Daniel -- Donald (Don) Gordon Daniel, supported by family and friends passed away on December 22, 2002 after a short but valiant battle with cancer. Dan was born May 3, 1940 in Hobbs, NM to Gordon Daniel and Mildred Lee Daniel (nee Marshall). Dan is survived by his sons, Glenn Daniel of Largo, FL, and Gordon (Skip) Daniel of Tooele, UT. Dan joined the Army in Odessa, TX and had a 22 year career serving in Korea, Germany and Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star. Dan retired as a Sergeant First Class and went to work at Tooele Army Depot. Dan was very active in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Tooele, UT doing outreach ministries. While doing AA service work, he met Janee Parnegg of Albuquerque, NM. Dan came to Albuquerque and Janee and Dan were married in 1995. He went to work for what is now Coldwell Banker Legacy Real Estate. Dan and Janee were members of St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry. He was a strong supporter of the Dominican Retreat House (the Spiritual Renewal Center) and its mission of offering retreat and healing, especially to recovering alcoholics. After Janee died suddenly in May 2000, Dan continued to do out reach in many ways touched in lives of countless people. Dan was deeply grateful when fellow Legacy employees gave him their vacation time as he battled cancer. Dan will be greatly missed by those who loved him and counted him as their friend. Cremation has occurred. He will be interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe on January 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. A celebration of Dan's life with Eucharist will be held at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 425 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM at 3:00 p.m. on January 4, 2003. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the St. Thomas Serenity Retreat Fund, 425 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 or to the Spiritual Renewal Center, Inc., 6400 Coors Blvd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120.
