Butler -- Barbara J. Butler, age 72, an Albuquerque resident since 1967 died February 14, 2003. Survivors include her husband, Paul Butler; daughters, Grace Whiteman and husband, Christopher of NB, Ashleigh Candelaria, Darcy Candelaria; son, Michael Butler and wife, Kathy all of Albuquerque; sister, Peggy Byrd of NJ; brother, John D'Arcy of NV; grandchildren, David Vickery, Michael Butler, Jessica Whiteman, Matthew Butler and Stephanie Whiteman; great-granddaughter, Samantha Whiteman. Chavez -- Mr. Estanislado (Tommy) Chavez Sr. a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 15, 2003 with his loving family by his side. Mr. Chavez is the beloved husband of 48 years to Mrs. Frances Julia De Chavez. Mr. Chavez is the loving father to his nine children, Tom Chavez Jr. and wife, Erica, Irma Ramirez and husband, Lito, Darlene Romero and husband, Porfirio, Denise Nevarez and husband, Guillermo, Lupita Chavez, Gloria Chavez and husband, Jesus, Mona Baca and husband, Gene, Jude Vallez and wife Charlotte and Charlie Valdez; 32 grandchildren, Stephanie, Tom Noah, April Griego, Christine. Rudy, Adam, Krystal, Michael, Manuel, Kassandra, Abraham Raymond, Val, Corine, April Chavez, Dennis, Matthew, Renee, Delilah Jr., Alexandra, Steven, Andrew, Lisa, Gino, Moses, Elijah, Julian, Nicole, Christopher, Maria and Marissa; great grandchildren, Isaiah, D'Marco, Izrael, Leandra, Britney, Suzanne, Darian, Izerri, Sonrisa, Marriah, Angelia and Kyle. Mr. Chavez was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Chavez. Mr. Chavez was a Veteran of the U.S. Army-Air Force and served in World War II. Mr. Chavez received 2 Purple Hearts and many other medals for serving his country. Mr. Chavez was in the auto-body business, he loved his work and was very good at it. Curry -- Foy M. Curry, 92, a long time Albuquerque resident, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2003. Foy was the son of Adolphus and Golden Curry. He was born in Alva, Oklahoma on September 2, 1910. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Viola, Cecile and Alta, and his brothers, Ralph, Ollie, Harold, Roy, and Owassa. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Steven J. Curry. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Laura Lee; his two sons, Sam and wife, Gretta of Marble Falls TX, and Foy Lee and wife, Dottie of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Mike Curry and wife, Diane, Kim Bingham and husband, Rod, Kathie Zermani, Karen Dooley and husband, Tom, Foy D. Curry and wife, Susan, Lori Clark and husband, Gene, Steven Pepple and Randy Pepple and wife, Sidney; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Ray Curry and wife, Billie; and several nieces and nephews. During his long life time, he was an Albuquerque fireman, a carpenter, and then a general contractor. Both of his sons followed in his footsteps and are custom builders. He and Laura enjoyed their many years in the Good Sam Group and traveling around the U.S. in their R.V. Playing games, laughing, and spending time with his family were his pastimes. Faulkner -- Sharon G. Faulkner, 60, beloved mother, wife, grandmother and counselor to all her children, died on Saturday, February 15, 2003. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Robert Bob Faulkner of the family home; sons, Robert Faulkner and wife, Debbie of Rio Rancho, William Faulkner and wife, Irma, Richard Faulkner and wife, Gaye, John Faulkner and wife, Michelle, all of Albuquerque, and James Faulkner and wife, Kym of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Chris Faulkner of Jacksonville, FL and Bryan Chapman and Skyler Faulkner, both of Albuquerque; sister, Peggy Erlandson and husband, Ed of Lander, WY; brother, Steve Cranston and wife, Carol of Mesa, AZ; sister-in-law, Linda Hahn and husband, Glen of Manchester, MD; and many nieces and nephews. Sharon was a resident of Albuquerque since December of 1972. She was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Rebekah Lodge #36 since 1982 and a member of Rebekah Assembly of New Mexico since 1992. Cremation has taken place. Fegan -- Cindy Fegan, 45, a resident of Bosque Farms, passed away early Monday morning, February 17, 2003, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Charles Fegan, Jr., daughters, Tiffany Fegan, 19, and Kelsey Fegan, 15; sister, Laura Gilliam and husband, Johnny; brothers, Thomas Lindsey and wife, Alexis and Steven Lindsey; mother-in-law, Janet Fegan; father-in-law, Charles Fegan; and many loved ones and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Helen Lindsey. Cindy was actively involved in NBHA, ZBRA, America West, and National High School Rodeo Finals in 1974. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2003, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. Fowler -- Kenneth Fowler, age 74, lost a long hard fight with cancer on February 14, 2003. Ken is survived by Marvella, his wife of 53 years. He is also survived by his children, James and his wife, Frances, David and his wife, Bonnie. He has three living brothers, Garald, Keith, and Doug; as well as a sister, Sally. Ken is also survived by Charles and Alyce Hutton, very good life long friends that he always considered family. He has five grandchildren, Ken, Jenie, Gina, Jeremy, and Wade. He also has one great grandchild named Amy. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Elizabeth Fowler, one brother, Jerry, and two sisters, Barbara and Norma. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa, who died in 1995. He was raised in and around Anderson, Indiana, where he graduated from Fairmont High School in 1946. Ken served honorably in the U.S. Navy and after his discharge he moved to Albuquerque where he joined the Albuquerque City Police Dept. He retired in 1977 at which time he and his wife moved to Conchas Dam, New Mexico. During the 1960's and 70's he was an avid bowler and at one point considered turning professional. After his retirement he spent a little time on the lake boating and fishing but mostly enjoying building on their home. His real love was traveling throughout the continental United States where he can boast of having seen each of them at least once. Services will be held Wednesday, 9:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with Baptist Minister Bill Bowan officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Hathaway -- Alice Marie Hathaway, 93, was a former longtime resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Jane Phillips Sorority in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She moved to Sun City West, Arizona in 1976 where she lived until moving to Albuquerque in 1998. She is survived by her son, Robert C. Bob Hathaway and wife, Mary Ann of Albuquerque; three granddaughters, Angie Coddington and husband, Jeff of Goldsboro, NC, Mary Dahlberg and husband, Jeff of Minneapolis, MN and Karen Hamilton of Albuquerque; six great-grandchildren, Krista Ann and Preston Coddington of Goldsboro, NC, Tyler and Connor Dahlberg of Minneapolis, MN and Bobby and Rhiannon Hamilton of Albuquerque; sisters, Lou Higby of Pales Verdes, CA, Edith Bowen of Sun City, AZ and Esther Cowell of Jackson, MS; and a niece and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hathaway; sisters, Christina Monroe and Juanita Hopkins; and a grandson by marriage, Ronnie Hamilton. Hentel -- Mrs. Lilli Hentel, 89, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Great-Great-Grandmother, died peacefully Friday, February 14, 2003. Lilli was born July 31, 1913 in Basil, Switzerland. She is survived by her children, Harold Hentel and wife, Patti of Washington, Janet Dustin and husband, Harold, Judy Whitney and husband, Chuck, of Albuquerque, NM and Ann Beaty and husband, Don of South Carolina. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Lilli loved crossword puzzles, baking, gardening and was an accomplished pianist. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted Thursday at the Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Home Chapel at 2:30 p.m. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Albuquerque Manor for their loving care. Hurtado -- Trinnie P. Hurtado, age 57, of Pena Blanca, NM, went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 14, 2003. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Carmelita Gurule; a son, Eugene Hurtado; two sisters, Claudia Carrillo and Cecelia Cross. Trinnie is survived by her four children, Jeffrey Hurtado and Cathy Rico, Gina Hurtado-Johnson and Ely Ortiz, Camila Hurtado-Worrell and Anthony Madrid, Amy Hurtado-Romero and Bobby Quiroz; her grandchildren, Anthony, Joelene, Alexandria, Katelyn, Aaron, Elycia, Allyson, Mercedes, Gabriel, and Robert. Klein -- Mary M. Klein of Albuquerque, passed away quietly at Manor Care Nursing Home Sunday, February 16, 2003. She was born in 1902 in Valley Forge, PA, one of 13 children of Irvin and Mary Margaret Haws Huff. She resided in White Plains, NY, for many years, moving with her husband, Philip Klein, to Toledo, OH, in 1967. She had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1970. Mary was a kind and loving mother, grandma, and grams, whom we shall always remember for her generosity and loving concern for others. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hilford; son-in-law, John Hilford; granddaughters, Karen Warin, Tracy Coffing and Jackie Garrity and their husbands, Leroy Warin, Dale Coffing and Tom Garrity, all of Albuquerque and Stephanie Danielson of Las Vegas, NV; grandsons, Keith Klein and his wife, Betsy, Kevin Klein, and Kenneth Klein and his wife, Deborah, all of whom reside in North Carolina, and Docc Hilford of Miami, FL. Her 15 great-grandchildren include Rebecca and Nicholas Warin, Brandon, Michael, Adam and Kimberly Coffing, Emily and Casey Garrity, Elle and Hannah Klein, Brandon, Garrett and Kyle Klein, and Lauren and Joshua Klein. Her only son, Phil Klein, Jr., died in Greensboro, NC, December 11, 1997, survived by his wife, Mary Lou and their above mentioned children and grandchildren. Lewis -- Ronald"Ron" J. Lewis, 66, a resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2003. He was a retired Police Officer who was dedicated to his profession. He worked with the Belen Police Dept. for 19 years retiring as Lieutenant, five years with Valencia County Sheriff Office, and five years with the NM Corrections Dept. Ron's hobbies were hunting, reloading, and cowboy shooting. He was a member of the Rio Grande Renegade Shooting Club and SASS (Single Action Shooting Society). He was a loving husband, father, and a well-known member of the community. He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and two half brothers. Ron is survived by his loving wife of eleven years, Wendy M. Lewis; his loving children, Rick Lewis; Rhonda Koch; Robin Pettet; Randy Lewis; Danny Soto; Stephen Soto; Chris Soto; Tamara White; and Scott Nickelson; his loving grandchildren; and one loving sister, Sue Danzal of Sprinfield, MO. Leyva -- Pedro"Pete" Leyva, age 62 of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Friday, February 14, 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents,"Inocente and Ester Leyva and by a brother, Porfirio"Porky" Leyva. Pete was born on August 31, 1940 in Carlsbad, NM to Inocente and Ester Leyva. At the time of his death Richardson and Richardson Construction Company employed him as an estimator. His wife, Helen Leyva of Albuquerque, NM survives him as well as five children, Albert Leyva of Lubbock, TX, Anthony Leyva and wife, Tanisha Robinson-Leyva of Albuquerque, NM, Alan Leyva of Albuquerque, NM, Aaron Leyva of Washington state, and Ana Lyeva of Austin, TX; one grandchild, Taran Robinson-Leyva of Albuquerque, NM; three sisters, Tavita Cedra of Carlsbad, NM, Silveria Navarrette of Carlsbad, NM, Angelita Gonzales of Carlsbad, NM and one brother, Dalbert Leyva and wife, Sylvia Leyva of Madisonville, LA; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends also survive him. Lopez -- Ramon Lopez, 71, passed away February 15, 2003. He leaves behind his wife Elvira and children, Enrique Lopez, Jose Lopez, Maria Gamboa, Fransico Lopez, Gloria Gallegos, Beatriz Lopez, Grabriela Lopez and Ramon Lopez Jr.; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Mccloud -- Mrs. Bernice J. McCloud, June 17, 1921-February 13, 2003 a resident of Albuquerque, NM went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on February 13, 2003 while in Santa Anna, TX visiting with family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Lee McCloud Sr., and her son, T.L. McCloud, Jr. She is survived by her sons, Ernest McCloud and wife, Evelyn Hill McCloud of Santa Anna, TX, J.D. McCloud also of Santa Anna, TX, and daughter-in-law, Sandy McCloud of Albuquerque, NM. She had 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Merrell -- Freda Geneva Dunn Merrell 11-9-28 to 2-14-03. As beautiful as the rise and set of the sun so too was her life. She touched all that knew her with her kindness, patience and love. GOD called another of his sparks to Heaven to keep His eternal flame glowing. Although we all will miss this beautiful loving caregiver, we know she has gone on to continue honoring us with memories of all she was and all she gave. All who knew her were truly blessed. The sun has set on the life of our beloved here on Earth but we will cherish her smile and laughter for always. Rest easy and sweet be your rest. We all loved you dearly but GOD loved you best. Montoya -- Flora Florinda Montoya, 74, a resident of Los Lunas and formally of Pueblitos, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 16, 2003. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolfo and Lucia Montano; her brother, Adolfo Montano, Jr.; her sister, Cleo Gutierrez; her three sons, Robert Morris, John (Fitz), and Floyd Montoya; and one daughter, Mary Alice Montoya. Flora is survived by her five children, Mary J. Gurule and Ben Montoya, both of Los Lunas, Vincent Montoya of Albuquerque, Diane Barela and her husband, Joseph of La Joya, NM, and Annette Montoya of Los Lunas; her two brothers, Delfin Montano and his wife, Lucy of California, and Arsenio Montano of Albuquerque; two sisters, Nora Carrasco and her husband, Albert and Rose Lemus and her husband, Richard, both of California. She is also survived by her 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Perea -- Louis V. Perea, 78, went to be with the Lord Friday, February 14, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Jane; son, Danny Perea and wife, Maggie; daughters, Nancy Martinez, Pamela Slater and husband, Robert, Janet Shainin and husband, Carl; and son, Robert Perea. He has one remaining sister, Mary Margaret (Peggy) Duran. Louis had eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Stephanie, Ted, Joseph, William, Olivia, Brian and Elise. There are also three great-grandchildren, Delaney, Jack, Seth; and numerous nieces and nephews. He served as an aircraft mechanic with the 330th Bomb Group on Guam in WWII. Louis retired from Sandia National Laboratories after thirty years of service. He enjoyed playing guitar at the 4th Street Senior Center. Louie will be remembered as a devoted brother, husband, loving father and grandfather, and a trusted friend to many people. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, February 18, 2003, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, February 19, 2003, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Church Rio Rancho, 1502 Sara Rd. SE. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pierce -- Emily Virginia Pierce, a resident of Albuquerque since the early 1940's, died on February 16, 2003. She was born in Pueblo, CO to Noble and Nelle Davis Reeve. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack S. Pierce in 1985 and brothers, Hank Richard and Jim Reeve. Props -- Marian Randolph Props, born July 9, 1971, died on February 14, 2003. She was a wonderful mother to Savanna Evelyn Parada, loving wife of Nathaniel Parada, cherished daughter, granddaughter and daughter-in-law of Kate Austin, Scot Cisco, Julie and Gilbert Maldonado, special sister to Amy and Ken Wardlaw, and great-granddaughter to Angie Barger and Kenneth Props. She leaves behind uncles, David Cisco, Jason Sanchez, Gerson Sanchez, aunt Sharon Cisco, great-uncle Halleck Fry and numerous aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces. She slipped away from this earth unexpectedly after a short illness. She was never really ours to keep and has always been a special gift on loan from God. She was a loving, gentle, generous soul and has returned to God. She was an artist, a musician and a blessing to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all who love her still. Rutter -- Robert L. (Bob) Rutter, 69, died early Sunday morning, February 16, 2003. He was born in Sedalia, Missouri May 2, 1933. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He graduated Sigma Cum Laedu with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Missouri University and was employed by Sandia Laboratories. He moved to Albuquerque in 1960 and went into the Master's Program at the University of New Mexico. He spent 30 years at Sandia Labs in the area of Nuclear Field-Testing. He was loved for his dry wit and competitive nature in games with friends and relatives. He enjoyed tinkering with electronic gadgets and his computers and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved taking ocean cruises with his wife and friends. He is survived by his wife, Betty of nearly 50 years; his son, Bob E. Rutter of Munich, Germany; his daughters, Brenda Peterson and husband, Dan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Barbara Funkhouser and husband, Don of Albuquerque; his six grandchildren, Lisa, Keith and Erik Funkhouser and Noah, Daniel and Jacob Peterson; his sister, Shirley Wimer and husband, LeRoy of Sedalia, Missouri; and number nieces and nephews. Smith -- Christopher Paul Smith, 39, of Leander, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2003. He was born on October 16, 1963, in Amarillo, Texas. Above all else, Chris loved and adored his son, Christopher. He also had a passion for music, both as a songwriter and vocalist. Chris was a master guitarist touring worldwide with nationally known bands. Chris is preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Lois Smith and Robert and Bernice Parmer. Ward -- Anna Ward, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on February 15, 2003. Anna was born on May 12, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Anna was a very loving and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed crafting ceramics and loved watching and playing Wheel of Fortune. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
