Hoffman -- Eileen Shiel Hoffman--On Friday, January 22, 1999, our sister lost her struggle with cancer at 9:50 a.m. Eileen passed into her new life at her home in Los Lunas. She was born in Albuquerque on January 21, 1959. Eileen is survived by her husband of 20 years, Larry Hoffman; her brother, Patrick; sisters, Marie, Deirdre, Renee; and her mother, Joyce Shiel. Also surviving are a super sister-in-law, Reba Shiel; three wonderful brothers-in-law, Tim Requsis, Craig Beaudry, and John Gordon; nephews and nieces, Joshua Spencer, Cole, Joyce, Jennifer and Jessica; and step-daughters, Marilyn, Amber and Alicia. We are all greatly saddened by our loss, but grateful her battle with pain is over. Eileen was never materialistic, her joys came from giving of herself. Her heart of gold and her smile that was heaven sent made everyone feel special. On April 24, 1978, Eileen married Larry. They shared a bond of friendship, respect, and have a bond that will never be replaced or forgotten. As always, Eileen was in charge of every detail to the very end, and as always Larry has carried out all of her final wishes. Eileen donated her earthly remains to the UNM School of Medicine for study and research. In keeping with her wishes, there will not be a memorial service, however, the family suggests that friends may make contributions, in Eileen's name, to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation, 4901 Main Street, Suite #200, Kansas City, Missouri 64112, 1-800-PKD-CURE. These contributions would be a fitting memorial for Eileen and may provide the cure for the one thousand americans who, like Eileen, suffer from this illness. Finally, we offer our heartfelt gratitude to the many medical professionals who, over the years, have cared for Eileen. We know you have given us added years of love and joy in the company of our sister. God bless us all. Larry Hoffman, The Beaudry, Gordon, Requsis and Sheil Families. Eileen, my darling, I love you with every fiber of my being. You have always been my comfort and my joy, and most of all, my strength. I have been so very blessed to have shared your life, and I hope that I have returned to you, in some small way, the gentle grace and happiness you gave to me. I shall always remember all that we have shared, the years you've made me so very happy, your advice and encouragement, all the sweet things you've done, the laughter, the fun, all the wonderful memories, your caring and compassion for others around you, has earned you a place with our Heavenly Father, so, rest now, my love, free from the pain that was your cross to bear far so many years. Remember, always, I love you with all my heart. Larry
