Morse -- Donald E. Morse, a longtime Albuquerque resident, died Saturday, February 3, 2001. He is survived by Kathy, his wife of 41 years; daughter, Kelly Sullivan and husband, Marty; son, Dan Morse and wife, Kim; granddaughters, Sarah, Amanda, Stephanie, Julia Sullivan and Kaitlyn Morse; grandson, Kyle Morse. Don is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Janell Morse; brother and sister-in-law, Jim Morgans and Diane Donaghy; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol and Bill Gregory; special cousin, Dorothy Kendall; cousin, Charles Cooper; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Don was born October 19, 1932 in St. Louis, MO. After his father's death, he and his mother and brother moved to Albuquerque in 1938 where he attended elementary and junior high school. He attended Santa Fe High School and graduated in 1950. Don played football, basketball, and baseball at Santa Fe High where he received many athletic honors including selection to the All District Basketball and All State Football teams. Don attended the University of New Mexico on a football scholarship and was a member of UNMs 1952 National Defensive football team. He was inducted into UNM's Athletic Hall of Honor as a member of that team. Upon college graduation in 1954, Don attended Air Force Navigation School and received his wings in 1955. After his discharge in 1958, he joined the Air Force Ready Reserve, retiring in 1982 as a Lt. Colonel. Following Don's military service, he returned to Albuquerque and began an insurance career that covered 39 years of which the last 21 years were spent as the Executive Vice President for Market Finders, Inc, New Mexico's largest insurance general agency. He retired from that position in 1998. Don was devoted to his family, and his children and grandchildren brought him tremendous joy. He was greatly loved by his family and friends. We will miss him terribly. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held Friday, February 9, 2001, 9:00 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 215 Locust NE, with Dr. Paul Debenport and Rev. Carl Soderberg officiating. Interment of cremains will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.
