Rubio -- Edward G. Rubio, 80, a lifelong New Mexico resident, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2001. He was born on October 13, 1921 in Brilliant, NM. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, June Anita Rubio; children, Joe and Vera Galle, Dan and Ginny Koonce; five grandchildren, Joey, Abraham, Lucas, Danielle, and Laura; four sisters, Susie Young, Nellie Johnson and husband, Ben, Melinda Sanders, and Maria Chavez and husband, Ben; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Valentina. Mr. Rubio was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Silver Star for Conspicuous Gallantry in Action. He was also awarded Two Purple Hearts. Mr. Rubio was a life member of the DAV, American Legion Post 49, Veteran of Foreign Wars #401, Purple Heart 2484, Paralyzed Veteran's of America and The Ballut Abyad Legion of Honor. Cremation has taken place and memorial rosary will be recited Monday, December 3, 2001, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Patricio and Tillie Cruz reciting. A Prayer service will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2001, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, with Deacon Andy Chavez officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
