Agnes -- Frances Irene Agnes, 70, a resident of Albuquerque for 61 years, passed away June 19, 2003. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Russey and husband, Joe of Albuquerque, Eugene G. Agnes II and wife, Mary of Mesa, AZ and Jayne Agnes of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Kammara Russey, Francesca Agnes, Alexandra Agnes, Kaylah Russey and Maryssa Agnes; her mother, Beulah Greer; seven sisters; three brothers; and many other relatives and friends. Arellin -- Joe M. Arellin, 74, passed away on June 20, 2003 peacefully at his home with his family and friends at his side. He was a long time resident of Belen, businessman, cattle rancher, and member of the international Union of Operating Engineers local 953. He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Ester Arellin, brother Roman and three sisters; Omessima, Jesus, and Epiphania. He is survived by six children; Danny of Belen, Freddie and his wife of Peralta, Linda of Belen, Robert of Albuquerque, Deborah and husband Don Narboe of Belen, Charlene and husband Larry Mccause of El Cerro. He is also survived by four grandsons; Christopher Baca, Emanuel Arellin and his wife Tina, Stephen and Ryan Narboe, and one great grandson, Matthew Arellin. Services will be held at 1st Assembly of God, 19398 N. Hwy 314, in Belen, New Mexico with visitation from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, June 23, 2003, with funeral services at 10:00 am on Tuesday, Pastor Greg Burchfield officiating. Barcord -- Charles Robert Barncord, 83, a resident of Albuquerque for over 40 years, passed away May 22, 2003 after a valiant struggle with cancer. Marguerite Barncord, his loving wife of 57 years, passed away February 2, 1999. He is survived by his son, Gary Barncord and wife, Dolores of Minden, NE; his daughter, Linda Barncord and husband, Frank Geick of Emerald Hills, CA; his granddaughters, Kenneta Kraemer of Aurora, CO, and Inde Barncord Wissing and husband, Chris of Kearney, NE; his great-granddaughter, Lacy Kraemer of Aurora, CO; and sister, Norma Owen and husband, Jack of Sun Lakes, AZ. Charles"Bob" married Marguerite October 1941 in Whitewater, KS. After the outbreak of WWII, Bob entered the Army and studied engineering at Ohio State University. In 1944, they moved to Los Alamos when Bob was selected to work on the Manhattan Project and where Marguerite served as a registered nurse. After the war concluded, Bob completed his ME degree in May 1949 at the University of New Mexico, while continuing to work for University of CA on Sandia Base. In November 1949, he joined Sandia National Laboratory where he worked in Albuquerque, NM and Livermore, CA until his retirement as Controller, in May 1982. Bob and Marguerite traveled extensively after his retirement and were active members of the Monte Vista Christian Church. Cremation has taken place and Bob was laid to rest with his beloved wife, Marguerite at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2003, 1:30 p.m. at the Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd. NE, with Reverends Fred Dorisse and Michelle Tatlock officiating. Caller -- Edith DeWitt Miller, 93, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, died peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2003. She was born on July 4, 1909. She was married in 1931 to Maxwell B. Miller who preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Miller Harris of Redondo Beach, CA, and by her son, Donald DeWitt Miller and wife, Valerie of Hendersonville, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Kathleen Harris Luttrull, of Redondo Beach, CA and husband, Carolyn Harris Le-Fort of Creston, CA, and husband, Bradford Harris of Harbor City, CA and wife, Janelle Miller Johnson of Albuquerque, and husband, Phil, and Jay Alan Miller of Rome, Italy; five great-grandchildren, Jennice Johnson and Jay Kory Johnson, of Albuquerque, Brian Luttrull of Redondo Beach, CA, Cameron Aichinger and Madeleine Le-Fort of Creston, CA. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. Edith graduated from Albuquerque High School and the University of New Mexico, where she was a music major. She also attended the College of Emporia in Kansas. Edith joined the First Presbyterian Church in 1925 and was a devoted and active member. She was the organist there for several years. She was also a Deacon, a member of the Mariners club, the Hand Bell Choir, the Women's Association, Help-Line, and a faithful donor of her hand crocheted afghans to the Sunbonnet Gift Shop. Edith belonged to Eastern Star, and Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity. She worked at Sandia Labs as an editor. During retirement, Edith continued with her music, playing organ and piano for her retirement home. A funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church 215 Locust NE, Monday, June 23, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Paul Depenport officiating. Internment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Chavez -- Donna L. Chavez, 43, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, June 20, 2003. She is survived by her parents, Preciliano and Celina Chavez of Albuquerque; sisters, Lucy Vasquez and husband, Dan of Albuquerque, Rosemary Cordova and husband, Mike of Lake Mary, FL and Frances Ann Gonzales of Aurora, CO; nieces, Michelle Vasquez of Albuquerque, Danielle Gonzales and Antoinette Gonzales, both of Aurora, CO; nephews, Christopher Vasquez of Albuquerque, Eric Cordova and Jason Cordova, both of Lake Mary, FL; and many, many friends. Donna was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Church of the Risen Savior. She was a volunteer for Carrie Tingley Hospital, worked for New Vistas Independent Living Center and was a member of the Spina Bifida Association of New Mexico Inc. Donna fought a courageous battle with a lifelong illness. It takes many stars to light the sky and Donna now you are now one of them. Chavez -- Juanita S. Chavez, age 102, a lifelong resident of New Mexico died June 19, 2003. Survivors include her daughters, Josephine Chavez of Carrizozo, Teresa Chavez of Albuquerque, Agnes Dotson and husband, Keith of Corrales; sons, Mariano S. Chavez and wife, Lucy of Santa Fe, Godfrey S. Chavez of Tularosa, Richard S. Chavez and wife Charlotte of Chula Vista, CA, Frank S. Chavez and wife, Lorrane of Albuquerque, Conrad S. Chavez and wife, Sue of Checotha, OK; daughter-in-law, Mary Chavez of Carrizozo; 29 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Federico in 1969 and her son, Fred in 1972. Juanita was the Democratic Precinct Chairperson in Lincoln County for many years. Johnson -- Edith Louise"Edie" Johnson, a resident of Albuquerque since March 15, 1945, died on June 17, 2003. She is survived by Otis (Butch) Johnson, her husband since October 17, 1942."Edie" was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1956, was active in"Hoe Downers" landscaping, volunteered as an office assistant and helped with mailings, and was originator of"SMILES" (Seniors Meeting In Luncheon Entertainment Socials) started in 1993. She worked as a secretary at Albuquerque Country Club for 20 years and with UNM for 15 years. She also worked parttime at May's Music selling Hammond Chord Organs."Edie" loved to travel and take pictures. She and her husband, Otis, gave travel lectures and slide shows for over 30 years. Koethe -- Claudine Connie Koethe, 73, and a resident of Albuquerque since moving from Casper, Wyoming in 1974, died on June 15, 2003 in Albuquerque. She was a member of the Lutheran Church and Ladies Auxiliary of VFW. Her hobbies included arts and crafts, playing the piano, surfing the web and traveling in the US and Mexico. She also enjoyed stained glass creations, considered herself"a rock hound", was a published poet and a dancer. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family. Her husband, Eugene Koethe, preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by sons, Joseph Wickam of China, Jack Wickam of Durango, CO and Dean Wickam, of Albuquerque, NM; daughters, Kara Lyn Hubert of Albuquerque, NM, Judee Sullivan of Denver, CO and Sally Ranson of Bakersfield, CA; sister, Georgie Maltboy of Yardley, PA; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Lively -- Edna Hull Lively, native of Albuquerque, born December 5, 1902, passed away Friday, June 20, 2003. She is survived by her sister, Elsie Banes; nephews, Thomas Banes and Richard Banes; nieces, Nancy Banes Calahan, Betty Reed and Norine Shaul; and numerous grandnieces and nephews. Edna married William Lively, owner of Lively Equipment Company, May 14, 1934 and they remained married for 33 years until his death in 1967. Edna graduated from Albuquerque High School and after graduation worked as a secretary for the president of Anderman Balcomb and Glasbrook Insurance Company. After her retirement, Edna became very involved with the Santa Fe School for the Deaf and was a member of the Board of Regents. She learned sign language as a result of her involvement with hearing impaired and developed a version of sign language that made communication easier. Morales -- Emilio Morales Jr., age 98, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2003. He was preceded in death by his first wife Rosa, second wife Bessie, grandson Richard Griego Jr., son in law John R. Garcia, two brothers Isreal Morales Sr. and Concho Morales of Texas. He is survived by one daughter Ylia Garcia of Albuquerque; two sons Henry Morales and wife Hortencia of Tempe, AZ and Richard Griego Sr. and wife Alice of Albuquerque; one sister Bertha Morales; one brother Rodolfo Morales all of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Morales was a retired employee of the City of Albuquerque and an avid fisherman. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. An Evening Prayer service for Mr. Morales will be held on Monday time and place to be announced. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday time and place to be announced. Pardo -- Brian T. Pardo, 42, a native of Albuquerque, and a resident of Cedar Grove, passed away suddenly. A graduate of Del Norte High School and T-VI, he was a Mechanical Technician at Sandia National Labs for 18 years. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, hunting, his horses and the company of his family and many friends. He is survived by his parents, Julio and Carol Pardo; his sisters, Karen Boyce of Shawnee, KS and Alisa Baremore of Albuquerque; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Tapia -- Mr. Tomas (Tappers) Tapia, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at the age of 56. Mr. Tapia retired from the City after 25 years of service. He was a loving and caring person who will be greatly missed. He was always there for his family and friends. He also loved music. He is survived by his wife, Mary C. Williams; children, Harrison Lee Few, Johnny Lee Few, and Tommie Jane Bennett; brothers, Jackie Jaramillo, Victor Vallejos, David James Vallejos, and Adolph Vallejos; sister, Betty Vallejos; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts and friends. Trujillo -- Mr. Antonio M. (Tony) Trujillo, 77, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on June 18, 2003. Mr. Trujillo is the beloved husband of 46 yearss to Mrs. Maria Trujillo. Mr. Trujillo is also survived by one daughter, Cecilia M. Trujillo; two sons, Anthony J. Trujillo and girlfriend, Carmen Lucero, Joseph S. Trujillo and girlfriend, Maria Cruz; one sister, Mary Martinez; one brother, Sam B. Trujillo and wife, Kaye; sister in law, Lory Trujillo; six grandchildren, Adrian, Jasmine, Sabrina, Shannon, Joseph and Kaylene; two great grand daughters, Leticia and Brianna; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Trujillo was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Trujillo; a sister, Cecilia Marie Trujillo and a daughter, Janet S. Trujillo. Mr. Trujillo was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. serving in World War I I, he retired from the Duke CIty Lumber Company after 39 years. A Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:00pm at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 Plaza NW with visitation at the church after 6:30. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 9:00am at San Felipe Catholic Church, Msgr. Leo Lucero, celebrant. Tucker -- James Bruce Tucker, M.D., died Saturday, June 14, 2003 of natural causes. Dr. Tucker was born March 4, 1908 in Troy, Tennessee. He graduated from medical school at the University of Tennessee in 1935 and married Jennie Laverne Daniels. Dr. Tucker practiced medicine in Texas, Tennessee, Alaska, and Arizona for forty years. During his medical career, he was active in local and state medical societies, including being named as one of the earliest members of the National Board of Family Practice, his appointment as President of the Pinal County Medical Board, and his tenures as Chief of Staff of Homeoko Hospital, Pinal County Hospital, and Maynard Memorial Hospital. He had been named President of the Pinal County Medical Society several times. Dr. Tucker retired from private practice in 1973, and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Jennie Laverne Tucker, daughter; Phyllis L. Miller of Albuquerque, grandsons; Harry B. Tucker of Nampa, Idaho, Thomas I. Tucker of Albuquerque, Richard J. Tucker of Boise, Idaho, Christopher S. Miller of Seattle, Washington, great grandchildren; Amanda Tucker, Tony Tucker, Ky Tucker, and Kody Tucker, great great-grandchild; Antonio Tucker-Cruz, nieces; Billie Lynn Tucker-Brown and Mary Ann Tucker-Matzdorf of Arizona, and Nancy Birdsong, as well as Charles Jones and Horace Jones of Tennessee, and John, Jerry, and Carl Dorman of Arkansas. Vander Wagen -- Dr. Robert Charles Vander Wagen (Dr. Van), 72, skilled physician, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Monday, June 16, 2003 in Bullhead City, Arizona. Born in Rehoboth, New Mexico, December 24, 1930. He spent his childhood in and around the Pueblo of Zuni, where his family has been since 1897. Rob's elementary education was spent being taught by his mother in a one-room school house in Zuni. He attended Wasatch Academy (Utah), Calvin College and Seminary, University of Michigan Medical School and University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health. He specialized in Pediatrics and Public Health. He retired in 1982 ending a career of 24 years with the USPHS, Indian Health Service and the State of New Mexico. After retirement, through writing he shared his fascination of the southwest desert with all who love her honest faces. Rob was preceded in death by his brother, Ted; his father, Simon; his mother, Wilhelmina; and his son, Robert Charles II. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Betty; siblings; Larry Vander Wagen, Bernice Stock, and Ethel Carey; children, Barbara Vander Wagen-Bieniewski, Ruth Garza, Claudia Delaney, Norman Vander Wagen, and Glenna Little. The grandchildren, Wendy, Jacquelyn, Rebecca, Paula, Roxanne, Jared, Rachel, Sarah, Kent, Ross, Joshua, and Caszandra. Also one great-grandchild, Courtney Jo. A multitude of friends and family will remember him for his quick wit and marvelous stories that gladdened our hearts and nourished our souls. He managed to enrich the lives of everyone he met. A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at Hope Evangelical Church, 4710 Juan Tabo NE on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at 6:00 p.m. A second Memorial Service is being planned for July in Zuni, New Mexico. Weber -- The Rev. Armin F. Weber, Jr., 79, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at his home in Albuquerque. After serving as an officer in the United States Navy during World War II and working fifteen years in business, Rev. Weber pastored seven E.U.B. and United Methodist congregations in Wisconsin and New Mexico from 1960 to 1986. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie; by his children, Karen Floyd, Greg Weber, Laura Read and husband, Gary, Joward Weber and wife, Leila, Lisa Donaldson and husband, Blair, Wendy Weber, and Mike Weber; and by his eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. We will all cherish the memory of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and pastor. Wilkening -- Ruby B. Wilkening, a resident of Socorro, New Mexico, passed away on June 20, 2003. Ruby was born on July 21, 1920 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Edna and James A. Barks. She came to Socorro with her husband in 1948. Ruby had a bachelors degree from Southeast Missouri State University. She taught math and English in Missouri until her marriage. She was extremely active in the Socorro community. Ruby was very proud to have worked on many fund-raising projects. Her efforts notably supported the Santa Fe Opera since it's inception, the Socorro Public Library, Socorro community's environmental, historical and cultural causes. Ruby was also a member of the A.A.U.W. and the P.E.O. organizations. She was proud of her faith and was an active member of the St. Paul's Methodist Church in Socorro. Ruby was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Ruby was preceded in death by her mother and father, Edna and James A. Barks. She is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Marvin H. Wilkening of Socorro; daughter, Laurel Wilkening and husband Godfrey Sill of Elgin, AZ; son Wes and wife Mary Wilkening of Albuquerque; sister, Norma Palm of Dallas, TX; granddaughter, Whitney of Albuquerque; and a host of very special friends. Wright -- Joy LaVerne Wright, 52, of Flagstaff, AZ died Monday, June 16, 2003. She was born November 7, 1950 to Clarence and LaVerne Juul in Albuquerque. Mrs. Wright resided in Albuquerque until 1977 at which time she moved to Flagstaff with her husband and two sons. She loved her family, her church family and being a hair stylist, and she made many wonderful friends. Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband of 36 years, Thomas G. Wright; sons, Thomas G. (Shawna) Wright Jr. and Rodney J. (Nicole) Wright; sisters, Diana (John) Whitlock, Denise Baker and Patty Stewart; brother, Gene EdY (Dixie) Long; father and mother-in-law, George and Jean Wright; sister-in-law, Jan of Truth of Consequences, NM; five grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
