Valdez -- Richard (Dick) R. Valdez, Sr., 66, a beloved and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend was welcomed into the arms of the Lord our Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, November 28, 2001, after a long illness. Dick will be missed tremendously by everyone who had the honor of knowing him. He was a kind and generous man who befriended everyone he met. Dick was a Charter member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter III, and of the American Legion Post 100. He is survived by his loving children, Bernice Rivera and husband, Emilio, Julie Montano and husband, Paul, Richard Valdez and wife, Christine, Victoria Springer and husband, Jim; his precious grandchildren, Michael, Marc, Brian, Beau, Jessica, and Nicholas. Also surviving are two sisters, Esther Ramirez, Mary Montoya; very dear friends were Helen Chavez, Cynthia Valencia, and Ebenia (Binnie) Martinez; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of other friends. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho. Inurnment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Funeral Services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth Street NW, 898-3160.
