Zutavern -- Emma Jane Zutavern, 86, died June 21, 2003 at Manor Care Sandia in Albuquerque. She was born November 11, 1916 in Claflin, KS, the daughter of John and Alberta Grubb. She graduated from Great Bend High School and attended the University of Kansas for two years. She married Frederick Sutherland Zutavern (deceased, Nov. 4, 1997) 65 years ago. Emma Jane resided in the Claflin and Great Bend area for 60 years. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and actively served the community through many organizations. More recently she lived in Rogers, AR, Albuquerque, NM, Edmond, OK and Oklahoma City, OK. She was survived by: one daughter, Mary Ann and her husband, Dennis Sells; one son, Fred J and his wife, Vicki Zutavern; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and by an infant daughter. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2003 in St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. Her remains will be buried in the Great Bend Cemetery after a Graveside Service at 2:00 p.m Saturday, June 28, 2003. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting that memorials be given to the 1st Christian Church, 623A N. Broadway, Moore, OK 73160, which was recently destroyed by a tornado.
