Benavides -- Edward J. Benavides, 54, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away February 23, 2001. He is survived by Susie Benavides; daughters, Darlene Benavides, Rosemary Chavez and husband, Maxx, and Anita Benavides, all of Albuquerque; sister, Maria Louisa Ruiz and husband, Eloy of Phoenix; brother, Albert Benavides and wife, Helen of Albuquerque; Godson, Ray Castillo and sister, Sara Trujillo of California; grandchildren, Melissa Benavides, Mathias Chavez, Daniel Chavez, Joshua Chavez and Ashlee Jojola; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends will miss him. Correa -- Gilbert T. Correa Sr., 72, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, passed away February 24, 2001. He was born and raised in Hawaii, and during Pearl Harbor as a Boy Scout, his troop helped tremendously with the clean up efforts. He graduated high school from St. Louis Academy and the day following graduation enrolled at CalTech in Glendale, California and received his engineering degree. When the Korean Conflict began he entered the Air Force. He was a Civil Engineer at Kirtland Air Force Base and retired from civil service in 1983. After retirement, he worked as a security guard at Tanoan and was loved by all the residents, young and old. He enjoyed telling his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren Hawaiian folklore including,"Menehunes" and the"Red Hand". He enjoyed restoring classic cars and race cars, and attending these races with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antone T. and Irene Correa; a daughter, Dolores"Lona" McLaughlin; and a son, Anthony Robert Correa. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Lavinia Correa; children, Gilbert Correa Jr. and wife, Linda, Steve Correa and Kitty Cooper, Danny Correa, and Denise Whitfield and husband, Harry; son-in-law, Jim"Juice" McLaughlin; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Eva Ahol of Hawaii; and brother, Ted Correa of Hawaii; sisters-in-law, Dolly Woody, Rose Lujan and husband, Al, and Vickie Montoya, Olivia Keifer and husband, Larry; and brother-in-law, Carlos Montoya and wife, Betty. Visitation will be Monday, February 26, 2001, from 3:00 p.m. until time of Rosary at Hillcrest Funeral Home, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. also at Hillcrest Funeral Home, with Deacon Bob Contreras, reciting. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday, February 27, 2001, 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 12500 Carmel NE, with Father Mellon Garcia, Celebrant. Cremation will follow. Cunningham -- Edward J. (Granpa) Cunningham, 45, quietly passed away in his sleep February 23, 2001. He was a very loving husband and father of three kids, David-19, E.J.-12, Jolene-10, and his wife Robyn. He is also survived by his mother Angela (Dolly), brothers, Steve and Jim, sisters, Mary Ann Heise and Debbie, cousin/brother Ed Maio and 19 nieces and nephews and four great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many, many friends. He will be very missed by all. I love you Baby. He was preceded in death by his father, James David Cunningham. Cremation has taken place. Davignon -- Emma Jane "Jean" Davignon, age 75 passed Thursday, February 22, 2001 in a local hospital in Albuquerque. She was born March 29, 1925 in Panhandle, Texas to the late John Landon and Emma Alice (Garretson) White. She is survived by one daughter, Michelle Gallegas of Oklahoma City, OK; two sons, William R. Davignon of Phoenix AZ, Edward Absher of Littleton, CO; two brothers, Thede White of Albuquerque, Tom White of Boise, ID; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Monday afternoon, February 26, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. in the Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal S.E. Pastor Jim Comfort will officiate. Dukeminier -- Mr. Charles Dukeminier, 62, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 23, 2001. Mr. Dukeminier, is the beloved husband of 40 years to Mrs. Frances (Fran) Dukeminier. He is also survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Castillo and husband, Richard and Casandra J. Sanchez and husband, Jesse; one son, Duke Daniel Dukeminier and wife, Teri; one sister, Ramona Clark of Huntsville, Alabama; one brother, Henry Dukeminier and wife, Sue; nine grandchildren, Michael, Robert, Debra, Jade, Sydney, Jesse III, Felicia, JoHanna and JoElla; his mother-in-law, Eufemia Montez; four brothers-in-law, Jerome Montez and wife, Elaine, Danny Montez Jr., Bob Montez and wife, Yolanda and George Montez and wife, Sally; one sister-in-law, Virgina Herbolsheimer and husband, John; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Dukeminier, was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam Era and was a retired auto mechanic serving in the Albuquerque and Bernalillo County for over 30 years. A Funeral Service will be held Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with visitation after 9:30 a.m., Deacon Harry Beare, officiating. Interment will take place Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with full Military Honors by the V. F. W. Chapter 3. Eades -- Jean Eades, 66, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2001. She is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Eades of Albuquerque, NM; sons, Levi Killgore and wife, Bernita of Los Lunas, NM; and Kirby Killgore and wife, Brenda of Mountain View, MO; daughter, Willie Mae Hawthorne and husband, Thomas of Phoenix, AZ; step-daughter, Betty Jo Joslin and step-son Billy Gene Eades of Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren; brother, Alfred Sanford and wife, Toni of Gateway, CO; sisters, Elda Graham and husband, Robert of Gateway, CO, Betty Miles of Madras, OR, Elsie Boss of Las Vegas, NV, and Elizabeth James of Grand Junction, CO. Gouett -- Charles Sidney "Sid" Gouett, Jr., 67, loving husband, devoted father, and caring grandfather, passed away unexpectly on February 22, 2001. He was an outstnading athlete at Bishop Union High School, Bishop, California, and went on to play football for Witchita State. He was proud to have served his country in the Armed Forces. He became an accomplished real estate entrepreneur but was most successful with his family. He supported each family mamber in whatever dreams and aspirations they may have had. Sid loved to tell stories and he made everyone smile because we all knew his colorful stories stretched the truth a bit. He was creative with his hands, in the kitchen, wood shop, and the garden. He was an avid fisherman. Sid loved a variety of sports and was especially a big Lobo and Rams fan. Watching classic western movies was his favorite pastime and he knew where most of them were filmed. He was full of life and could easily make friends with 500 people on a cruise ship in three days. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Sue of the family home; his children and step-children, Krysti Gouett of CA, Pat Hulse and Suzette of Rio Rancho, Neil Gouett and Laurie of Thousand Oaks, CA, Shawna Hulse of Albuquerque; Susan Burleson of Salt Lake City, UT, and Erin Hulse and John Penery of Albuquerque. Sid is also survived by eight grandsons, two granddaughters, sisters, Gerogie Clark and family of Hanford, CA; and Ginnie Johnson of Bishop, CA, and countless friends. Kula -- Betty J. Kula, resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2001. She was born in Denison, TX on February 2, 1934. Betty is survived by her husband of 45 years, Loren W. Kula of the family home; one son, Gregory Kula of Albuquerque, NM; three daughters, Mary Kelly of Sierra Vista, AZ, Connie Nowak and husband, David of Fremont, OH, Lori Mehl and husband, Ian of Albuquerque, NM; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and many friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Steven Kula on May 31, 1997. She was a loving, caring wife and mother, always concerned for the welfare of her family. Betty dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren which was evident by the joy she experienced when with them. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Lavalley -- Elizabeth "Betty" LaValley, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1963, died Saturday February 24, 2001. She is survived by her loving husband, Harold"Pete" LaValley of the family home; sons, Terry C. LaValley and wife, Nancy of Phoenix; Peter J. LaValley and wife, Susan of Phoenix; daughters, Cheryl E. Carabello and husband, Chuck of Ekron, KY; Vicki A. Coburn and husband, Critt, Sr. of Las Cruces; Barbara J. Vollmers of Englewood, CO; Cynthia L. Mize and husband, Jack of Albuquerque; Bonnie G. Bartlett and husband Dave of Greeley, CO; and her 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. LaValley was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. In 1984, she retired from Mountain Bell. Betty was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 49. Services will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2001, 1:00 p.m. at the Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Leder -- Muriel C. Leder, 81, resident of Albuquerque, passed away on February 24, 2001. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edward J. Leder of Albuquerque, NM; son, John E. Leder and wife, Anne of Seattle, WA; daughter, Kris A Leder of Norman, OK; two grandchildren, David Leder and Beth Miller and husband, Zeke. Muriel was born on July 8, 1919 in Syracuse, NY and moved to Albuquerque in 1949. She was a member of Chapparral and Cuatros Estados Chapters of FMCA. Muriel loved to travel in the family motor home; she was a gourmet cook and baker and also enjoyed sewing and crafts. Services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. N.E. Private interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Lingo -- Lt. Col. Edward F. Lingo (Ed) died February 23 at the VA Medical Center. Ed was a Bataan Death March survivor and a Japanese prisoner of war. He retired from the VA and Army Reserves in 1972. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Campbell Lingo, his daughter, Grace Marie Lingo Seamans, and his sister, Clara Intemann. He is survived by John and Connie on the Campbell side, Fran, Cathy, and Ed on the Intemann side; many great-nieces and nephews and his beloved friend Pat Magee. He moved to Albuquerque with his family in 1922 and has lived here ever since except for his army service. He was a man of honor who has shown great courage and dignity through the many difficult times in his life. All those whom he has touched will miss him. Martinez -- Manuel A. Martinez ¯Marty¯, 76, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, February 22, 2001. He was born April 19, 1924 in Albuquerque, son of Samuel and Christine Martinez of Cerrillos, NM. Mr. Martinez served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre. After returning home he married Mary Helen Gibbs of Madrid, NM. He attended the University of Washington. Upon his return he owned and operated Central Dental Lab. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Helen Martinez; daughters, Ann Rice and husband, Tim of Crownpoint, NM, Jean Duck and husband, Michael of Mc Kinney, TX; son, Christopher Martinez of Albuquerque; and five grandchildren, Kathryn and Lisa Rice, Michelle and Steven Duck, and CJ Martinez. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7500 Paseo Del Norte NE, with Father Bob Keller, Celebrant. Montoya -- Anna Bell Montoya, 50, passed away February 23, 2001, at her home, after a long battle with cancer. She retired from U.S. West in 1996, and was currently employed by TOSCO Corporation. Anna Bell enjoyed many physical activities, mainly hiking and biking. She was preceded in death by her parents, Matildita (Lilly) Lopez and Fernandez Montoya, and is survived by her partner, Theresa Zidek; beloved sister, Elizabeth Montoya and her companion, Glenn Rossman; step-father, John B. Lopez; brothers, Gilbert Montoya and Robert Lopez. In addition she is survived by her very closest cousins, Betty Archibeque, Barbara Archibeque, Dorothy Nieto, and Michael Martinez, and in particular her most favorite aunt, Ruby Martinez who was there for her in every way throughout her life and especially during her illness. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Memorial Services will be held at Church of the Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming NE, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2001.. Nunn -- Earl Nunn, 86, a prominent New Mexico public schools educator, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2001. He was preceded in death by Cora Lea, his beloved wife of 63 years. Mr. Nunn was born February 7, 1915 in Gainesville, TX to John Ruby and Elizabeth Nunn. The family moved to Union County in northeastern New Mexico in 1917, where he was reared on a dry land farm with four older brothers, all of whom preceded him in death. Earl began his career in education at the age of 18 in a two-room school in the little village of Mansker, NM. Teaching in the winter and attending college in the summer, he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at New Mexico Highlands University and was awarded an honorary doctorate from New Mexico State University. He served as superintendent of schools in Folsom, Des Moines, Springer, Alamogordo and Las Cruces before retiring and becoming the first executive secretary of the New Mexico School Administrators¯ Administration. He was instrumental in the creation of the New Mexico education retirement system and advised governors and legislators on educational matters, including the state-wide implementation of the public school transportation system, the lunchroom program and free textbooks. After his retirement, he was actively involved with AARP and the Agency on Aging, serving on advisory boards with both organizations. During World War II, he was one of the 90-day wonders commissioned as a lieutenant j.g., in the US Navy. He was awarded the Silver Star for his actions aboard the destroyer, the USS Mahan, sunk in Leyte Gulf in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Del Norte Baptist Church and the Gate City Lodge #11, A.F. & A.M. Mr. Nunn is survived by his daughter, Patsy Carmichael of Albuquerque and her children, Carlton and wife, Tiffani of Edgewood, Kevin and wife, Diane of Atlanta, GA and Kathy of Plantation, FL; his son, Robert of Albuquerque and his daughter-in-law and friend, Kathleen Nunn and their children, Reid and wife, Gretchen, Michelle and Tyler, all of Albuquerque; and four great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held Thursday, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd., 1111 University Blvd. NE. Rader -- Wayne Webb Rader, age 94, passed away February 21, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born December 19, 1906 in Ft. Worth, Texas to the late Oziel L. and Maggie G. (Webb) Rader. He is survived by his wife, Nelda G. Rader of Las Vegas. He will be brought back to Albuquerque for committal services, Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at 9:00 a.m. at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. Richards -- Emma B. Richards, born October 5, 1906, died February 20, 2001 at age 94. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Richards and grandson, Scott Lemon. She is survived by her son, James Richards and wife, Vin of El Paso, TX; and her daughter, Janice Lemon and husband, Glenn of Rio Rancho; she is also survived by three grandchildren, Bryan and Matthew Richards and Tamara Lemon. Emma and Ed came to Albuquerque in 1945. Emma was a second grade teacher in the Albuquerque Public Schools for 22 years. She had been a resident at The Montebello Nursing Care for the past six years. Memorials can be sent to Delta Hospice or The Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church.
