Arvizu -- Mrs. Francisca Arvizu died Thursday in Albuquerque at the age of 69. Funeral services for Mrs. Arvizu will be held on Saturday at the San Jose Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Campos -- Joseph L. Campos, age 19, a beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle and nephew, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 10, 2000. Joseph is survived by his mother, Mary Trujillo; father, Joe Trujillo; two brothers, Paul Campos and Pat Garcia; three sisters, Michelle Garcia, Marcella Trujillo and Tina Aguilar; maternal grandmother, Marcella Campos; step-grandfather, Carlos Jaramillo; a special nephew, Jeffery Oberbeck; several aunts, uncles and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Visitations will be held on Monday, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary, located at 8th and Iron. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10:00 a.m., at Santuario de San Martin Church, 8321 Camino San Martin SW. Interment will follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Gary Campos, Arthur Campos, Paul Campos, Raymond Quintana, Alfred Campos and Manny Lucero. Honorary casket bearers will be Ernest Campos, Eugene Lucero and Carlos Jaramillo. Final viewing will be held Tuesday morning, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. Funeral services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave. SW.

Carman -- Mervin D. Carman, 80, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2000. Carman was born April 19, 1920 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He grew up and graduated from high school in Martinsville, Indiana, where he played on the football and basketball teams. He entered the US Army at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, IN in 1942 and served as an air to ground, point to point radio transmitter/receiver operator. He was awarded the Asian-Pacific Service Medal for duties performed in Hawaii in 1943. Carmen met Charlotte Virginia Hobson after the close of WWII and they married on August 24, 1946 and raised their children. They moved to Albuquerque in 1985 after Carman retired from R.R. Donnelly and Sons Company, where he served primarily as a line up pressman for 40 years. Carman will be remembered by those close to him as a loving father, a quiet, gentle man with an enduring love for reading and an enthusiasm for spectator sports-in particular, college basketball and professional golf-and will be missed by friends in his bridge circles. He was also an avid fisherman. Carman was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Carman; and sisters, Catherine Carman and Madge Corbin. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte of Albuquerque; two children, Susan Spiegel and her husband, Bryan of Albuquerque, Neil Carman and his wife, Julie of Huntington Beach, CA; one sister, Betty Carrington of Crawfordsville, IN; five grandchildren, Michael Smith and wife, Elizabeth of Albuquerque, Angela McNatt and husband, Kevin of Bedford, TX, Michelle Smith of Bedford, TX, Shaun and Miranda Carman of Huntington Beach, CA; and one great-grandchild, Matthew Spiegel McNatt. A Memorial service for friends and family will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2000 at the Sombra Del Monte Christian Church, where Carman was a member for 15 years. Officiating will be The Rev. Daniel Kapornyai. The church is located one half block north of Menaul and four blocks west of Wyoming at 2528 Utah NE. Chavez -- Carlos Chavez, lifelong resident of Albuquerque, 69, born May 3, 1931, died in the care of his loving family after a year-long battle with cancer on May 11, 2000. He is survived by his children, Videla Chavez, Debbie and husband, Steve Larson, Karl Chavez and wife, Kathleen, Adolph Chavez and wife, Frances, Tammy and husband, Bill Evans, and Anthony (Tony) Chavez and wife, Jackie; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, Delfino Chavez and Siegfredo Chavez. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen. Carlos served in the U.S. Navy for six years, then worked as an wireman for 44 years; he was a member of the IBEW local 611 during those 44 years of service. Carlos was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a friend to all who knew him, and was a wonderfully, caring person who will be missed by many friends and acquaintances along with his loving family. Family members would like to thank the staff at UNM Cancer Research Center and UNM Hospice for their genuine efforts and the benevolent care he received. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 5:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Deacon Ruben Barela. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, 12:00 noon, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE, with Father Johnny Lee Chavez, Celebrant. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Anthony Chavez, Adolph Chavez, Emilio Chavez, Victor Perea, Bill Evans and Steve Larson. Gonzales -- Pauline Gonzales, 88, a lifelong resident of the Albuquerque area, passed away peacefully at Lovelace Hospital on Thursday, May 11, 2000. She is survived by her only daughter, Jeanne Breck and husband, Bert of Belen; two grandchildren, Stewart Breck of Belen and Stephanie McCorkle and husband, Wayne of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Gonzales, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Her heritage was the C De Baca's of Bernalillo. In her early life, she spent time serving at the Dog House drive-in and diner. After this, her priority was being a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 13, 2000, 11:30 a.m., at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum Chapel, 7500 Paseo del Norte NE, with Father Domingo Gumpal, Celebrant. Klingler -- Quentin Guy Klingler, 75, was born August 24, 1924, in St. Anthony, Idaho, to Karl C. and Genevieve Cardon Klingler. He was drafted out of the University of Utah to fight for the U.S. Army in Belgium and France during World War II. After recovering from a wound, he returned to the United States, served on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and completed research and a degree in physics at the University of Utah. He and Cynthia Kaufman Klingler married in 1964. He worked as a health physicist and a nuclear physicist until the late 1980s. After he retired, he served as a constant consultant to both the U.S. government and his children. He died May 10, 2000. He will be desperately missed by many friends and relatives, his children, and his canine companions, Bill and Penny. Viewing will be Saturday, May 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., at French's Mortuary on Wyoming. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Manit -- Nancy Ann Holston Thacker Sowanick Manit began another spiritual journey on May 10, 2000, planting day, at her home in Albuquerque. She was 61 years old and is survived by her seven children, Brenda Sue, Karen Lee, Steven Brett, Laura Kim, Scott Kenneth, Kira Aniya, and Paul Jesse III; her 24 grandchildren and her three great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are husband, Harvey Lee Thacker and Paul Jesse Sowanick II; and brother, Jack Holston. She really didn't like the fact that the white man killed off the buffalo. She embraced all religions, all people, all animals (except porcupines). Contributions can be made in her name to Cornucopia Adult Daycare Center and Homemaker Services, 877-1310. Prayers and service will be held on Saturday, May 13 at her home at 2003 Brown Rd. Martignoni -- Mauro Emilio Martignoni, 30 October 1926, Lugano, Switzgerland - 26 April 2000, Albuquerque. Mauro came to the United States in 1950 and loved his work as professor and research microbiologist at the University of California, Berkeley, and later at the Forestry Sciences Laboratory, USDA, in Corvallis, Oregon. Mauro retired to Albuquerque and participated enthusiastically with the New Mexico Science Fair. Mauro is survived by his wife, Marie Louise di Suvero; sons, Enrico Angiolo of France and Nevada, and Matteo Lorenzo of India and California; sister, Lorenza of Lugano; brothers-in-law, Marcello Giovanardi, Victor, Mark, and Henry di Suvero and their Families. Memorial Masses have been offered in New Mexico, Switzerland, and India. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the NW New Mexico Regional Science and Engineering Fair, Onate Hall, Room 131, Albuquerque, NM 87131.

Mendoza -- Lucy A. Mendoza, 65, a resident of Los Lunas, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2000. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Lucy was born to Vicente and Dominica Avalos in Magdaline, NM on October 14, 1934. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dominica Avalos; her two sisters, Antonia Torres and Rita Mora; three brothers, Tranquelino, Jody and Henry Avalos. She is survived by her loving husband, Pilar of the family home in Los Lunas; her ten loving children; six daughters, Patricia Atwood and her husband, Jim, Maryann Trujillo and her husband, Leroy, Sandy Mendoza and her fiance, Ismael Diaz, Brenda Mendoza and her fiance, Tommy Pacheco, Ignacita Munoz and her husband, Gustavo, and Ernestina Mendoza; her four sons, Pilar Jr. and his wife, Perla, Eloy Mendoza and his wife, Lisa, Fermin Mendoza, Jonathan Mendoza and Annabell Felix; 20 loving grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her father, Vicente Avalos of Socorro, NM; her sister, Rosemary Anzures; her two brothers, Pedro Avalos and Ernesto Avalos and his wife, Shirley. She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Rosary will be held on Saturday, 7:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home. A second Rosary will be held on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. also at Romero Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta. She is survived by her daughters, Isabel Bonney and husband, George, Patricia Diaz and husband, Carlos, Nina Maloney and husband, Ken, Della Boyd and husband, Ben and Irene Sandoval; sons, George Sandoval and wife, Henrietta, and Mike Sandoval; 11 grandchildren, Cindy Bonney, Carol Bonney, Veronica Bonney, Gail Jasteleky, Paul Jasteleky, Aaron Boyd, Darris Boyd, Sean Maloney, Katrina Sandoval, Vanessa Sandoval, and Yolanda Sandoval; and sister, Rosa Pacheco and husband, Archie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elias Sandoval, February 1977; father and mother, Salvador and Cleotilde Valdez; sisters, Elena Olguin and Lucia Romero; and grandchild, Benny Boyd in 1970. Mrs. Sandoval was born in Mora, NM, September 14, 1919. She married Elias Sandoval in 1937. They then moved to Wagon Mound, NM in 1938, then to Cheyenne, WY in 1951 and then to Albuquerque in 1986.
