science Church of Albuquerque and a member of Ruth's Girls. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was an accomplished cook and seamstress. She gladly retired from Sandia National Laboratory in 1974 and delighted in a trip to Spain with her husband. In later years, she enjoyed trips and cruises and playing bridge with old friends and former neighbors at Four Hills Mobile Home Park, where her husband had been the manager after his retirement from Sandia. Edith was preceded in death by her husband in 1975; her parents; her two sisters; and her two brothers. Survivors include her son, Edward Lee Jolly and wife, Susan of Los Alamos; daughters, Maribeth Menefee of Garland, TX and Valerie Runyan and husband, Norman of Tyrone; former daughter-in-law, Patricia Stafford of Littleton, CO; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, NM Chapter, 9500 Montgomery NE, Suite 209 Albuquerque, NM 87111. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Buena Vista and Laurel Plains for their thoughtful and untiring care. A private memorial service is to be held.

KIRIKOS -- Gus Kirikos, 64, died at his home in Santa Rosa, California on December 22, 2004. Gus was born on February 8, 1940 in Albuquerque, NM, the son of William and Georgia (Capels) Kirikos and he attended schools there growing up. He served two tours of duty in the Navy and has lived happily in Santa Rosa, California for the last 30 years. Gus worked as a Chef for 42 years, in Phoenix, Jackson Hole and Las Vegas. He leaves behind his wife, Agnes of Santa Rosa, Calif; his son, John of San Francisco; brothers, Christ & wife, Phyllis of Albuquerque, NM; Michael and wife, Carol of T or C, NM; his sisters, Irene Harte and Maria Post both of Albuquerque, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Zoe. As were his wishes, Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

RAMIREZ -- Debra Theresa Ramirez, 49, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2004. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Mike A. Ramirez; daughters, Monica Ramirez and Angela and husband Alfredo Munoz; sons, Michael and wife Cindy Ramirez, and Dominic Ramirez and fiance Electra Gibson; grandchildren, Paul, Alfredo Jr., Angelica M., Anthony, Angelica R., Eulices, Atilana, and one on the way; step-grandchildren, Laticia, Miguel, and Bianca; father, J. Roy Griego and wife Estella; brother, Michael Griego and wife Dolores; sisters, Joann Lee and husband Samuel, Diane Griego, Christine Cordova and husband Ruben, and Melissa Becerra; and several step-brothers and -sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Viola B. Dye on May 25, 1997; godchildren Renee Ortega, Carmen Becerra, and Gabriel Montoya. Debra was a current employee and dedicated preschool teacher for Lowell CDC of Albuquerque for many years. TAYLOR -- Barbara Ellen Taylor, a resident of Canon, near Jemez Pueblo, passed away on December 25, 2004 with her loving family at her side. Born on October 6, 1943, Barbara loved to brighten the lives of those around her and taught us all to embrace life. She is survived by her husband, Sidney E. Taylor, Sr. of Canon, NM and her stepchildren, Laura Taylor and her companion, Fred Fiedler of Hico, TX, Sidney E. Taylor, Jr. and his wife, Karen Taylor, Richard Taylor and John Pacheco, all of Jemez Springs, NM. She is also survived by a daughter, Rachel Fonda of Ardmore, OK.
