Akgulian -- Alfred"Avak" Akgulian, 74, passed away in Albuquerque on Wednesday, April 23, 2003. Avak was born in Racine, Wisconsin to Richard and Lucy (nee Kaprelian) Akgulian. He had been a resident of Albuquerque for over 40 years. Avak married Ruth Akgulian, who preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Avak loved his family and his music, especially his Oud. He gave joy to the world through is music. Survivors include his sisters, Martha Kargenian of Racine, WI and Rosemary Smith of Omaha, NE: and a brother, Jerry (Bernadine) Akgulian of Bartlett, IL. Avak is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Tourvande Margosian. Funeral services for Avak will be held at St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church on Monday, April 28, 2003, 10:00 a.m., with Fr. Yeprem Kelegian officiating. Interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church. Hillcrest Funeral Home 225 San Mateo NE 265-5959
