Besse -- Johann "Hans" W. Besse, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on May 16, 2001, on his 43rd wedding anniversary. His devoted wife, Ursula Besse and only child, Barbara Besse-Brewer were there to surround him in love and comfort him in his final moments. He is further survived by his two grandsons, Cooper and Spencer Besse-Brewer; son-in-law, Matthew Besse-Brewer; sister, Elisabet Speck and niece, Karin Schaefer (both of Germany). Hans, born on September 30, 1931 in Gladbeck, Germany was the son of Johann Besse and Maria Schmelzer Besse. His strong will enabled him to fight his illnesses with hope, grace and dignity. His beautiful blue eyes, humor and loving spirit will be greatly missed. As a brother of the masons, his Memorial Service will be held in Mesa Lodge #68 located at 538 Dallas SE, on Monday, May 21, 2001 at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Johann Besse Memorial Fund c/o The American Lung Association, 216 Truman NE, 87108.
