Doty -- Joe Doty, 63, loving husband, father, and grandfather, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away after a short illness Thursday, July 5, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife, Denise Doty of Albuquerque; daughters, Jody Curry and husband, Walter of Gilbert, AZ, Shalmarie Cooley and husband, Larry of Bosque Farms and Jolynn ťGibbyť Berger and husband, Paul of Albuquerque; son, Billy Doty and wife, Jennice of Gilbert, AZ; grandsons, Casey and Lane Doty, Clifford and Matthew Curry; granddaughters, Kirbi Doty and Laramie Cooley; sisters, Thelma Riley of Las Cruces and Mildred Denton and husband, Phil of Albuquerque; brothers, Jesse Doty and wife, Virginia of Estancia and Morris Doty and wife, Patti of Gallup; and a large extended family and many friends who will miss him very much. Mr. Doty was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served as an ordinance worker. One of his greatest pleasures was playing with his band, Joe Doty and the Good Ole Boys, which he started 10 years ago. Mr. Doty was a member of the New Mexico Fiddlers Association and a champion fiddler. He was an active supporter of 4-H and had raced horses in New Mexico since 1967. Mr. Doty was a longtime Indian Trader. He was always there to help a friend. Services will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sage Chapel 3rd Ward, 8130 Sage Rd. SW, with Bishop Darrel Rasband, presiding. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Tom Tatum, Lee Baca, Richard Twilley, Richard Polk, Kevin Crow, Mark Hopkins, Marcelino Lucero and Paul Gomez. Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Drannon. Friends may visit The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sage Chapel, one hour prior to service for viewing. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
