Gonzales -- Edward (Eddie) Elias Gonzales 83, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away on August 10, 2003. Eddie is survived by his sister, Gloria Dine and Ida; his loving wife of 56 years, and their four children; Charles, Kathy, Barbara and Pat; four grand children Sara, Jennifer, Daniel and Avram; and one grandchild Richard. Eddie served in the Army and was also a retired U.S. Postal Service employee. He had prior membership affiliations with Elks Lodge #461 for 30 years, Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He served as an usher at Imacculate Conception, St. Bernadette and John XXIII Catholic Church. Eddie loved his music and enjoyed dancing and singing and was for about 12 years a member of"The Harmonizers", a volunteer senior citizen chorale singing group. When he wasn't listening to his music or singing, you could find him striking up conversation with just about anyone, sharing his jokes and words of wisdom. He was a great and honorable husband, father, relative and friend and will be deeply missed but never forgotten by those of us who shared life with him. A Rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11, 2003 followed by a Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at John XXIII Catholic Church, 4831 Tramway Ridge Rd. N.E., Albuquerque, New Mexico. His ashes will be buried at the Veterans National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
