Balzerani -- Vera Balzerani passed away on January 23, 2001. Vera was born on May 31, 1911 in Frosinone, Italy to Antonio and Rosa Balzerani, one of seven children. She became a sister of the Sacre Cuore de Ges£ in Rome. During World War II, she helped Jews escape German persecution. In 1960, she immigrated to the United States. She settled in Erie, PA where she taught school. After retiring, she moved to New York where she was a crossing guard in Endicott. In 1987, she moved to Albuquerque. She liked to travel and was very active in the community. Her love of life and people was infectious and she touched all those that met her. Her life was devoted to helping others. She spent her last years at Manzano del Sol Good Samaritan Village Nursing Home. She made many friends and enjoyed reading the bible to the residents. She will be remembered for her friendliness, her love of children and her never ending smile. She is survived by a brother and sister in Italy, Vetulio and Stella. We would like to thank Chad and the staff at Manzano del Sol for taking special care of this wonderful woman. Also a special thank you to the staff at Joy Junction and Healthcare for the Homeless for the years they cared for Vera. Vera will be returning to her native Italy to be buried with her family. Arrangements are being made by Aspen Funeral Alternatives. Vera will always hold a special place in our hearts. Sylvia and Veronica.
