Gonzales -- Joe M. Gonzales, 77, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, April 5, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emma Gonzales of the family home; one daughter, Barbara Stouffer and husband, Spence of Hilton Head, SC; one son, Joe Gonzales and wife, Beth of Farmington, NM; seven grandchildren, Brian Jett, Allison McNabb and husband, Ian, Spencer Stouffer and wife, Kit, Jennifer Newton and husband, Trey, Leanne Gonzales, David Gonzales, Rick Gonzales; two great-granddaughters, Jessica and Emma; three sisters, Mary Jane Baca and Katherine Chavez, both of Albuquerque, and Gloria Castillo and husband, Lorenzo of Belen; and two brothers, Felix Gonzales and wife, Esther of Rio Rancho and Danny Gonzales and wife, Emily of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Margarita Gonzales, and two sisters, Teri VanDame and Virginia Gonzales. Mr. Gonzales was a life member of the Catholic Church. He retired from Civil Service in 1985. Mr. Gonzales worked for Judge Bert Cosgrove until his 2nd retirement in 1997. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4227. Mr. Gonzales was an avid golfer who enjoyed fishing, playing poker with his many friends, and traveling. Rosary will be recited Sunday, April 8, 2001, 7;00 p.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE, with Deacon Lorenzo Castillo reciting. Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 9, 2001, 9:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, with Father Domingo Gumpal and Deacon Lorenzo Castillo, Celebrants. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lester Wendlick, Lou Jancula, Rich Coffel, Isaac C. Martinez, Fred Bachicha, and Melcor Zamora. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Sunday, April 8, 2001, 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m.
