JOLLY -- Edith Nation Jolly, 96, a former Albuquerque resident, passed on December 17, 2004 at Laurel Plains in Clovis, NM following an extended illness. She was born December 11, 1908 in Jackson, MI to Harley Rathbone Nation, a traveling salesman, and Bertha Jane Pritchard Nation; her childhood was spent near Lancaster, PA and in Indianapolis, IN. She attended the University of Indiana for one year and then worked for the Coca-Cola company to help support her family during the Depression. She was married to Edward Lee Jolly, Senior, on May 4, 1935 in Clark County in southeastern Indiana. "Love enriches the nature, enlarging, purifying, and elevating it." She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution through her great-great-great-grandfather, American Patriot David Pri(t)chard (1755-1815), who fought in the Revolutionary War at Edenton, Albemarle Sound, NC. In 1952, she and her husband sold all their possessions, purchased a trailer, and moved with their children from Indianapolis to Albuquerque. She was a Second Reader at the First Christian Science Church of Albuquerque and a member of Ruth's Girls. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was an accomplished cook and seamstress. She gladly retired from Sandia National Laboratory in 1974 and delighted in a trip to Spain with her husband. In later years, she enjoyed trips and cruises and playing bridge with old friends and former neighbors at Four Hills Mobile Home Park, where her husband had been the manager after his retirement from Sandia. Edith was preceded in death by her husband in 1975; her parents; her two sisters; and her two brothers. Survivors include her son, Edward Lee Jolly and wife, Susan of Los Alamos; daughters, Maribeth Menefee of Garland, TX and Valerie Runyan and husband, Norman of Tyrone; former daughter-in-law, Patricia Stafford of Littleton, CO; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, NM Chapter, 9500 Montgomery NE, Suite 209 Albuquerque, NM 87111. The family wishes to thank the staffs of Buena Vista and Laurel Plains for their thoughtful and untiring care. A private memorial service is to be held.
