Davis -- Clemestine Davis, age 77, passed away Saturday evening, January 26, 2001. She was born on June 27, 1923 in Sikeston, Missouri. She was joined in marriage to John A. Davis on December 23, 1939. To this union was born three daughters and two sons, Shirley (Spencer) DePauw, Washington, Illinois, Edna Holbrook and friend, Ron Gutierrez, Albuquerque, Audrey (David) Moore, Albuquerque, John (Lisa) Davis Jr., Clarksville, Tenn and Charles (Carmaine) Davis, Bossier City, Louisiana; one brother, Wellford Burklow, Valparaiso, Indiana; one sister-in-law, Edna Hobbs, Elizabethtown, Illinois; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Davis of 48 years. She resided in Southern Illinois from the time her marriage until 1960 when the family moved to Grants, NM. She and her husband moved to Albuquerque in 1971 to be near her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her lifes pleasure was helping other people. Her generosity and willingness to help friends and neighbors was felt by all that knew her. She never met a stranger. Visitation will take place Monday, January 29, 2001 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in the Palm Chapel of the Strong-Thorne Mortuary and interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.
