Abbott -- Esther J. Abbott, 102, an Albuquerque resident since 1988, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2001. She resided at the Montebello Senior Living Center. Born on a farm near Bluffton, MN, she graduated as a RN from the Abbott Hospital. She married Dr. Victor Abbott and they lived in Minot, ND until she moved to the Montebello. She was a member of PEO and Eastern Star. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Collins of Baltimore, MD and Marjorie Borchert and husband, Chuck of Surprise, AZ; and by her son, Roger Abbott and wife, Jo Anne of Albuquerque. She has eight grandchildren, including Nancy Farley and David Abbott, both of Albuquerque; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970. A Memorial Service will be held, at a later date, at the Montebello, (10500 Academy NE), with Rev. Luther Mathsen of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Sunrise Society is serving the family of Mrs. Abbott. (891-8200).

Aragon -- Vicente Aragon, 74, a resident of Peralta, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2001. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and of The Sacred Heart Leaque. He is also a member of the Crusillo, which was the first one in NM. Vicente served in the US Army during WWII. He retired from the AT&SF Railroad after 23 years of outstanding service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Catalina Aragon, two sisters, Mary and Sally Aragon, and one son, Eloyd. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Ann of the family home in Peralta; two sons, Raymond and his wife, Gloria of Los Lunas; Richard of Peralta; his daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Aragon; five grandchildren, Suzanne Aragon of Albuquerque, Karen Garcia and her husband, Salomon of Peralta, Geno Aragon of Los Lunas, Vincent Aragon of Valencia, and Stephanie Aragon of Los Lunas; five great-grandchildren, Salomon Garcia, Jonathon Garcia, Andres Garcia, Savannah Aragon, and Theresa Aragon; two brothers, Manuel and his wife, Frances of Peralta, and Tom and his wife, Lugie of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews. A Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2000 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a Rosary following at 3:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2000, at 12:00 p.m. also at Our Lady Of Guadalupe with Deacon Joe Trujillo officiating. Chapman -- Edmond B. "Ed" Chapman, active for many years in the title insurance and abstract business in Albuquerque, died in Las Cruces on Thursday at the age of 86. In 1967, he came to Albuquerque as manager of First Title Guarantee and Trust Company. Later, the firm became USLIFE Title of Albuquerque. He served as President of the New Mexico Land Title Association in 1972. Retiring from USLIFE in 1974, Chapman later organized a new company, Tierra Title Company. This abstract firm operated in Bernalillo, Valencia, Torrance, and Guadalupe counties. It was the first computerized title company in New Mexico. Retiring again in 1979, he lived for some years in Walnut Creek, CA before relocating to Las Cruces. In 1951, Chapman became Executive Secretary to then Governor of Kansas, Edward F. Arn. Three years later he resigned to become State Director of the Federal Housing Administration in Kansas. Later he was appointed Assistant to the Commissioner of the FHA in Washington, D.C., serving from 1954 until 1956 during the Eisenhower administration. After leaving Washington, Chapman engaged in the title and abstract and mortgage business for several years in Texas before coming to Albuquerque. A native Kansan, Chapman graduated with B.A. and L.B. Degrees from Washburn University in Topeka, KS. Before World War II, he worked on newspapers in Manhattan and Abilene, Kansas, and Kansas City, MO. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1942 and served until August 1946. Later he practiced law in Belleville, Kansas, and was elected County Attorney in 1950. Chapman is survived by his son, Stewart Edmond Chapman, of Walnut Creek, CA; his daughter, Connie Herndon and her husband, Tim; and grandson, Lucas Edmond Herndon, all of Las Cruces; a brother, William S."Bill" Chapman and his wife, Natalie reside in Bastrop, LA. A Memorial Service is planned for 7:00 p.m. Monday evening January 8, 2001 at Graham's Mortuary in Las Cruces. In lieu of flowers, family members request that donations be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces.

Flynn -- John W."Jack" FlynnThis is the one-year anniversary of the death of John "Jack" Flynn of Santa Fe. His family and friends celebrate this life that gave so much to others either as Jack Flynn, the political reporter; Fr. Jack Flynn, the Antiochian Orthodox priest; the father, stepfather, husband, grandfather, uncle and brother to family; counselor and friend to hundreds. He is greatly missed and most likely misses having the opportunity to practice his journalistic craft about the amazing political stories that have erupted in the past year.

Forsythe -- Elsie Ann Forsythe. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Paul W. (Ann) Forsythe will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust Northeast. Mrs. Forsythe past away at her home December 28 of last year. The Reverend Myron White, Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church will officiate at the services. A reception will follow at Park Plaza, 1331 Park Avenue Southeast. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions to the Boys and Girls Ranch, New Mexico 87002 or to the donor's favorite charity.

Froelich -- James M. Froelich, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1990, passed away at home on December 30, 2000. He was born in Bridgeville, PA, on November 3, 1923. He attended the University of West Virginia and enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 8, 1941. He was a decorated B-24 Captain in the European Theater and an award- winning member of the Mosquito Squadron during the Korean Conflict. Upon discharge from service in 1951, he was employed by Trans World Airlines and served as a Captain until he retired in 1983. He was a Noble of the Mystic Shrine in Ballut Abyad Temple and a member of the Masonic Lodge. James is survived by Billee, his wife of 56 years, as well as two sons, James M. Froelich, Jr., of Albuquerque and David S. Froelich, of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by three grandchildren. Following cremation, James will be interred during a memorial ceremony at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe on Monday, January 8, 2001. Strong-Thorne Mortuary is in charge of his arrangements.

Gardner -- Melvin Ray Gardner, 68, a resident of Albuquerque since 1975, died Saturday, December 30, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Connie Gardner of Albuquerque; brother, Leland Gardner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Gardner was preceded in death by his father, Allan H. Gardner of Phoenix, AZ; and mother, Julia Wells Rogers of San Diego, CA. Melvin attended Stanford University and he was a business graduate of the University of Denver. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He retired in 1997 as a contract specialist from the Albuquerque Office of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He was a member of the Navajo Nation, who spent many years on the Navajo Reservation. He was administrator for the Sage Memorial Hospital at Ganado, AZ, and Executive Director of the Navajo Housing Authority at Window Rock, AZ. Private services were held. Harvey -- JEAN HARVEY Born Imogene Vaughn to her parents Gladys and Argie on November 24, 1930, she passed away December 30, 2000. Lifelong resident of Albuquerque, she attended San Jose, Eugene Field, Lincoln Junior High, and Albuquerque High schools. She was married to the love of her life, Elmer Harvey on St. Valentine's Day, 1949. She is survived by their three children, Carole Jackson, Deborah Wilson, and Gary Harvey. Elmer died in 1967. Jean will now join him in the National Cemetery at Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is survived by her father; her brother, Ralph; and her sisters, Judy and Jeanette. Her youngest brother, Doug, died in 1967. Her mother died in 1989. She was loving and devoted to her family. She was outgoing and made many friend in her life. She was intelligent, funny, and artistic. She enjoyed designing and sewing clothes, and making craft projects. She was good at drawing and painting. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren, Patricia Jackson Geary and Brian Jackson; and her great-grandchildren, Nathan Geary and Rachel Geary. We will miss her love, advice, and companionship. Hasenkamp -- F. Arthur Hasenkamp, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Tuesday, January 2, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Donna L. Hasenkamp of Albuquerque; daughter, Karen Edberhardt and life partner, Kim Williams of Towaco, NJ; daughter, Kristen K. Hunt of Albuquerque; son, James Hasenkamp of Albuquerque; grandson, Terry Eberhardt of Copaigue, NY; granddaughter, Tracey Eberhardt of Hicksville, NY, granddaughter, Nichole Miner-Hunt of Albuquerque; grandson, Alex Hunt of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Allyson Lancaster of Fairbanks, AK, granddaughter, Lydia Tipton and husband, Jason of Albuquerque; great-grandchildren, Kai D. Miner-Yazzie and Julia Tipton, both of Albuquerque; step-children, Donald Eisenhour and wife, Debi, Stephen Eisenhour and wife, Maria, Leigh Penfold and husband, Brian, Leslie Keller and husband, Paul; step-grandchildren, Jimmie Leonard, Brandon Leonard, Matthew Eisenhour, Michelle Eisenhour, Jessica Eisenhour, Ashlyn Keller, all of Albuquerque; and sister, Mary Akers of Denver. Mr. Hasenkamp was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Keith Hasenkamp. Art was born in Eaton, CO. He served in the army in Europe during WWII. Upon his return, he married Doris Keith and returned to Colorado. He achieved masters degrees in nuclear and chemical engineering at the University of Denver. He graduated Summa Cum Laude. He worked for ACF where he was project director for the building and testing of the first themonuclear devices, and other nuclear weapons. His post-graduate work was at the Oak Ridge Tennessee Atomic Energy School. He then returned to Sandia Labs where he was a member of the nuclear reactor team. During his later years at Sandia labs, he made significant contributions to the application of X-ray technology in non-destructive testing in weapons and missile development. He retired after 32 years at Sandia National Labs as a senior member of the technical staff. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Herst -- Lois Herst, 64, a resident of Albuquerque for 25 years, died Friday, January 05, 2001. Hughes -- Dean C. Hughes, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1959, died Thursday, January 4, 2001. He is survived by his nieces, Karen A. Hughes of Albuquerque, who he raised as a daughter, Virginia Szabo and husband, Ed and Lynda Bingham and husband, Sylvan; nephew, Don Hughes and wife, Beverly, all of Topeka, KS; many other nieces and nephews; and sisters, Jene Rutan and husband, Howard and June Glenn, both of California. Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Hughes. He was a member of Highland Assembly of God for many years, and he worked with the Santa Fe Railroad. Jackson -- Richard "Dick" Jackson, 67, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, January 3, 2001. Klufa -- Faye Klufa, died Thursday, January 4, 2001, in Albuquerque at the age of 85. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, George A. Klufa; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Dale and Charlene A. LeMaster; three grandchildren, Leslie Ann Phillips, Tracy Dale LeMaster and Joni Dee Hardman; five great-grandchildren, Tiffanie and Trisha Massengale, Chad, Tyler and Whitney Hardman; and a host of nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Ona Reed, two sons, Billie Wayne and Eddie Ross LeMaster four sisters, Elva Elizabeth Carden, Lilli Olean Jeuken, Laura Marie Godbout and Joyce La Verne Wagoner; five brothers, Joseph William Reed, Coy Doyle Reed, Alvin Baylus Reed, Herschel Reed and Jesse J. Reed, and one granddaughter, Ellen Ricky. Faye was born in Floydada, TX in 1915, moved to San Jon, NM at a young age, where she grew up. In 1941, she moved to Albuquerque after living a short time in Belen. Faye worked as a salesperson at Paris Shoe Store, J.C. Penny, Montgomery Wards, Sears. She had received an Honorary National Life Membership in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). During her life she enjoyed cooking, playing bingo, oil painting and making jewelry. She was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1941, and an active member of Le Femmes, a ladies auxiliary of the American Legion. Services will be held Monday, 1:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Chaplain Robert Elliott officiating. Lane -- Sadie Ayer Lane, 92, died Friday, December 22, 2000, in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her nephews; Dave Park of Truth or Consequences, NM, Bill Park of Spring, TX, and Lewis Graham of Springerville, AZ; nieces, Kay Pritchett of Oolagah, OK, Pat Schallbrach of Lakeside, CA, and Frances Haussamen of Albuquerque; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Sadie was born on November 5, 1908, in Denver, CO and was raised in Sterling, CO, by her parents, William W. and Mary Catherine Ramsey. She was married to William Ayer who was Vice-Counsel to Northern Ireland during World War II. When he died in 1947, she moved to Albuquerque to be near family. Here she met and married Frank Lane, Jr., who predeceased her in 1997, as did her brother; Harry Ramsey of Omaha, NE, and sisters; Eleanor Park and Edna Graham, both of Albuquerque. Also predeceasing her were three nieces, Lois Micheels, Beverly Stewart and Connie Oetinger. She had worked at Sandia Base in personnel and had been retired for many years. She enjoyed her church work and caring for others. She will be remembered most for her generosity and kindness to all living things. Cremation has taken place. Lopez -- Cecilia Lopez ¯Lily¯, 71, passed away January 5, 2001 at her daughters home. She was a native New Mexican living in Las Vegas before moving to Albuquerque. Lily was a licensed practical nurse and retired after working many years at nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Sena, and is survived by her daughter, Alice Gallegos; three granddaughters, Frances, Gina, and Angelique; two grandsons, Scott and Rodney; two great-grandchildren Danielle, and Bubbadande; two sisters, Rachael Lucero, and Mary Sena; son-in-law, Frank Gallegos, and numerous other family and friends who loved and will miss her. Roybal -- Juan A. Roybal, 76, a resident of Pecos, NM, passed away on Friday at St. Vincent's Hospital in Santa Fe following a brief illness. He is survived by two brothers, Cornelio Roybal and his wife, Erlinda of Scottsdale, AZ and Larry Roybal and his wife, Socorro of Pecos, NM; three sisters, Maria Ruiz and her husband, Antonio of Colonias, NM, Tomasita Rodriguez and her husband, Estevan and Grace Gallegos all of Pecos; special nieces, Esther Quintana and her husband, Tito and Rosa Gallegos all of Pecos, NM, and Diane Pereda and her husband, Jorge of Lakewood, CO, and by other nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ramon and Candelaria Roybal and a sister, Nellie Brown. Mr. Roybal was a World War II Veteran, and had worked at one time at the Las Vegas Medical Center in Las Vegas, and was a school bus driver and mail carrier in the Pecos area. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. from the Santo Nino Church in Lower Colonias. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. from the same church. Williams -- Lois Trumble Williams, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1999, died Tuesday, January 2, 2001. She is survived by her daughter, Patte Patterson and husband, Jim of Seattle, WA; grandson, Peter Jensen and wife, Regina of Colorado springs, CO; her sister, Maurine Romme and husband, Howard of Albuquerque. In 1999 she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert of 53 years. Lois was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Roach, who died in 1997, and her brother, Maurice R. Trumble, who died in 1999. Lois attended UNM and was a member of Chi Omega sorority. After graduation in 1943, she joined the US Navy and served as communication officer LTjg in San Francisco until 1947. She lived in San Francisco and Seattle until Herb retired from the Boeing Corporation, after which the family moved to Arlington, TX. Lois continued with her love of music as part time teacher until she became executive secretary for C&H Trucking Co. of Dallas, TX. Most summers included a family reunion in Wagon Mound, NM with parents and grandparents, Maurice W. and Grace Trumble. Since moving to Albuquerque, Lois was active in Sanado Women's Club and St. Luke Lutheran Church. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul Blvd. NE, at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2001 with Pastor Harold Nilsson, officiating. Zamora -- Margarito A. Zamora, age 92, passed away January 4, 2001 in Santa Rosa following an illness. Margarito was born January 29, 1908 in Potrillo, NM to the home of Pablo and Adelaida Alarid Zamora. He was reared in Potrillo and Puerto De Luna. Margarito married Faustina Lucero on February 15, 1935 in Santa Rosa. He worked as a sheepherder and for the Southern Pacific Railroad for over 33 years. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish and the Railroad Union. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Faustina, his son, Raymond Zamora, a granddaughter, Marlene Zamora, his brothers, and sisters, Transita Sandoval, Rosa Chavez, Conrada Marquez, Otilia Sandoval, Genoveva Serna, Filiberto Zamora and Fermin Zamora. Survivors include his grandchildren, Raymond Zamora and wife, Susan of Santa Rosa, Johnny Zamora and wife, Maria of Tierra Amarilla, Jake Zamora and wife, Sylvia of Albuquerque, Roberta Nimmons and husband, Winslow of Tucson, AZ, Christine Sanchez and husband, Gilbert of Santa Rosa, Robert Zamora and wife, Sunshine of Santa Rosa and Justin Zamora of Santa Rosa; a daughter-in-law, Julia Zamora of Santa Rosa; and a sister-in-law, Otilia Zamora of Fort Sumner; also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Ray Zamora, Daniel Zamora, Michael Zamora, Katie Zamora, Bianca Zamora, Antoinette Zamora, Victoria Zamora, Mariquita Zamora, Jacob Zamora, John Zamora Christopher Sanchez, Veronica Sanchez, Joaquin Sanchez, Robert Zamora and Adrianna Zamora.
