Manuel A. Martinez ¯Marty¯, 76, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, February 22, 2001. He was born April 19, 1924 in Albuquerque, son of Samuel and Christine Martinez of Cerrillos, NM. Mr. Martinez served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre. After returning home he married Mary Helen Gibbs of Madrid, NM. He attended the University of Washington. Upon his return he owned and operated Central Dental Lab. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Helen Martinez; daughters, Ann Rice and husband, Tim of Crownpoint, NM, Jean Duck and husband, Michael of Mc Kinney, TX; son, Christopher Martinez of Albuquerque; and five grandchildren, Kathryn and Lisa Rice, Michelle and Steven Duck, and CJ Martinez. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7500 Paseo Del Norte NE, with Father Bob Keller, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Attn: Carla Ramirez, 5800 Lomas NE, 87110.
