Alire -- Andrea A. Alire, 91 years old, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2002 surrounded by her loved ones. She was a long time member of the Second Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elias Alire; and her children, Jose I. Alire, Mary Jane Alire and Orlina P. Alire"Pollock." She is survived by her sisters, Hilaria Atencio and Bernie Rivera; and brothers, Tomas, Ernest and Andres Atencio. She is also survived by her children, Marcia Quintana, Larry E. Alire, Max Alire, Lupe Baca and Manuel Alire; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. Bentivegna -- Joseph Charles Bentivegna, age 75, born July 19, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York, died December 31, 2002. Mr. Bentivegna was a WWII veteran, a resident of New Mexico for over 20 years, and a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Loretta Theresa Bentivegna; sons, Charles and Michael Bentivegna; daughter, Michele Stelzer; grandsons, Richard Bentivegna and Adam and Jonathan Stelzer. Services will be held at Vista Verde Memoirial Park, 4310 Sara Road, Rio Rancho, NM on Friday, January 3, 2002 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Beserra -- Refujio"Cuco" Roy Beserra 77 a lifetime resident of Albuquerque passed away on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. He was a graduate of the 83rd session of the F.B.I Acaademy and he attended Keller Polygraph school in Chicago and was the 1st certified Polygraph examiner in New Mexico. He is serveved by his loving wife of 56 years, Mela; sons, Ronald and wife, Carol, Richard, and Patrick and wife, Anne; grandchildren, Troy, Tracy, Colby, Kimberly, Roy Brock, Richard, and Helene; great-grandchildren Emma Carol, Erik, and Brianna. He retired from the Albuquerque Plolice Department after 33 1/2 years of service. He was a member of the American Leigon Post # 99 and the F.O.P. He was also survived by many loving sister in-laws, brother in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Honoray Pallbearers will be Ross Tafoya, Ben Barreras, Ben Micheal Barreras, Ray Vargas, Larry Perea, Victor Beserra, Greg Avila, and Frank Murillo. Bourassa -- Normand M. Bourassa, 41, passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2002. He is survived by his sons, Lance and Shawn; Maria, his former wife of 20 years; mother and step-father, Anita Louise Brown and Mike Brown; brother and sister, Ron and Jeannine Bourassa; his Aunt Sue and Uncle Bud and their families. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Lance Kadlitz. Normand was a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle and son. Rosary will be recited Thursday, time pending, at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande, 5901 St. Joseph Dr. NW. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande. Daniel -- Donald (Don) Gordon Daniel, supported by family and friends passed away on December 22, 2002 after a short but valiant battle with cancer. Dan was born May 3, 1940 in Hobbs, NM to Gordon Daniel and Mildred Lee Daniel (nee Marshall). Dan is survived by his sons, Glenn Daniel of Largo, FL, and Gordon (Skip) Daniel of Tooele, UT. Dan joined the Army in Odessa, TX and had a 22 year career serving in Korea, Germany and Vietnam, where he received the Bronze Star. Dan retired as a Sergeant First Class and went to work at Tooele Army Depot. Dan was very active in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Tooele, UT doing outreach ministries. While doing AA service work, he met Janee Parnegg of Albuquerque, NM. Dan came to Albuquerque and Janee and Dan were married in 1995. He went to work for what is now Coldwell Banker Legacy Real Estate. Dan and Janee were members of St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry. He was a strong supporter of the Dominican Retreat House (the Spiritual Renewal Center) and its mission of offering retreat and healing, especially to recovering alcoholics. After Janee died suddenly in May 2000, Dan continued to do out reach in many ways touched in lives of countless people. Dan was deeply grateful when fellow Legacy employees gave him their vacation time as he battled cancer. Dan will be greatly missed by those who loved him and counted him as their friend. Cremation has occurred. He will be interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadalupe on January 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. A celebration of Dan's life with Eucharist will be held at St. Thomas of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 425 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM at 3:00 p.m. on January 4, 2003. Duran -- Our beloved Marcia Cecelia Duran passed away peacefully on December 30, 2002. She was a life long resident of Alameda in Albuquerque, NM. Marcia was a living example of a strong and courageous person. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her Father Floran Lucero; brother, Robert Lucero; and Sister, Edna Ortiz. She is survived by her Mother, Estella; and brothers, Joe Lucero and wife, LaVerne, Arthur Lucero and wife, Pauline, Salvador and Floran Jr.; sisters, Perma and husband, William Saavedra, Frances Saiz and husband, Louie, Mary Jane Candelaria and husband, Phil, Isabel Sandoval and husband, Chris, and Stella Lucero. Marcia had a Special Goddaughter Tanya Maestas; 20 nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Modesto Sanchez. We were inspired by the 25 years of strength through her long illness and we were privileged to have this special angel on earth. Garza -- Patricia Anita Garza, 41, went to be with her Lord in Heaven on December 24, 2002. Patty was born on October 31, 1961 in Washington DC. She grew up in Arlington, VA, and spent most of her adult life in Washington DC. Patty recently relocated to Albuquerque, NM to be closer to her family. Patty was preceded in death by her father, Richard Dix Garza; and by her companion of 14 years, Raymond"Quentin" Wateski. Patty is survived by her mother, Marjorie O. Garza; sister, Boni Galarneau and brother-in-law, William Galarneau; son, Brandon Garza; nephews, Adam and Skip Galarneau, all of Rio Rancho, NM; son, Jonathan Sean Haynes of CA; daughter, Desha¯Rae Platz of WV; many aunts and cousins. Patty's life on this earthy was short. She will be terribly missed by her family and friends. Patty is no longer suffering, but resting in the loving arms of Jesus Christ, her new found Savior. Her family wishes to thank those special, caring and compassionate workers from the Halquist Memorial Hospice Center, Albuquerque Manor Care, and Zia Hospice. Gonzalez -- Americo Z. Gonzalez, went to our Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2002, at the age of 77, after fighting a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He is survived by Ida, his wife of 55 years; his daughters and their families, Evelina Gonzalez and Angela, Yolanda and Chester Kimber, Matthew, Andrew and Daniel, Dolores Gonzalez and Bill Richards, Amber and Adam, and Vivian and Mark MacKenzie, Briana, Leigha and Connor; four brothers-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and wonderful friends. He was a graduate of Albuquerque High School. He lied about his age in order to enter the US Navy, where he served during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He returned to Albuquerque, and worked as a civil service employee at Sandia Base, and then later Kirtland Air Force Base, where he retired after 36 years, as a shop foreman. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving camping, fishing and hunting. He loved to work on his son-in-law's farm, driving the tractor and branding cattle. He was a hard worker all of his life, and would help anyone who asked. A rosary will be recited Thursday, January 2, 2003, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, January 3, 2003, 9:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Gutierrez -- Mr. Delfinio R. Gutierrez died Sunday, December 29, 2002 in Albuquerque at the age of 89. Mr. Gutierrez was a veteran of World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was also a life member of the DAV Chapter 3. He is survived by his daughter, Eileen Gutierrez; son, Michael Gutierrez; granddaughter, Elyse Gutierrez; and sister, Ida Arias. A Rosary for Mr. Gutierrez will be recited on Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will celebrated at 10:00 a.m. immediately following the Rosary. Hamilton -- Daniel J. Hamilton, 66, a resident of Albuquerque for 37 years, died Friday, December 27, 2002. He is survived by his sons, Brian Hamilton and Daniel J. Hamilton, Jr.; grandson, Michael Hamilton; cousin, Tonia Motyl, all of Minneapolis, MN; and special friends, Dean Van Doren of Albuquerque and Patricia Sais of Jemez Springs. Loring -- Kathryn P. Loring, 87, a resident of Albuquerque passed away Monday. Mrs. Loring was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert E. Loring. She is survived by her daughter, Winifred K. Pratt -- Grant C. Pratt, passed away Monday, December 30, 2002. Born May 24, 1922 in Powlal, Vermont, Grant proudly served his country as a bomber pilot in WWII, and retired as a Lt. Colonel, USAF, after being awarded the Purple Heart. While he was stationed in the Philippines, he became a Mason. Grant was an avid golfer, until his pulmonary fibrosis would no longer permit him to play. He is survived by his wife, Bette; two sons, Ronnie Pratt and Randy Pratt and their wives, Connie and Paris; two daughters, Janice and husband, Michael Nunley of Ohio, and Catherine Pratt of Albuquerque; grandson, Stirling Carpenter III and wife, Jen; sister-in-law, Johnita Johnson of Albuquerque; stepdaughter, Susan Lepisto and husband, Bob of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Jayme Nelson and husband, Jim; and five great-grandchildren, Kendall Landstrom and Stephanie, Cassandra, Taylor and Madison Nelson, all of Albuquerque. Richey -- Inez Richey, 87, a resident of Albuquerque for 38 years, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2002. She is survived by her two sons, Milford Richey and Frank Richey, both of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond M. Richey in 1991. Mrs. Richey was born in Farmersville, TX and moved with her parents to New Mexico in 1924. She graduated from Clayton High School in 1935 and was married to Raymond M. Richey in Raton, NM in 1936. It was the wish of the deceased to be cremated and that there be no memorial service. Romero -- Porfirio Romero, 93, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on December 25, 2002. He ministered in several Northern New Mexico churches, as well as Colorado and San Antonio, TX. He retired from the Cuba Presbyterian Church, after retirement he was pastor emeritus at the Ranchos Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Romero on December 6, 1999; his son, Victor Romero in 1956; and brother, Nelson Romero in 1999. He is survived by his children, Mary Louise Trujillo (Meliton), Eleanor Romero all of Ranchos; grandson, Robert Trujillo (Sue) and Deanna Reyes (Angel) all of Taos. He is also survived by great-grandchildren, Angel and Elizabeth Reyes, Robert Louis Trujillo; brothers and sisters, Miguel Romero (Celia) of Albuquerque, Cande Aguilar of El Valle, Cordie Aguilar (Abe) of Penasco, Celestino Romero (Dulcie) of Taos, Sammy Martinez of Albuquerque; numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives. Shook -- Donna L. Shook, a resident of Albuquerque since 1994, died Monday, December 30, 2002. She is survived by her two sons, Gary Shook of Bethel, CT and Kevin Shook of Albuquerque; one daughter, Kathy Shook of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Mateo, Maria, Justin, Michaela and Kaelin; parents, Norma and Jim Osborne of Albuquerque; and brother, David Osborne of Lafayette, CO. Mrs. Shook was born and raised in New Milford, CT, the daughter of Jim and Norma Osborne. She graduated from New Milford High School in 1969 and also graduated with honors from Franklin University with a degree in Accounting. Mrs. Shook had been most recently employed by B.C.T. in Albuquerque. She had a love for bowling and compassion for animals. Mrs. Shook had dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family. Streeter -- Ruth Cooper Streeter, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1950, died Friday, December 27, 2002. She is survived by her niece, Julianne Pacetti and husband, Steve of Lakewood, CO; nephew, Ted Hempel and wife, Kaye of Alliance, NE; and grand-nephews, David and Daniel Hempel, both of Lincoln, NE. She was preceded in death by her sister, Eda Streeter Hempel. She was born in New Rockford, ND and spent her early years there. Miss Streeter received a B.A. from Grinnell College in Iowa, after which she aught social science and history at various high schools in Iowa, Wyoming and Colorado. She moved to New Mexico in 1946 and taught school in Alamogordo before entering the University of New Mexico law school, graduating in 1953. She was law clerk for U.S. District Judge Carl Hatch for three years. In 1957, she began her career with the U.S. Attorney¯s Office and was the State¯s first female prosecutor. She handled both criminal and civil cases. She served as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Mexico for many years until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of the State Bar of New Mexico, the Federal District Court for the District of New Mexico, and the Tenth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. She was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. She was past president of the New Mexico Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and of the Albuquerque Lawyers Club. She served on the board of the University of New Mexico Law School. She appeared in Who's Who of American Women and Who¯s Who of World Women. In 1993, she was honored by the University of New Mexico law school as being one of its distinguished alumnae. In 1994 she received a professionalism award from the State Bar of New Mexico as having ¯exemplified the epitome of professionalism throughout her distinguished legal career. She was a member and past president of the Altrusa Club of Albuquerque. She also served as Governor of District 10 of Altrusa International, and as the International By-laws Chairman. She was a member of Chapter BN of P.E.O. and of Charles Dibrell Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at St. Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Pl. NE. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. Trujillo -- Daniel O. Trujillo, 65, went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2002. He was born on June 16, 1937 in Trujillo, NM. Vigil -- Ben L. Vigil, 64, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on December 30, 2002 peacefully at home with his loving family by his side. Mr. Vigil is the beloved husband of 44 years to Mrs. Edna Vigil. Mr. Vigil is also survived by two daughters, Velda Ortiz and husband, Leroy, Judy Santistevan and husband, Pat; two sisters, Josie and Felicitias; three brothers, Idolfo, Clodeveo and Candelario; nine grandchildren and many other extended family members. A visitation for Mr. Vigil will be Friday morning in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and his friends. Voss -- John Voss, 53, of Albuquerque, died suddenly at his home on December 27, 2002. He was a graphic artist and a longtime resident. Preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Hermie Voss. He is survived by his friend, MaryAnn Coulter; his sisters, Judith Dorsey of Amarillo, and Jannie Bangs of Austin, TX; and many nieces and nephews. Interment was private and a Memorial is planned at a later date.

Walley -- John A. Walley, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died Tuesday, December 31, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Mary Walley; sons, Steven Walley and wife, Nancy and Robert Walley and wife, Jennie; two grandsons, Eric and Ryan Walley, all of Albuquerque. John was a member of First Congregation Church. He worked at UNM and he loved fishing, camping, and spending time with his grandkids. Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Minister Randy Deckwerth officiating. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
