Barb -- Gail L. Barb, Sr., 72, a resident of Albuquerque for 26 years, died Saturday June 20, 1998. He is survived by his daughter, Paula Barb; son, James Barb and wife, Michelle; grandchildren, Aimee, Julian, and Stephanie all of Albuquerque; brothers, Bruce Barb and wife, Emily of OH, Paul Barb and wife, Tasnee of FL; sisters, Juanita Arens of OH, and Nancy David and husband, Mel of WV; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Garland and husband, Dale of TX, Peggy Pfeufer of NV, Margaret Rogers of OK; brother-in-law, Bob Morris and wife, Lil of NV, Joe Meyer of OK; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Barb in 1995; and by his son, Gail L."Rusty" Barb in 1976. Mr. Barb was a veteran of US Army and served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd Chapel, 1111 University Blvd NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd, NE. Bayless -- J. Fred Bayless, former longtime resident and Christian minister in Albuquerque, passed away peacefully in Craig, Colorado, on Wednesday, June 17, 1998, just days before his 94th birthday. He was born June 19, 1904 in Indian Territory, now the state of Oklahoma. Although he quit high school to help support his seven siblings, he later graduated from Johnson Bible College in Tennessee, where he met and married Louise McCamy in 1933. He taught at the college and later served in preaching ministries in Selma, AL; Eureka, KS; Medicine Lodge, KS; Crowell, TX; Albuquerque, NM; Clovis, NM; and Pueblo, CO. He served as minister of Ridgecrest Christian Church in Albuquerque from 1952-1961. He helped found several Bible colleges in the Midwest, and served for 40 years as forwarding agent for his son, David, missionary in Brazil. After retirement from active ministry, he continued to serve as elder in the church here. His beloved wife, Louise preceded him in death in 1992. Fred moved to Colorado in 1996. He is survived by son, David Bayless of Belem, Brazil; daughter, Anne Carr of Craig, CO; grandchildren, Joanne Stanford of Wichita, KS, John Bayless of Albuquerque, Anne Bayless of Belem, Brazil, Keith and Carolyn Carr of Craig; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Ridgecrest Christian Church at San Mateo near Gibson, on Friday, June 26, at 1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be designated to the Ridgecrest Mission Fund in memory of Fred Bayless.

Burrell -- I.V. Mae Burrell, 92, a resident of Belen, passed away on Friday, June 19, 1998. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church. I.V. was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Onous Burrell in 1960; her son, Hershell in 1944; baby Roy in 1937 and James in 1985. She is survived by her two sons, Coy Burrell and his wife, Shirley Ann of Clovis, NM and Bob and his wife, Suzy of Rio Rancho, NM; eight grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters and her many loving nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be celebrated on Monday, 10:00 a.m., at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Coy, Bob and Wayne Burrell, Allan Jesko, David Feldkamp and Sean Little. Honorary pallbearers will be Merle Schalber, Frank Parker, Dick Ralston, Henry Lamkin and Frank Fullington. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Carrillo -- Deborah Ann Carrillo passed away on June 10, 1998 in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her son, Carlos Carrillo. Chavez -- Anastasia"Annie" Chavez, 86, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, June 18, 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Marian Effinger and husband, Albert of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Kathryn Richard and Thomas Evans, both of Reno, NV, James Effinger of Albuquerque, Robert Effinger of Fair Oaks, CA, and Christina Scott and husband, Tom; and children, Nicole and Greg, all of Albuquerque; and one great-grandchild, Anastasia Richard of Reno, NV. Mrs. Chavez is preceded in death by her husband, Alex Chavez in 1991. They were married for 22 years. She worked for 21 years at the Lucky Dozen Donut Shop. Cheney -- Minnie B. Cheney, 99, formerly of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, June 16, 1998 in Lubbock, TX. Minnie, the third of eight children, was born to Erasmus Manford Behymer and Sarah Elizabeth Ford Behymer on February 25, 1899, in Newkirk, OK. While Minnie was a young child, her family moved from Oklahoma to the Estancia Valley, where her father homesteaded. She is survived by her son, Ed Cheney and wife, Estelle of Durango, CO; grandchildren, Britt Fraim, Barbara Zeiher, Patsy Mayo, Bob Brittain, Rick Brittain, Jon Cheney, Cindy Brent, and Becky Gauthier; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Minnie was preceded in death by her children, Ruth B. Fraim, Robert Brittain, and Richard Brittain. Davidson -- Josephine Kenzora Davidson, 83, a resident of Carlsbad, NM died Friday, June 19, 1998. She is survived by her sons, Richard M. Davidson and wife, Jamie of Albuquerque, James C. Davidson and wife, Elizabeth of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Holly B. Mitchell and husband, Jim, Rebecca A. Davidson, Carrie L. Davidson all of Albuquerque, and Jesse R. Drake -- Walter Russell Drake, 73, a resident of Edgewood, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 1998. Mr. Drake was born in Spring City, TN on November 14, 1924. He was honorably discharged from the US Army after serving with the 7th Infantry in the Italian Campaign during WWII. Mr. Drake retired from Sandia National Laboratory in 1988 after 41 years service. He is survived by his wife, Opal Drake of the family home; son, Tony Drake and wife, Lorraine of Farmington; daughter, Amanda Drake of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Kenny Drake and wife, Missy of Farmington, Shawna Drake, Christopher Cordeiro and Hollie Cordeiro, all of Albuquerque; great-granddaughters, Ashlee and Desi Drake, both of Farmington, NM; and a brother, A.L. Eubank -- Wayne C. Eubank, age 90, a resident of Albuquerque died Thursday in a local nursing home following a prolonged illness. Fisher -- Twila P. Fisher, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998. She is survived by her son, James P. Fisher of Albuquerque; sisters, Mary McFarland of Indianapolis, IN and Martha Black of Apache Junction, AZ; brothers, James Elder and wife, Joan of Shelbyville, IN and Kenneth Elder of Crawfordsville, IN; niece, Connie Burress and husband, John of Albuquerque; and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris P. Fisher in 1982. Mrs. Fisher was born on September 30, 1917 in Crawfordsville, IN, the daughter of C.V. and Gladys M. (Walter) Patton. She graduated from Forest, IN High School and also from Terhune Secretarial College. Mrs. Fisher was a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, a business and professional women's organization in Shelbyville, IN. She was a charter member of Soroptimist International of Albuquerque Heights. Mrs. Fisher worked in the small loan department of Farmers Bank and was the manager of American Security Company in Shelbyville, IN. She married Morris P. Fisher on May 20, 1939 and they moved to Albuquerque on December 30, 1948. Mrs. Fisher worked for P.F. McCanna, Inc. from February 1949 to December 1953. In 1954, she began working for D.W. Eakin Company Realtors as office manager, and worked there until the day of her death. Services will be held Monday, 3:00 p.m., at Chester T. Gaussoin -- Edmond Gaussoin, 77, died on June 19, 1998. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and great-uncle. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dena; his children and their spouses, Sandra and Gary Haug, Sharon Reed, Roch and Priscilla Gaussoin, Helen Gaussoin and Brett Woods, Kristofer and Terri Gaussoin. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, Flannery and Martin Haug, Justin Gaussoin, Dena, Erin, Mallory and Michael Reed, and Maren Gaussoin Woods as well as by his widowed daughter-in-law, Theresa Flores; and his sister, Theresa Gaussoin; her daughter, Tesa; and her two children. He was preceded in death by his son, Martin and infant son, Dirk; and his brothers and sisters, Clarence, Louise, Herbert and Clara. He dedicated his adult life to children and education. He was born in Watrous and attended Las Vegas High School where he was All-State in football. He received a Bachelors in physical education and a Masters in chemistry from Highlands University and was a teacher and coach in high schools in Springer, Reserve and Estancia. After teaching in Lawndale, CA, and working as the Director of the Fresno California Teachers Association, he returned to NM as State of Director of the National Education Association-New Mexico. He was Superintendent of the Gadsden School District near Las Cruces and after retiring was director of the New Mexico School Administrators. He was a past member of numerous educational organizations. Until his death, he was a volunteer with the American Association of Retired Persons. He was an Officer of the New Mexico Educational Retirees and a board member of the Retiree Health Care Authority. He was well known at the Legislature where he had lobbied on education and elderly issues for more than 20 years. The family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church in La Cienega. Reception to follow mass at the La Cienega Community Center.

Green -- Katherine (Kitty) Carlene Green, 53, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 1998 at Pickard Presbyterian Convalescent Center. She died of complications related to Muscular Dystrophy, which she suffered from her entire life. She was born on July 1, 1944 in Houston, TX to Carl V. Green (deceased) and Alice L. Green. She is survived by her mother, Alice L. Van Baak and step-father, Paul H. Van Baak. Although handicapped and unable to work normally, Kitty was very active in handicapped activities related to horseback riding. She was Queen of Little Britches Rodeo and won many ribbons in riding activities. She was a High School graduate, played piano in convalescent homes, sang in church choirs, and taught youngsters in Sunday School. For many years she was always willing to help others whenever she could. A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Presbyterian Pickard Convalescent Center, on Friday, June 26, 1998, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Kitty and the family request donations be made to Sandia Presbyterian Church Bible Memorial Fund, 10704 Paseo del Norte NE, Albuquerque, NM 87122. Jamison -- Barbara Jamison died at age 84 on June 6, 1998 in Chevy Chase, Maryland; she had been in failing health following a fall three months earlier. She was born in Albuquerque in 1914 an grew up there. Her father was Harold Jamison, Albuquerque City Attorney in the nineteen twenties and a prominent attorney in the state until his death in 1929; her mother, Edna Jamison, neé Johnson. She attended the University of New Mexico, graduating in 1936. Although she lived mot of her life in Washington, D.C., she loved the New Mexican Southwest more than any other area. As an adolescent she wrote a poem about an experience at ruins at Tomé south of AlbuquerqueOf Which Memories Are MadeI sit on a wall. As I sit I am facing the setting sun Near me a blooming crab-apple tree Is drooping its delicately leaved Pink and white boughs in all directions. It is rhythmic as is a tree That has weathered all the winds. Its blossoms exhale a sweet yet acrid odor I should be content--I would be If I might hear the church-bells ringing Would it be wise to lie to myself-- To say that I hear them? The lie would make a lovelier memoryAt the residential complex in Washington, D.C. where she lived she was esteemed for tenacious integrity, wit, memory, family loyalty, and political beliefs affirming human rights of all peoples; she was a non-conformist, putting into practice her strong beliefs in self reliance and frugality. She is survived by a brother, Hal Jamison of Ashland, Oregon and a sister, Mary Gustafson of Yakima and Vashon Island, Washington. A non religious memorial service will be held at Fairview Cemetery on Thursday, June 25, 1998 at 3:00 p.m. One will also be held in Washington, D.C. at a time to be determined. Killion -- Shirley K. Killion, 89, died June 15, 1998. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon D. Killion; and her grandson, Mark D. Clawson. She is survived by her son, Thomas K. Killion of Santa Fe; her daughter, Joan Killion Clawson of Albuquerque; her brother, Graydon Killion of Alpine, TX; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Killion moved to Albuquerque in 1988 from Des Moines, Iowa, where she had been a resident for 40 years. She taught piano for many years and was active in the Des Moines Community Playhouse and the Des Moines Women's Club. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for over 40 years. Leyba -- Josefita B. Leyba (Pepa) died in her sleep June 18, 1998, at her home in Pena Blanca, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband, Atilano Leyba; and her son, Alvin Leyba. She is survived by seven children, Eva and husband, Paul, Martha and husband, Ray, Ursula and husband, Felix, Rosalia and husband, Wayne, Katy and husband, Freddie, Virginio and wife, Tita, and Bella Lopez; 26 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; brother, David and wife, Virginia; sisters, Dora and Mary; and many nieces and nephews. Lucero -- Frank Lucero - Born August 21, 1921, passed away June 19, 1998, in Laughlin, Nevada, while vacationing, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Fela Gallegos Lucero; daughter, Elizabeth Lucero Wilson (DeeDee) and husband, Gary N. Wilson; sons, Frank E. Lucero and wife, Shari Rollins Lucero, and Gregory J. Lucero; grandchildren; Christopher G. Wilson, Melissa F. Wilson, Mark E. Lucero and Kimberly M. Lucero; sister, Aurelia Rey and husband, Marcial; brother, Ernest Lucero and wife, Margaret; brothers-in-law, John Gallegos and wife, Adeline and Louise Torres all of Albuquerque; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Salome Lucero; brother, Orlando Lucero; sister, Beatrice L. Torres; and his parents-in-law, J.O. and Ofelia Gallegos. Frank graduated from Albuquerque High School, served in the Army overseas during World War II, and retired from Sandia National Laboratory in 1981 after 30 years of employment. During retirement he participated actively in Senior Softball playing with the Barelas Tigers the past five years. He was an Avid Lobo Fan, having following UNM athletics since the 1930's. Frank was also a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, June 22, 1998, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Okronglis -- Sister Mary Boniface Okronglis, 76, of Rio Rancho, NM died Friday June 19, 1998, at a local hospital. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Stetz of Albuquerque, and Agnes Guzik of Rosvile, MI. Sister Mary Boniface was Felician-Franciscan Sister for fifty-two years. She had worked in food service in recent years and had been a primary school teacher prior to becoming an accomplished chef. Services for Sister Mary Boniface will be held on Monday, June 22, 1998, at the Felician Sisters Convent, 4210 Meadowlark Lane, SE, Rio Rancho, NM. Otero -- Victoriana"Nana" Otero, 95, a resident of Albuquerque passed away Friday, June 19, 1998. She was born on September 11, 1902, in Tome, NM to Manuel and Marcelina Baca. She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Lovato and husband, Benny, Antonia (Toni) Herrera; grandchildren, Jeanette Trujillo and Fiance, Mike Gonzales, Michael Gallegos and Fiance, Ruby Chavez, Mary Denise Herrera and Fiance, Matt Lucero, Valerie Nieto and husband, Steven; great-grandchildren, Louise, Monica, Michael, Mark, Antonio, Lorissa, Victoria, Anthony, Heaven, Ashley, Dominic, Kelly, Matthew, Nicholas, Robert; half-brother, Frank Orona; many relatives, friends, and neighbors. Visitations will be held Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Garcia Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. also in the Chapel. Pyszko -- Mrs. Sharon Nancy Pyszko, 51, a resident of Los Lunas, passed on June 19, 1998, at home with her loved ones at her side. Mrs. Pyszko is survived by her beloved husband of thirty-one years, Edwin Pyszko; two daughters, Tara Pyszko and Kari Pyszko; three sons, Greg Pyszko, Eric Pyszko and Matthew Pyszko; three sisters, Jackie Watkins, Joann McKinnon, and Shirley Sanchez; two grandchildren, Brandon Taylor and Tanner Seaberg; two nieces, Lisa Brockway and Jamie Watkins. Mrs. Pyszko was a member of the catholic church. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Peralta, NM, from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. by Deacon Joe Trujillo. Quintana -- Celso Quintana, a ranch hand for over 30 years, died April 4, at his home in Pittsburg, CA. He was 86. The native of Alamo Gordo, NM, lived in Pittsburg, CA for eight years. He last worked for Sam Hill Ranch in Bernalillo, NM. He also worked for various dairy farms in New Mexico. He was raised in Bernalillo, NM. He enjoyed walking and the outdoors. He is survived by his daughter, Genevieve Zaste of Pittsburg, CA; son, Frank D. Quintana of Arlington, VA; sisters, Tommie Farfan of Farmington, NM, Rosie Baca, Ella Perea and Vickie Burkeholder, all of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Silvestro -- Kenneth F.A. Silvestro, 55, passed away on June 13, 1998 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was a president of Albuquerque for 27 years. He is survived by his wife, Judith of the family home; beloved brother, Louis E. Silvestro Jr. and wife, Ann of Chandler, AZ and their children, Louis E. Silvestro III (Eddie) and wife, Roseann and their children, Elizabeth, Christopher and Nicholas, Steven M. Silvestro and wife, Laura and their children, Sean and Haley, Lynne Harris and husband, Calvin and their daughter, Noah, all of Arizona; his sister-in-law, Lynn O'Keefe and husband, Frank; and niece, Shannon; sister-in-law, Lorrie Seaman; and nephew, Craig; his father-in-law, Joseph Seaman, all of New Jersey. He is also survived by his"Brother in Love" Anthony Monfiletto and wife, Nancy and their children, Ernest W. Monfiletto and his son, Justice, Anthony Monfiletto and wife, Lauri and their son, Max, Jennifer Mancha and husband, Raul, all of Albuquerque, Ernest Minfiletto and wife, Jill of Nevada; and many aunts, uncles and cousins of Rhode Island, CA; and very good friend, Pete Thome of Albuquerque. He co-founded and operated ITSA ITALIAN ICE of Albuquerque. He also owned and operated the NEW LUCKY'S PIZZA for many years. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Newman Center on UNM campus on June 20, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, his wife requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in his name.
