Saavedra -- Gail Griffith Saavedra, 65, died of cancer at her home on Sunday, April 27, 2003. She was the daughter of Arthur R. Griffith and the late Margaret B. Griffith of Carlsbad, NM. A resident of Albuquerque since 1960, she developed and directed the first volunteer program at Albuquerque's Main Library from 1975 to 1978, and was an elementary school counselor in the Albuquerque Public Schools from 1978 until her retirement in 1995. Her greatest pride was her family: husband, Louis; son, Ralph and wife, Rachel and their sons, Stephen and Gabriel; daughter, Laura and husband, David Buckley and their children, Aidan and Elena; daughter, Barbara and her fiance, Michael Risher; cousin, Karen Griffith; and many other relatives. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and by her valued friends. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in Albuquerque on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m., at the First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle Blvd. NE.
