Austin -- Grace"Dee" Marie Austin, 60, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2003. Born in Bushnell, IL, she was a resident of Albuquerque for over 42 years. Dee came to Albuquerque to stay with her sister and attend school where she met her husband and her long time friends. She was a bookkeeper and an avid NASCAR fan. Dee is survived by her husband of 42 years, Bill A. Austin; daughter, Rose Myers and husband, Raymond; son, Thomas; granddaughters, April Austin and Christine Myers; great-grandchildren, Dajanay, Donovan, and Lenae Austin, all of Albuquerque; sisters, Joyce Haney of Grants Pass, OR and Babe Ford of Bushnell, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Though she is not here in body she will always be with us in spirit and will be dearly missed. Cremation has taken place and by her request no service is scheduled. Fiedler -- Linda Jane, 55, a resident of the Mid Valley Airpark of Los Lunas, New Mexico for over 30 years, died with her fiance, David Marshall of Alamogordo, in a plane crash on Sunday, May 25, 2003 in Los Lunas. Linda was an extraordinarily active community member in the Los Lunas area and participated in the Belen Christian Church, the Valencia County Extension Club, the AM chapter of P.E.O., the Mid Valley Airpark Women's Association, and the Los Lunas High School Band Boosters. For many years, she was the president of Mountainview Corporation, a security and answering service in Los Lunas. More recently, she was employed at the Comfort Inn in Los Lunas and was selected as 2002 Desk Clerk of the Year from several inns throughout the Southwest. She was a model Christian, a devoted mother and a generous and loving daughter, sister, friend and neighbor. She brought a smile to the faces of those around her, and she will be deeply missed by those who were touched by her love and kindness. Her father, Richard W. King; and her husband, Gary J. Fiedler, preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons:, Jeremy C. Fiedler and his wife, Annette of Los Lunas, as well as Ryan B. Fiedler of Los Lunas; by her mother, Wilma J. King of Artesia, NM; by three brothers, Bill A. King and his wife, Patsy of Roswell, NM, Bob E. King and his wife, Teresa of Roswell, and Jim R. King and his wife, Tia Turner of Albuquerque, NM; and also by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2003 at 11:30 a.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, located at 1100 Coal SE in Albuquerque, NM. Hatchell -- Hattie Frances "Susie" Carmichael Hatchell, a long time resident of Albuquerque and New Mexico was born in Blueridge, TX on July 24, 1915. She is survived by her daughter, Glynnie Franchini and husband, Gene; sons, Jon Michael Hatchell and wife, Dottie, Jeffrey Lee Hatchell and wife, Heidi Reinhart; grandchildren, Pamela Trent and husband, Martin, Jamie Elias and wife, Carla Wersonick, Gina Franchini and husband, Eddie Landis, Nancy J. Franchini, Trevor Hatchell and fiancé, Erica Schmidt, Samuel Hatchell, Bridget, Drew and Pietre Hamblin-Hatchell, Ingrid, Ian and Theodore Hamblin, and seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Hatchell is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Glenn Hatchell; son, Neal Talmadge Hatchell; granddaughter, Lori Jan Franchini-Basham; and grandson, Christopher Talmadge Hatchell. Frances and Melvin were married in 1936 in Hobart, Oklahoma. Frances was a long time member of the First Methodist Church and most recently a member of Heights Christian Church. She was active in 4-H as a director, a co-owner-operator of Fran-Tula Ceramics in Old Town in the late 1940¯s, and retired in 1977 after twenty-five years as a food service supervisor at Presbyterian Hospital. Mrs. Hatchell's main interests were cook outs with family, reading, bridge, knitting, gardening, the theater, and water exercise at the YMCA. Services will be held Friday, 10:00 a.m., at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menual NE, with Pastor Don Kimbro officiating. Pallbearers will be Jamie Elias, Trevor Hatchell, Samuel Hatchell, Martin Trent, Kirk Hatchell, Jim Hatchell, and Ian Hamblin. Hernandez -- Christel Hulda Hernandez, 68, a resident of Albuquerque for 35 years, died Thursday, May 29, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard Hernandez; sons, Rick of Virginia, Thomas, Frank, Adam and Benjamin, all of Albuquerque; four grandsons; three granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and sisters, Edith, of Massachusetts and Erika of Germany. Christel was born and raised in Germany and met her husband while he was serving in the US Army stationed in Berlin. She was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church for 35 years. Intermont -- Patricia A. Intermont, 65, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died on Sunday, May 25, 2003. She is survived by her sons, David J. Intermont of Albuquerque, Scott P. Intermont of Bath, ME, and Adam C. Intermont of Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Charles Anderson of Brookhaven, NY. Patricia was a founder of ¯Operation Identity¯ across the country, in order to help adopted people find their birth parents and heritage. She was a member of Escribiente, a group of calligraphy artists. She was also a teacher of the art. Patricia and her husband, David, owned and operated Southwest Rubber Stamp Co. for 25 years. Her art was displayed at various galleries and for many years at the NM Arts and Crafts Fair. Jensen -- James (Jim) A. Jensen, Sunrise - March 7, 1941 Sunset - May 26, 2003 James Jensen of Albuquerque, passed away May 26, 2003. Jim was born March 7, 1941 to Arthur and Marjorie Jensen. He was married to Sandra M. Jensen who passed away September 8, 1999. Jim is survived by son, Jay Jensen of Albuquerque; daughter, Kelly and husband, Bobby Fekishazy and granddaughter, Megan of Houston, TX; son, Eric Jensen and wife, Brandi Jensen and granddaughter, Tiana of Deer Park, TX and grandson, Matthew Jensen of San Diego, CA; sister, Joan Sheppard of Alaska; several nieces, nephews and family friends. Jim served in the Air Force for two years. Jim worked as a commercial artist in 1964. He worked many years in the tire business and finished his career in real estate. Jim had a heart transplant March 6, 1989. The last 14 years he spent his time with family and friends. Jim will be missed. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Strong-Thorne Mortuary 1100 Coal Ave. SE in the Palm Chapel. Latta -- Thomas Eugene Latta died in Vallecito, Colorado on May 24, 2003. Tom was born on September 8, 1929 in Whitedeer, Texas. He grew up in Delta, Colorado and graduated from Delta Highschool in 1946 as president of the Student Body. He attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and went on to earn degrees in Geology and Nuclear Physics from the University of New Mexico in 1965. He married Charlotte Ann Dent of Grand Junction in Montrose, Colorado. They recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. He was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite Freemasonry Santa Fe, NM. and an active member of Mesa Lodge number 68 A.F. and A.M. Albuquerque NM. and the Ballut Abyad Shrine in Albuquerque. Tom began his career in Grand Junction, CO with the Atomic Energy Commission where he was employed many years. He retired from his job as a nuclear physicist from Sandia Natl. Laboratories in 1993 after 32 years. Tom was highly regarded for his contributions in the scientific field. His main field of endeavor was with upper atmospheric experimentation, rocket science, and the StarWars program in Kauai, Hawaii. He will be remembered for his integrity and sense of duty. Tom and Sharley divided their time between homes in Vallecito, Colorado and Scottsdale, Arizona. Tom is survived by his wife, Charlotte; two daughters, Dana Buss and husband, Dale in Castle Rock, Colorado, Pamela Medley and husband, Noel Fortis of Albuquerque; one son, Mike Latta and wife, Niki of Rock Springs, Wyoming; and eight grandchildren, Doctors, Greg Medley and wife, Katherine of Del Mar, CA., Eugene Medley, Kimberley, Kyle and Katherine Buss, Ann Dee TulVern of Crestone CO. Ernestine Startup and husband, Merv of Tempe, AZ, Bea McGee, CA; and three other brothers, Jim Latta and wife, Chris of Eckert, CO., Bill Latta, wife, Roberta of Delta, CO, Larry Latta, Denver, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom enjoyed traveling, gardening, fishing, mining, and geology. He loved spending time with his family and friends. A Masonic Service will be conducted in Albuquerque, N. on May 29, 2003, at the Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple 6600 Zuni S.E., Albuquerque NM. Tentative time 2:00 p.m. Services and Burial will take place in Grand Junction, CO on May 31, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Martin Mortuary 550 N. Ave, Grand Junction CO. Marshall -- David L. Marshall, age 56, a resident of Los Lunas passed away May 25, 2003. David was stationed in Alamogordo for 25 years having recently moved to Los Lunas. Survivors include his daughters, April L. Thomas and husband, James, Kelly E. Carpenter and husband, Mark both of Alamogordo, NM; sons, Darren L. Marshall and wife, Britta, Christopher A. Marshall both of Roswell, NM; uncle, Ott Martin; and four grandchildren. David is preceded in death by his spouse. Portia C. Marshall; parents. Dorsey and Lula Marie Marshall. David was a H.A.M radio operator, and a member of the Aircraft Owner Pilots Association; he lived in his 1946 Ercoupe airplane. David was a very humorous, smart witted extremely intelligent man who loved Mel Brooks, 007, WWII history and loved to eat. He was a very genuine and caring man who loved his family more than life. Mccullough -- Scott Lee McCullough, June 3, 1963 - May 25, 2003A big man with a big heart passed away suddenly on Sunday. A loving husband, father, son and brother whose passions were his family, his friends and his woodworking. He created designs in wood and is admired as a fine artisan by family and friends. As a young man, he loved his work at Uncle Cliff's and was there for many years. His work at Home Base and more recently at Home Depot, as a commercial liaison was an indispensable part of the Albuquerque construction business. He was known as"Bubba" and"Slim" by his lifelong friends, he also enjoyed motorcycle riding and flying hand built model gliders. He leaves his beloved wife, Erika Shepherd; and children, Amber and Anthony. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Patricia McCullough. Survived by his father, Russell F. McCullough who resides in Lake City, FL; mother-in-law, Renee Fox and father-in-law, Sam Martinez of Albuquerque; and sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Jim Taylor of Gainesville, FL and their daughter, Elizabeth and her husband, Oscar Real; his brothers, Todd McCullough and wife, Amarilys Martinez of Tallahassee, FL, Geoffrey Romero and wife, Sherry Mares and their five children; his family with the softball team,"Three Up/Three Down"; Troy and Marilyn Rippie and daughter, Michelle; Mike and Chrisene Dillon and son, Jeffrey; Rex and Sheila Cover and children, Adam and Rachael; John Fresco; Steve and Jenny Nelson; and many other friends. Scott was and continues to be well loved and admired and he will be sadly missed. Mills -- Martha Mills, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Thursday, May 29, 2003. She is survived by her husband, Easton E. Mills of Albuquerque; daughter, Janet C¯de Baca of Rio Rancho; son, Craig Easton Mills of Columbus, OH; four granddaughters, Alicia Sharpe and husband, Jason, Marina Mills all of Albuquerque; Ariel Mills and Alima Mills of Santa Fe; two grandsons, Christopher C¯de Baca and wife, Theresa of White Rock, NM and Andrew Joel Mills of Albuquerque; and her dog, Lovey. She married Easton E. Mills June 28, 1944. This year they would have been married for 59 years. Mrs. Mills loved all creatures, great and small. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Olguin -- Angela T. Olguin, 83, died Monday, May 26, 2003 in Denver, CO. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Olguin Ochoa and husband, William of Mexico City, Jane Olguin Ruska and husband, Lee of Annapolis, MD, Margaret Olguin Abbate and husband, James of Denver, CO, Ann Olguin Weatherson and husband, James of Los Angeles, CA; sons, John Olguin and wife, Linda of Rockville, MD and Lawrence Olguin and wife, Sheila of Richland, WA; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Jenkins and wife, Marge of Beaver, UT; sisters, Bernadette Avila of Albuquerque, Evelyn Martin of Billings, MT, Ruth Parker of San Francisco, CA, and Louella Draper of San Diego, CA; and son-in-law, William Robinson of Philadelphia, PA. Mrs. Olguin was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Manuel P. Olguin, and daughter, Alicia (Hita) Olguin Robinson. Mrs. Olguin graduated with a B.S. in Education from the University of Albuquerque in 1951 where she was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa (Teachers' Sorority) and received her Masters Degree in Elementary Administration from the University of New Mexico in 1965. She was an educator for 43 years, nine of which were as Principal for Central Elementary School in Los Lunas and Assistant Principal for one year at Los Lunas Middle School. Mrs. Olguin was awarded Principal of the Year in 1983 by the faculty and staff of Raymond A. Gabaldon Elementary School, formerly Central School, in Los Lunas. She was an Associate Professor from an Jose State College in the Dominican Republic for two years as an Elementary Specialist Curriculum Advisor. The following year she served as an Elementary Teacher at the American School in El Salvador. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE, with Kathy Garcia reciting. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Father Joseph Tran Thai, S.S.S., Celebrant. Purucker -- Robert W."Bob" Purucker, 67, a resident of Bosque Farms, NM, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 22, 2003. He was very active in the Bosque Farms Community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Bosque Farms community Fair, and Community Watch. He founded Material Handling Specialists in Bosque Farms in 1984. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Susan; his two children, Chris and his wife, Evelyn of Albuquerque, NM; Kurt and his wife, Cathy who are missionaries in Asia and Hawaii; his five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters. All services will be held at the Romero Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2003 and will follow with a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that donations be made in Bob's name to the Valencia County Animal Shelter. Romero -- Carmen V. Romero, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Tuesday, May 27, 2003, while surrounded by her loving family. Carmen was born on May 11, 1922 to the late Agapito and Aurelia Vigil. She was preceded in death by her husband Jose T. Romero in 2001; and two sons, Mark and Paul Romero. Carmen was a loving and caring person who enjoyed the simply things in life, like cooking home-made tortillas, pies, bread all of her family's favorites; and especially spending time with her family. Carmen is survived by her loving children, Johnny Vigil and wife, Laura, Mary Lou Lucero, Joe (Pete) A. Romero, Rosie M. Romero, Frances M. Martinez and husband, Michael, and Leroy H. Romero; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are, one brother, Eugenio Vigil and wife, Martina; one sister, Elsie Trujillo and husband, Gregorio; sister-in-laws, Frances Vigil and Ramona Vigil; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carmen will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those who knew and loved her. Rosten -- Rebecca J. Rosten, age 45, formerly of Albuquerque and most recently of Ishpeming, MI passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at the Marquette General Hospital following a five-month battle with cancer. Becky was born on March 18, 1958, in Marquette, Michigan, to Donna (Tousignant) and the late Francis D. Rosten. Becky received an Associate in Business Degree from Northern Michigan University in May of 1978, a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Central Michigan University in May of 1981, and a Master of Arts Degree from the University of New Mexico in December of 1989. Becky worked for 12 years at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque in various positions and departments, most recently as an office administrative assistant. She also worked at several different schools in Minnesota, Texas, and New Mexico, teaching special education and emotionally impaired children. Becky volunteered her time to many organizations including the Rocket Reader Volunteer Literacy Program, Bright Horizons, the Wise Men and Women Mentorship Program, Big Brother and Big Sisters, and also taught basic reading at Sandia National Laboratories. Becky's interests and hobbies included dancing, skiing, needlepoint, crafts, watching hockey, baseball, and football. She enjoyed traveling, warm weather, and time at the beach. Becky is survived by her mother, Donna Rosten of Ishpeming, MI; sister, Ann (Reynold) Kulju of Ishpeming, MI; two brothers, Michael Rosten of Ishpeming, MI and Jon Rosten of Glendale, California; two very special nephews, Christopher and Stephen Kulju; a very special niece, Kathryn Kulju; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. Her father, Francis Rosten preceded Becky in death. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. est, Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Ishpeming, MI with Rev. Lauri O. Maki and Rev. Karen Wight Hoogheem officiating. Inurnment will be in the Ishpeming Cemetery. Scott -- Theodore E. Scott of Rio Rancho passed away on May 27, 2003 at the age of 72 in Yonkers, NY after a battle with lung cancer."Ted" was born April 3, 1931, the first son of Seifret and Miriam Scott in NYC where he was raised. Before retiring to New Mexico in 1988, he spent over 30 years with the NYC Department of Corrections, retiring at the rank of Captain. For 44 years Teddy was the adoring husband of Sylvia Joyce Peters who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by daughter, Stacey DaSilva. Ted is survived by his sister, Zelekah of NYC; his son, Stuart and wife, Grace of Yonkers, NY, and their child, Stephen; his son, Shaun and wife, Susan of Apollo Beach, FL; his son-in-law, Jorge of Woodbridge, VA; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. There will be no local services. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and wishes.

Smith -- Gary Smith, 52, a resident of Albuquerque for most of his life, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Jayne Smith of Albuquerque; son, Shawn Smith and wife, Elizabeth of Blaine, MN; daughter, Sayward Smith; son, Chad Karins, both of Albuquerque; mother, Patricia Harrison of Woodland, CA; brothers and sisters, David Smith and wife, Ann, Brian Smith and wife, Janice, Maureen Garrett and husband, J.P., Gene Secco and wife, Sandy, Roni Gaede, LeeAnn Goodwin and husband, Dan, Ken Gallagher and wife, Theresa and Roy Gallagher and wife, Debbie; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gary served his country in Vietnam with the U.S. Air Force. He was a Support Service Manager for the Metropolitan Court over 15 years. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2003, at 10:00 a.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Andy Husted officiating. Sutton -- Eugenia G. Sutton died early Thursday morning, May 29, 2003 in Albuquerque, NM. The youngest child of Mary and Chris Hansen, Eugenia was born July 5, 1916 in Denmark, Wisconsin. After high school, Eugenia struck out for California, graduating from UCLA in the heart of the Depression. Later, she obtained her Master's degree in Education and taught for many years at Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley, California. She lived in the San Diego area for 50 years; her heart was always in San Diego. Many whom she loved died before her: her parents; sister, Viola Holcomb; brother, Lloyd Hansen; and her passionately-loved husband, Jefferson H. Sutton. She is survived by her two children, Gale Sutton-Barbere and husband, Michael and Chris Sutton and wife, Laurie; and by her three grandchildren, Meryl, Andrew, and Tyler- she loved them beyond all else. Also surviving are her brother, Harold Hansen; sister, Ruth Thompson; sisters-in-law, Beverly Hansen and Juana Sutton; nieces, nephews; and friends she held dear to her heart. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christopher Reeves Paralysis Foundation.Grieve not for our mother, for a catastrophic car accident gave her decades of battling pain, endless years of ever-increasing dreariness, limitation on living.Do not cry for our mother, for those infinite decades slowly robbed her of joy, laughter, and dreams.No, do not mourn.Rather, know that forty years ago, she was tall and strong, proud and confident, laughing, eyes gleaming.
