Chavez -- Juanita S. Chavez, age 102, a lifelong resident of New Mexico died June 19, 2003. Survivors include her daughters, Josephine Chavez of Carrizozo, Teresa Chavez of Albuquerque, Agnes Dotson and husband, Keith of Corrales; sons, Mariano S. Chavez and wife, Lucy of Santa Fe, Godfrey S. Chavez of Tularosa, Richard S. Chavez and wife Charlotte of Chula Vista, CA, Frank S. Chavez and wife, Lorrane of Albuquerque, Conrad S. Chavez and wife, Sue of Checotha, OK; daughter-in-law, Mary Chavez of Carrizozo; 29 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Federico in 1969 and her son, Fred in 1972. Juanita was the Democratic Precinct Chairperson in Lincoln County for many years. Viewing and Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 23, 2003 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. in Palm Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at San Jose de los Duranes Church 2110 Los Luceros Rd. NW with Fr. Jerry Plotkowski, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Michael Chavez, Ernest Chavez, Anthony Chavez, Robert Chavez, Frank Chavez, Gregory Dotson, Eric Chavez and Anthony Chavez.
