Lewis -- Ronald"Ron" J. Lewis, 66, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2003. He was a retired Police Officer who was dedicated to his profession. He worked with the Belen Police Dept. for 19 years retiring as Lieutenant, five years with Valencia County Sheriff Office, and five years with the NM Corrections Dept. Ron's hobbies were hunting, reloading, and cowboy shooting. He was a member of the Rio Grande Renegade Shooting Club and SASS (Single Action Shooting Society). He was a loving husband, father, and a well-known member of the community. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and two half brothers. Ron is survived by his loving wife of eleven years, Wendy M. Lewis; his loving children, Rick Lewis; Rhonda Koch; Robin Pettet; Randy Lewis; Danny Soto; Stephen Soto; Chris Soto; Tamara White; and Scott Nickelson; his loving grandchildren; and one loving sister, Sue Danzal of Sprinfield, MO. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2003 in the Romero Funeral Home Chapel at 9:30am with a funeral service following at 10:00am.
