Lucy A. Mendoza, 65, a resident of Los Lunas, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2000. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Lucy was born to Vicente and Dominica Avalos in Magdaline, NM on October 14, 1934. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dominica Avalos; her two sisters, Antonia Torres and Rita Mora; three brothers, Tranquelino, Jody and Henry Avalos. She is survived by her loving husband, Pilar of the family home in Los Lunas; her ten loving children; six daughters, Patricia Atwood and her husband, Jim, Maryann Trujillo and her husband, Leroy, Sandy Mendoza and her fiance, Ismael Diaz, Brenda Mendoza and her fiance, Tommy Pacheco, Ignacita Munoz and her husband, Gustavo, and Ernestina Mendoza; her four sons, Pilar Jr. and his wife, Perla, Eloy Mendoza and his wife, Lisa, Fermin Mendoza, Jonathan Mendoza and Annabell Felix; 20 loving grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her father, Vicente Avalos of Socorro, NM; her sister, Rosemary Anzures; her two brothers, Pedro Avalos and Ernesto Avalos and his wife, Shirley. She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Rosary will be held on Saturday, 7:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home. A second Rosary will be held on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. also at Romero Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta. Interment will follow in the Valencia Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eloy, Pilar, Jonathan, and Fermin Mendoza, Justin Atwood and Tommy Pacheco. Honorary pallbearers will be Rhiannon, Cassandra, and Josh Mendoza, Juan Carlos Trujillo, Joe Valenzuela, Monica Montano, and Stephanie Barreras. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen, NM.
